Chapter 3 Hurry Up and Sign the Divorce Papers When Jeremiah and Jack arrived and broke down the door, the first thing I did was expose Elsa's true colors. I accused her of setting the fire and trying to kill me, but no one believed me.

Jeremiah even shovedaside and prioritized saving Elsa with Jack.

I crashed into the wall and sprained my ankle. As I didn't escape in time, I was nearly disfigured in that fire.

I was rescued from the brink of death. Though my face was saved from hideous fire marks, burn scars marred my arm and thigh.

When the police investigated the fire, I identified Elsa as the culprit, but Jeremiah and Jack insisted I was out of my mind from the trauma. They defended her vigorously at the police station.

Elsa got away scot-free due to insufficient evidence. She later cto the hospital to gloat and smugly declared that Jeremiah and Jack had abandoned me. Soon, the shares and my parents would also be hers.

As I recalled those memories, I shut my eyes in pain.

Jeremiah, who had always disliked my temper, glared atand snapped in an impatient tone, "You know I don't have much patience, Jane. I'm exhausted between work and socializing, and I don't have tto fight you. If you keep this up, divorce is the only option. And if you don't want that, behave yourself." How could he dare threatenwith divorce? It might've worked in the past, but that was exactly what I wanted right now.

I smiled and agreed to it, "Fine, let's get a divorce, then." "What?" Jeremiah froze. His expression was full of disbelief as if he hadn't heardright.

I reached for the divorce papers I had prepared and handed them to him. "I agree to the divorce. Don't worry about dividing assets. The pre-marital assets will remain with their owner. I don't want a single dollar from you, so let's consider it a clean break. All that's left is for you to sign." I smiled as I thoughtfully handed him a pen.

Jeremiah stared at the papers with an unreadable expression. Without looking at the contents, he crumpled the papers and tossed them away.

Then, he grabbed my wrist and pinneddown. His eyes were ablaze with anger. "Have you grown this bold to bring up a divorce?" I looked at his strikingly handsface and was momentarily dazed. Though there was an engagement agreement between us, I had been the first to fall for him.

As a young girl, I followed him everywhere. My heart was set on him by the tI understood what love was, so I relentlessly tried winning him over and chasing the love of my life.

My dream ctrue in college. We started dating and got married not long after we graduated.

I gave everything to this relationship. Though Jeremiah was reserved, he indulged my whims and unconditionally met my demands. I mistook his tolerance for love.

It wasn't until I saw him gently protect Elsa with eyes full of laughter when he looked at her that I woke up from my dream.

Everyone knew how deeply I loved Jeremiah. They assumed I couldn xmed never leave his side and Jeremiah thought the same. That was why he could hurtso recklessly.

When I miscarried in my past life, he was setting off fireworks for Elsa. He om claimed to be on a business trip on N.O our Wedding anniversary, but it turned out he was on vacation by the beach with her.

When the Brown family went bankrupt and my father died, m begged him to stop. But he said it was the price I had to pay for hurting Elsa. Painful lessons from my past life were fresh in my mind. I loathed him to the core, and there wasn't a single shred of love left.

Looking at Jeremiah, I sneered, "What's wrong? You're allowed to bring up divorce but not me?" I struggled against him and tried to push him away. "Hurry up and sign the divorce papers. Let's settle this in peace." His expression darkened at my words.
