“Sandra and what we are going to tell Lilly when she asks about her one day.” Marcus took a seat next to me.

“We won't have that conversation with her because you are her mother, and | am her father. no one else.” |

“In a perfect world, it would have worked but people talk. When that happens, | would like to be prepared.” My

| opened my mouth to say something, but my husband got up and offeredhis hand, silencingin the

process. “Con, let's go have lunch, Lupita and Nick cooked.” | frowned, | thought they wanted talone,

that was why | got them snacks and took them to her room.

“Are you okay with that?” he did say he didn’t mind having Nick in our hanymore, but | wanted to be sure.

He nodded, “Yes, | am fine. Now let's go eat, | am starving.” He took my hand and ledto the kitchen.

We heard laughter before we could appear, | turned to look at my husband giving him a questioning look. He just

shrugged and walked ahead. | followed behind and we appeared. | couldn't help but smile at the sight.

Nick and Lupita were both wearing aprons laughing together at something one of them said. They looked so

good together. A smile formed on my lips, | wished they had found each other sooner.

Nick would have gotten oversooner and he would have been happy sooner. “What are standing around here

for? | though we were going to eat.” Asked my father walking past us. The chefs saw him and stopped laughing.

“Something smells good in here, what did you make?” my stomach grumbled embarrassing me. everyone

laughed. “It’s braised pork and svegetable. Con, sit down and | wish dish for you.” Lupita said.

| went and took a seat and waited for my plate. Nick was avoiding eye contact withthat whole time. “You can

relax Nick, | will not chase you away.” He lifted his head to look atthen he smiled.

That smile was full of mischief, and | wondered what the hell was he thinking. “Nick, givesfood there.”

My dad said with a cold voice. I glanced at him; he didn’t look good at all. | was right, something was bothering

him.

Could it have been something to do with what Nick did or why they left in a hurry here yesterday? | wanted to

ask but | held back, he didn’t tellwhen | asked and that meant he was not ready to talk about it.

Lupita placed a plate of food in front of me. it smelled so good that my tummy grumbled again. “Olivia, feed that
