Chapter 71 The Luna’s Ring
Henry’s POV
I knew Aubrey was pretending to sleep. Her lashes were trembling far too deliberately, her
breathing just a little too even to be real-but I didn’t call her out
Watching her sulk and stew in her own frustration was, oddly, endearing. She looked like she was
one breath away from baring her fangs and bolting, and if | pushed her any harder, she might
actually do it.
1 don’t know how I never realized how contradictory she is.
As for the mysterious Alpha-ranked mate who had suddenly appeared and just as suddenly
vanished.... | suppose there was no bond between us after all. If she had shown up before | fell for
Aubrey, perhaps we might have ended up together. But now...
1 glanced down at the woman in my arms. My fingers absentmindedly brushed through her hair.
“Callen,” 1 called inward.
My wolf stirred instantly, growling low and restless. He knew what | was about to say.
“The next twe see her, I'm going to reject her.”
“You're insane! That's the mate the Moon Goddess gave us!” Callen roared in protest, his claws raking through
my consciousness. | summoned all my strength to suppress him, locking him down with force.
“Enough. I've already made my choice.”
By the twe returned to Seaheart Island, the little faker in my arms had actually fallen asleep. She was curled
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇttightly against me, brows slightly furrowed, like someone who'd finally collapsed from exhaustion.
“Alph...”
“Shh.”
The servants who cto greetquickly lowered their heads and backed away. One reached out to take her
from me, but a single look froze him in place.
| carried her into the bedroom myself, moving quietly, placing her gently on the bed. As an Alpha, | never
thought I'd one day be this careful for an Omega-adjusting my steps, softening my breath, doing everything to
avoid disturbing her sleep.
My fingers brushed across the furrow between her brows, then | walked to a hidden drawer and retrieved a single
object: a wolf-fang ring. The Luna’s token. The sring she had once returned to me.
| slipped it gently onto her finger.
As | left the room, the beta steward contactedwith a report. | had already instructed him via mind link to look
into what had happened at the Mary estate.
| ordered the staff not to disturb her and went to my study to listen.
After the steward finished the report, Het out a cold laugh. | already had my suspicions at that dinner-the
stepmother and stepsister were clearly rotten.

long as they weren't connected to the Mary or Lynn families, | didn’t care. | had no patience left for anyone from
either of those hoURES.
Well-except my fiancée, Aubrey.
Bailey’s POV
Damn it! How did Aubrey drink the schampagne and walk away like nothing happened? | could
still feel the lingering heat clawing through my body. Was it true that the higher the wolf’s rank,
the stronger their response to heat?
I clenched my jaw, shifting my legs restlessly against each other. That bastard’s technique was
decent, sure. but the moment | remembered all those classmates watchingscrew him on a
screen. | wanted to tear him limb from limb. My mother gave him a fortune, and he still managed to
ruin everything.
I shot her a glare. “Mom! Go find Charles right now. The second he catches Jimmy, make him lie.
Force him to say Aubrey drugged me. Say it was all her plan-to frme and snatch Grandpa’s
inheritance!”
Her eyes flickered. “I... | don’t know if that’ll work. He might not hold up under interrogation...”
“You're such an idiot, Mom!”
I snapped. “Why don’t you ask for help from our own family? | heard Caesar just got promoted-he’s
working directly under Alpha Henry now! If he puts pressure on Jimmy, that loser won’t dare say a
word against us!”
That b*tch Aubrey was the one who deserved to be ruined in front of the whole pack-not me. Not
me!
