As Grace was being escorted out of the house, she couldn't hold back the question. "What's wrong with Mr.

Henderson?"

Tim's voice was calm. "He's fine. He's just a little shaken up. He's also been running on no sleep lately."

She took a few steps toward the car, then paused. "Is he still having insomnia? | can stay here tonight if that

helps. I'll leave first thing in the morning."

Tim stood by the car door and drew in a quiet breath. "Ms. Lambert, take care. Happy holidays."

That was his polite way of turning her down.

Once Grace got in the car, she didn't go home. Instead, she found herself outside Liam's ward.

Her mind had been a mess the whole ride over, tangled up in thoughts of Ethan. She couldn't figure out his

motives, and that uncertainty gnawed at her.

The moment she saw Liam sitting in silence, the frustration she had been holding in csurging all at once.

He was clearly awake. The fever had passed. And yet, he hadn't called her. Now, here he was, quietly eating the

oatmeal Andrea was feeding him.

Grace had so much she wanted to say, but standing there, she just felt... tired. She lingered at his bedside for a

long while before managing to say, "I'm glad you're okay."

Liam didn't look at her. His gaze was fixed on the window as he said, "Yeah." Andrea, full of smug satisfaction,

spooned another bite toward him.

"If you want something else, just tell me," she chirped. "I'll have the housekeeper make it."

Liam lowered his gaze. His lips were chapped, and he had only been awake for a few minutes.

Grace couldn't stand the sight anymore. She turned and walked out without another word.

She sat on a bench outside the hospital for a long tbefore she thought of Lyle. Pulling out her phone, she

gave him a call. To her surprise, his voice sounded weak, like he was hurt.

She asked, "Lyle, what happened to you?"

Lyle hissed on the other end, irritated. "It's just a little injury. It's nothing serious."

Grace was too caught up in her own confusion to press further. After a few casual questions, Grace ended the

call. Right after, footsteps approached.

A familiar face appeared beside her. In his hand was a plastic bag with medications.

"Jasper?"

Seeing the future heir of Lambert Group standing right there somehow calmed Grace. She quickly scooted over

to make room and asked,

you sick or something? Whats with the bag full of meds?"

belongs to s

Jasper, looking every bit the college kid he was, gave the bag a little shake. "Just

flu stuff. I'm stocking up for winter."

They sat together for a bit while Grace asked how college was going.

He gave her a small smile and said, "I just got back from an academic seminar overseas with my mentor. Don't

worry. I'm making sure our investment isn't wasted." s

When it cto academics, he'd always been confident.

Grace smiled and patted his shoulder. "Good. If you need anything, just reach out. Are you going hfor

Christmas?"

"Nah. I'm gonna stay on campus and finish up a couple of experiments."

She was just about to invite him to spend Christmas Eve together but then remembered that she had already

promised to have dinner with Ed.

What she didn't know was that several floors up, Liam was standing at the window, watching them. His

expression was anything but calm.

Next to him, Andrea smirked, her voice laced with venom. "That's him, huh? Grace has met with him plenty of

times. She always seems so concerned about him."

She paused, then added, "You were right to listen to me. Grace has only ever cared about the Lambert family's

fortune. How else do you explain that message furing you so far, nearly costing you your life? s

To this day, Liam still didn't know who had sent that anonymous text. His hand tightened around the curtain.

Andrea kept going, her tone soft and persuasive. "Right now, just focus on getting better."

He could leave the rest for Andrew to handle.
