Chapter 1775
Isaac turned around, surprised to see Fiona awake, sitting on the couch, and watching him with a piercing gaze.
That look was too familiar. Twenty years ago, Sophie had looked at him and his mother just like that.
The memory stirred up a wave of bitterness inside him.
"When did you wake up?" he asked.
"I never really slept," Fiona replied, her eyes steady on Isaac.

From a young age, she had been trained to sense danger, far more acutely than most. The moment she walked
into the office, she was on high alert. That ether? She hadn't breathed it in at all, so fainting was out of the
question.
"No way! How could you suspect me?"
Isaac had spent three careful years at Arcadia High School, crafting his persona as a chemistry teacher, with
hardly anyone catching on. During this time, Fiona had never once doubted him.
"Mr. Deston, why did you kidnap me?" Fiona asked, a hint of doubt in her voice. "You've got nothing to gain, and
my godfather will findsoon enough. You're the one in danger. I'd suggest you think it over and letgo
before they catch up to you."
Isaac chuckled at her words: "I didn't expect Sophie and Colby to have such a naive daughter. After all the
trouble | went through to grab you, and you're tellingto let you go? Is there anyone more clueless?"
"Mr. Deston, I'm saying this for your own good," Fiona insisted sincerely. "My godfather and his crew are tough. If
they catch you, it won't be just a handover to the cops."
"Is that so? I'm curious about what they'd do," Isaac shot back, his eyes burning with anger. "Your parents took
everything from me! For two decades 've been living like a rat hiding in the shadows! If it weren't int for your
mom, my family wouldn't have crumbled. I'd still be the heir of the Russell family! | wouldn't have had to endure
years of hardship! It's all your mom's fault; you owe me!"
Isaac, trembling with rage, lunged forward, gripping Fiona's throat, hissing through clenched teeth: "Why should
you live in comfort while tye suffered? Why does luck always smile on you? Giveback what's mine!"
Fiona stared back, unfazed. As a kid, she had asked her mother why they never visited her old family home, and
her mother had said there was no family left. As she grew older, Fiona discovered her mother's uncle was
imprisoned.
But that was their own doing. Why do so many people in this world insist on blaming others for their troubles?
Seeing Fiona's calm, knowing gaze, Isaac was reminded of Sophie once more. Their eyes were so alike.
Just as Isaac was about to make his move, the blaring of sirens filled the air outside.
Isaac froze, stunned that they had tracked him down so quickly.
