Chapter 811

However, that thought merely flashed through Nicole's mind for a brief moment, and she didn't dwell on it much

more as she pushed herself upright.

Maybe everything that happened before was a coincidence, she thought, tilting her head back. She rested her head

against the bed's headboard and closed her eyes in exhaustion.

She remained seated in bed for a long while before getting out slowly. Finally, she dismissed all the confusing

thoughts to the back of her mind, turned to the bathroom, and washed up.

Zachary was already waiting for her downstairs, and her son woke up slightly earlier today as well. Hayden was

seated on the stool as he silently watched her intently with his big, dark eyes.

She slowly came downstairs, fortunately without feeling dizzy anymore, and slipped into her seat. Finally, she

propped her chin on her hand and couldn't help but yawn lightly.

Zachary noticed that she seemed a little sleepy, so he chuckled and asked in his clear, crisp voice, "What

happened? Didn't you sleep well last night?"

Nicole tilted her head and massaged her temple. "Not really," she answered lifelessly. "I dreamed of my mother, so

I'm a little tired."

Not only did she dream of Madeline, she even dreamed of the incidents that took place when she was young.

To her, her childhood was not a happy one. After all, William had lost interest in Madeline, and she would always

suffer a beating whenever he was drunk.

Although Madeline received nothing from the divorce settlement, Nicole was relieved, as though she was free from

those suffocating shackles.

She realized that her thoughts had drifted off, so she quickly returned to her senses and lowered her eyes to look at

the food on her plate.

Her distracted state worried Zachary, and he asked tentatively, "Nicole, are you still upset about what happened

yesterday?"

When she heard his question, she lifted her head and said, after briefly thinking about it, "No, I just miss my

mother."

He stared at the despondency on her face, and the look on his face gradually turned tender. Then, he ruffled her

hair gently, comforting her, "Do you want me to accompany you to visit her?"

Her lips curled into a bitter smile, and she shook her head. "It's fine. Maybe it's because so many things have

happened recently that made my mind run wild. We'll see how it goes after a while."

Zachary didn't force the matter when he sensed her reluctance. Then, while Nicole was eating, she seemed to

recall something as she turned to him, saying, "That's right. I would like to visit William after breakfast."

He nodded with a soft smile and said gently, "Okay. He's your father, after all, and it's justifiable for you to visit him.

I'll drop you off later."

Alas, she shook her head and declined. "It's alright. I can go by myself."

He didn't insist on accompanying her but still cast a worried look at her, cautiously enunciating, "But your health…"

She knew that he was concerned about her condition during the blood transfusion, but she had rested for two days

and didn't feel dizzy when she woke up this morning.

Hence, she grinned and simply reassured him, "It's fine. I know my health better than anyone and won't joke with

my own body."

As Zachary couldn't sense anything unusual about her, he nodded and lowered his eyes. "Okay, but be careful. Give

me a call the moment you feel unwell."

The fact that he was so distressed about her condition moved Nicole, but she didn't say anything and merely

mumbled softly, "Okay."

After breakfast, she got up and left. Hayden seemed to have noticed something but said nothing as he watched her

get on with her day.
