Chapter 625 Bertha sighed in relief when Sebastian nodded. Then, she began sharing her plans.
Martin listened and nodded approvingly.
In fact, he had no intention of actually marrying Heather off to Sebastian. An engagement was enough for him. With that connection established, Heather could easily lure Sebastian away. Once she mastered the forbidden technique, the rest of the plan could be carried out.
To ensure nothing went wrong, Martin hurriedly arranged for the engagement to take place right there and then. Though rushed, with so many senior members of the Netherworld Sect present as witnesses, it could hardly be considered hasty.
The ceremony itself was simple enough. It was just the signing of a marriage contract and the pressing of handprints by both parties.
Sebastian didn't object, knowing it was just an engagement, not a full marriage.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtRight now, his priority was finding the method to unlock the third stage of his cultivation, handling the situation with Alissa, and then figuring out a way to return home.
He had no desire to stay in this strange world any longer than necessary. After all, his family and friends were probably worried sick by now.
After the engagement, Sebastian followed Bertha to the mountains at the back of the valley.
As it turned out, Bertha, as a great-elder, didn't reside within the Crosscurrent Valley itself but lived further up the mountain.
The other three great-elders also lived on this mountain, though their dwellings were spaced far apart, the closest being at least 657 feet away.
Bertha's retreat wasn't a house, but a cave.
However, the cave was surprisingly spacious, with three separate rooms. One was her own sleeping quarters, one was the alchemy room, and another one was the bedroom that belonged to her former disciple.
It had a lot of stuff in the house, likely left behind by the previous occupant.
"You'll stay here for now. Don't touch anything you're not supposed to, and don't wander off unless necessary. "Bertha reminded him.
"Alright. But I need to return htomorrow for spersonal matters," Sebastian said.
"You've only just joined the Netherworld Sect, and now you want to leave? What could possibly be so important?' Bertha asked in displeasure.
Sebastian quickly explained the situation about Jenna and Alissa.
Bertha was surprised to learn that Sebastian had killed several noblemen's guards in order to protect his wife. "For a commoner, you've got quite the nerve. Without our sect's protection, what you did would be punishable by death!' Bertha remarked.
Sebastian replied, "I know. That's why I joined the sect. However, I need to go back and handle the situation first.' "Fine. I'll give you two days. After that, you must return immediately and focus on your cultivation,' Bertha said.

His primary reason for becoming Bertha's disciple was to learn alchemy. Mastering it would benefit not only his own cultivation but also the training of his family and friends.
The next morning, he set off for home. After stime, he found Jenna and Alissa in the mountains. "Honey!"
When Alissa saw Sebastian, she was so excited that she cried. She ran into his arms, hugging him tightly m Sebastian Was momentarily at a loss. Now that his memories had returned, he was all too aware that the woman in his arms once sought to kill him.
Though she had lost her memory now, if she ever regained it and m learned that he had made her lose her chastity, she would likely tear him apart. Even so, he hugged her back and shared the news that he had joined the Netherworld Sect.
Jenna and Alissa were overjoyed as they heard the news. Then, the three of them happily returned htogether.
Just as they stepped into their house, a large group of people stormed into the courtyard, bristling with hostility.
At the head of the group was a man in his fifties. He was very fat and weighed at least 200 pounds.
He rode on a big horse. He was very furious as his gaze was filled with murderous intent.
Upon seeing him, Jenna turned pale with fright. With a thud, she dropped to her knees and said, "All hail Lord En Baron!"
