Chapter 86.

Nelly’s POV.

| watched as he stood up and walked towards the door, closing it behind him. | followed him, trying to gauge his

mood.

“What is it?” | asked, looking at him with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. He turned to me, his

his eyes serious.

“There's a war brewing in your pack,” he said. | felt my heart skip a beat.

War was something | had always feared, but | couldn't understand why Kex, who had always seemed so

uninterested in Astel’s affairs, would be worried about this.

“So?” | asked, raising my eyebrows.

Kex’s words hung in the air between us. My heart pounded in my chest as | tried to make sense of what he was

saying.

“The Rogue King is the one attacking?” He said, his voice tinged with anger. | couldn't believe what | was

hearing.

Emily had always been a thorn in my side, the memories of that war cback flashing, the arrow pierced in my

heart. My thoughts turned to anger, and | felt my hands clenched into fists. Kex looked at me, his expression

unreadable.

“Let's attack!” | said, my voice filled with fury. Kex let out a soft chuckle, but I glared at him. “You think this is

funny?” | snapped. “This is serious!”

Kex held up his hands in surrender.

“Do

you

think I will take you along with me?” He asked.

“Why not,” I said, folding my arms

“I know this is serious, Nelly,” he said. “But you need to remember what happened last twe went to war. You

almost lost your life. | won't let that happen again.” | looked down, my shoulders sagging! He was right.

Last time, | was nearly killed. But | couldn't just sit by and do nothing.

“Why didn’t you stop going to war after you almost died when you were a kid?” | asked, my eyes fixed on him.

He looked at me, his expression grave.

“That's a different thing,” he said, leaning back against the wall. | scoffed.

“How is it different? You just don’t wantto go because I'm a lady, so you think I'm ssort of weakling.” He

gavea wry smile.

“Oh, please. We both know that’s not it.” | rolled my eyes.

“Fine, then. Explain tohow it’s different.” He took a deep breath, as if gathering hist thoughts.

“You don’t see it, Nelly,” he said, a hint of frustration in his voice. “I don’t want you to get hurt. The last tthe

was a war, we both know what happened.” He reached out to touch me, but | pulled away.

“If you really care about me, you would letgo with you,” | said, my voice rising in anger.

“Why do you want to go so badly?” he asked, his tone softening. | hesitated, unsure how to explain the burning

rage | felt inside. Finally, | spoke.

“Emily was the one who almost killedthe last time,” | said, my voice shaking. “I want to be the one to end

her.”

“Fine, you can calong,” he said, his voice tinged with sadness.

| wrapped my arms around him, hugging him tightly. He didn’t respond, but | didn’t. care. All | cared about was

the thought of going to war. | pressed my lips to his, hoping he would understand.

But | felt his body tense under mine. Just then, the door burst open. I pulled away from him, my heart pounding

as | turned to see who had cin. Aisha and Harry stood in the doorway, their faces pale with worry.

“I've been looking for you,” Aisha said, rushing toward me. | could see worries in her

cycs.

“There's no way | will go missing,” | said to Aisha, trying to reassure her. She rolled her eyes and playfully

punched my arm.

“You are not serious, Nelly!” she said.

Then, Kex spoke up.

“There's a war to prepare for,” he said, his voice stern. Aisha turned to look at me, her eyes wide.

“What war?” she asked. | took a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest.

“It’s our pack,” | whispered. Aisha’s hand flew to her mouth, and | could see the shock.

on her face.

| was about to say something when Kex interrupted.

“Ladies, be quiet,” he ordered.

| nodded, and we all fell silent. He moved to his desk and pulled out a map, spreading it across the surface. We

all gathered around, our eyes fixed on the map.

“What's the situation?” Aisha asked, her voice shaking.

“Most of our warriors are still recovering from the last battle,” Harry said. “We're not in a good position to fight

another war.”

Kex let out a weary sigh, his hands resting on the desk. His eyes darted around the room, as if searching for a

solution.

“We need a plan,” he said, his voice low and firm.

The room was silent for a long moment, the air heavy with tension. No one seemed to have a solution.

“We'll have to manage with the warriors we have,” Kex said, his voice resigned. Harry nodded, his face serious.

Kex gave us a few instructions, outlining a plan of action. Then, he turned to Aisha.

“You'll have to cwith us,” he said.

“Why?” Harry asked, a note of surprise in his voice.

“Because Nelly is coming.” Kex said, his gaze fixed on me.

| gave them a weak smile, as they turned to look at me, unconsciously | nodded my hair. And they nodded in

agreement.

After a few minutes, Kex dismissed us, instructing us to get ready to leave. We were to do so discreetly, so as not

to draw attention or risk any information leaking out. As | made my way to my room, my heart was racing.

| felt a rush of anger and adrenaline. My thoughts were consumed by one thing: killing Emily. | could picture the

moment clearly, her lifeless body lying on the battlefield. 1 clenched my fists, | had to be ready for anything.

| changed into my battle clothes, a dark uniform that blended in with the nig

night. | pulled my hair back into a tight ponytail, and put on a black lip gloss. | wrapped a dark shawl around my

shoulders, the fabric brushing against my skin.

| stepped out of my room, ready for the battle that lay ahead. As | walked down the hall, | collided with Aisha. We

both laughed, the tension of the moment broken. We headed outside where we found the others gathered in the

courtyard. Harry was

| heard a voice in my head telling| was making a mistake, but | shoved it aside.
