“] want Bailey destroyed!”

When she said it, Aubrey’s eyes burned with two ghostly blue flames-like hellfire born of hatred.
Cold. Unforgiving.
1 didn’t understand. | couldn’t understand what it was she hated so much. Bailey was only
seventeen. What could she possibly have done that was so unforgivable?
“Aubrey, you're being extreme! Even if Bailey did something wrong, it was probably just sibling
teasing taken too far. You didn’t have to go this far!”
“Sisterly teasing?” Aubrey let out a laugh, sharp and cold, as if she’d just heard the joke of the
century. “OF course. In your eyes, she’s the perfect little sister-everything she does is innocent,
harmless, just a spoiled child’s mistake, right?”
Her eyes blazed brighter, voice laced with contempt. “In that case, why are you wasting there?
Go back and comfort your poor, mistreated little sister. Tell her her dear big brother Charles will
always believe in her innocence!”
“You-!"
A surge of anger, tangled with indescribable disappointment, rose violently to my head. My vision.
blackened at the edges.
She was the one who’d ruined everything, and yet she stood here, unrepentant, accusingof
betrayal!
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt| didn’t know what hurt more-that she'd done it... or that the woman I'd liked so deeply was turning out to be
such a cold-blooded, manipulative snake.
Still, | forced down the fury and tried to reason with her. “Aubrey, you've gone too far this time. Cwith me
and apologize!”
Aubrey actually laughed. “Mr. Charles, are you trying to be funny, or is your bias really that blinding?”
She yanked her arm out of my grip and gavea chilling glare. “Did I invite everyone to that party? Was it me
who hired the doctor? Was | the one who spiked the drinks? Or who set up the cameras? Have you even stopped
to consider what would've happened toif | hadn't figured it out in time?!”
Her anger flared with every word. Her eyes were glacial, like distant stars-sharp enough to cut.
“I don’t have a loving brother to shield me. | don’t have a doting father who'll investigate the truth. | don’t have
a mother to protectfrom scandal. If I'd been the one in that video-if it were me-then before the day was
over, every single werewolf in the Dark Moon Pack would’ve known that Aubrey, Alpha Henry's fiancée, is a filthy
slut!”
“No, never! If it had been you-if you were the victim-I swear I'd have done everything in my power to protect
you! I'd find the truth, no matter what it cost. I'd never let that happen to you!”
The second those words left my mouth, Aubrey froze.
Something in her eyes faltered-like the flwithin them flickered for just a breath. The sharp, biting hatred
paused, her expression softening... if only slightly.

Maybe she wasn’t beyond saving.

Ulowered my voice and tried again, gentler. “Even if someone plotted against you... once you saw through it, you
could've just escaped. Why go so far as to shove Bailey into the fire?”
At that. Aubrey gaveone long look. Her expression iced over again.
“That's why we'll never be friends. And definitely never family. Get out of my sight. We're strangers.
She turned and walked away.
But her final words-sharp, bitter, final-stabbed deep into my chest. They hurt.
Still, 1 told myself | hadn't been wrong.
No matter how much I liked Aubrey, | couldn't throw away my sense of justice.
Bailey was only seventeen. | couldn’t believe she'd set Aubrey up like this. Bailey had to be innocent. And if that
was true, then Aubrey’s retaliation had gone too far.
Aubrey’s POV
After shaking off Charles, | could barely stand.
Not because of him-but because of the fire raging inside my body.
The heat tore through my bloodstream, roaring and ravenous. My skin tingled so acutely I could feel
the weight of every speck of dust in the air.
Every male werewolf | passed madepause, my gaze lingering too long. | had the overwhelming
urge to reach out, touch his chest, press my body to his-let him claim me, kiss me, ravage me.
It was unbearable.
This couldn’t go on.
I was standing at the edge of complete, irreversible loss of control. If | had to choose someone-
anyone-to sleep with just to survive this...
“Go to Alpha Henry! Now! Immediately!”
Ella’s voice exploded in my mind, filled with an urgent, frenzied hunger I'd never heard from her
before. Her consciousness surged forward, nearly overriding my own.
“He’s our mate! He can smell our need! Only him-only his touch, his scent, his strength-can calm
this storm! He’ll make us feel so good we’ll die from it!”
Alpha Henry...
Yes. That domineering, powerful Alpha. He’d made no effort to hide his desire for me.
And now, | was so close to giving in to any wolf who crossed my path-I couldn’t afford to wait.
Clenching my jaw, | opened the mind link. Henry...
