Chapter 178 Extortion I looked up, frowning at the man who had the audacity to spew nonsense. I was suppressing the anger rising in my chest. No matter what, today was an important day forand Eric. Even if it wasn't our wedding anniversary, it was still the day we officially becallies.
Eric seemed to share the sthought I had. Ignoring the ranting man, he simply took my hand and continued walking toward the exit.
However, our silence only emboldened the man. Ignoring his fiancée's attempts to hold him back, he stepped forward and blocked our way. "What's this? No apology? Do you think you run the city clerk's office or something?" Eric shieldedbehind him and said coldly, "You're the one who bumped into us. There are surveillance cameras over there. You can check for yourself." The guy snorted. "Check the cameras? By the twe do that, you'd be long gone. I don't care. You ruined our lucky wedding hour. You'll have to compensate us with at least three grand!" I stared at him indifferently. So, the guy was just a scammer.
"Three grand?" I looked at the guy. "That's probably not enough, is it? How about ten grand? Would that be sufficient?" His twisted expression turned excited at my words, and he immediately nodded. "Of course! The more compensation, the better!" I smiled and turned to Eric. "Did you keep the camera recording on?" Eric nodded. "Of course." Following our gaze, the man's face paled as he noticed the portable camera strapped to Eric's chest that was glinting under the sunlight.

Although I found it a little embarrassing, I had no reason to refuse, so I went along with it.
Who would have thought that it would actually becevidence? The moment he saw the camera, the man's cocky attitude crumbled on the spot. He tried to act casual, but his voice wavered. "Let's just forget it. Today's supposed to be a happy day. I'll let you off this time." The moment he finished speaking, he bolted from the scene.
Before I could even react, Eric turned towith an amused look in his eyes. "That guy works at your company." "Huh?" I blinked in confusion.
He clarified, "Brown Group." I immediately turned to look at the fleeing man. Sure enough, now that I was paying attention, I noticed his shoes. They were a limited edition pair that Brown Group had recently gifted to their management I never expected someone like him to be in a management position.
Seeingstanding that lost in thought, Eric gently took my hand.
"You'll find out who he is soon enough when you start working. But for now, stop thinking about it. It's tto go home." His voice and touch had a strange magic to them, instantly calming my emotions.
I followed him into the car without another word.
By the tI got out, I saw a stunning villa with traditional architecture in front of me.
"Do you like it?" Eric asked softly, standing beside me.
I nodded. "Of course." The intricate wooden gate, the

At the end of the long corridor stood a classic, antique-style house-our future "home". As pushed open the door, the interior turned out to be much more modern. After all, a fully traditional design wouldn't be very practical for daily life. Our bedrooms were adjacent to each other on the second floor, with study rooms extending outward on both sides.
The rest of the house had been transformed into various functional spaces-a htheater, a
meditation room, a gym, and so on. Everything was there. On the third floor even spotted a room designed like a nursery. Eric's eyes were locked on me, filled with anticipation.
"So?" he asked warmly. "Are you satisfied?"
