But there was nothing.

Aubrey’s blue eyes were as calm as still water. “I won’t regret it. All I ask is that you remember our

agreement.”

Her words ignited a fury in me.

It was the greatest humiliation I'd ever suffered in my life. Id put on a whole show, pulling every

string- and in the end, she really didn’t loveanymore.

“Aubrey! You're unbelievable! You want to becthe Miguel family’s adopted daughter? Fine! I'll

make it happen!”

Aubrey’s POV

The door slammed behind him with a thunderous bang, shaking the walls. Alpha Henry stormed out,

his rage so intense it felt like it could burn the whole building down.

And yet all | felt was confusion. That flutter in my chest from earlier? Just a damn biological

reaction. I’ve been given a second chance at life-if | waste even a second more on that egotistical

maniac, then | deserve to have my soul dragged to hell.

I had more important things to do anyway.

I changed clothes and headed back to the Mary family estate. There was a performance scheduled

today- and I really hoped that scumbag Jimmy wouldn’t letdown.

As soon as | reached the front gates, | heard my father’s furious roar.

Oh? Looks like it worked.

| smiled faintly and stepped inside.

Once so poised and proud, Aurelia was now a wreck, sobbing and clinging to my father’s leg. Her meticulously

curled hair was a tangled mess, and she looked like a banshee clawing her way out of the underworld.

“Jax! It's not what it looks like! I-l must've been drugged! | don’t know who that man was, | swear | don’t know

anything!”

My father kicked her away without hesitation. Bailey rushed in behind her, crying and begging.

“Daddy, please! You have to believe Mom! She'd never cheat on you! Someone must've drugged her!”

Dad sneered. “Drugged? Who in this house would drug her? | didn’t catch the bastard, but don’t insult my

intelligence.”

He turned to storm upstairs, but then Aurelia looked up and saw me.

Her face twisted into something monstrous, like she'd crawled straight out of hell.

“It was you! It had to be you! You're the only one who hatesthis much! You poisoned me, you filthy little

wretch! | really underestimated how low you could go!”

| smiled, unbothered. Looked like Jimmy did exactly as | asked. The first thing I told him to do was make sure my

father caught Aurelia cheating. And from the looks of it, he executed it flawlessly. No surprise-he was clearly

experienced in this sort of thing.

“What are you smiling at?!” Aurelia shrieked. “It was you, wasn't it?!”

| shook my head and said calmly, “Walk down a dark road long enough and you're bound to run into ghosts. My

dear stepmother, you may still be a wolf in heat, but at least try to keep it indoors.”

Aurelia’s eyes went red with fury. She transformed into her wolf form within seconds and lunged at me. | dodged

to the side just in time, her claws shredding the leather sofa behind me.

Before she could pounce again, my father-now in his massive gray wolf form-leapt down the spiral staircase and

slammed her into the wall with a single strike.

“Mom!” Bailey screamed, false eyelashes half-torn by tears. “Daddy, she’s unconscious!”

My father paused for a beat, then turned coldly to the butler. “Send this disgrace back to the Lynn family.”

Watching them carry Aurelia away, broken and humiliated, | couldn't help the smirk tugging at my lips.

A Beta of her strength shouldn't have gone down so easily. But I'd added a special ingredient to the drug Jimmy

used-its residue would continue to suppress her power until she degenerated into the one thing she despised

most an Omega. Now that’s what | call poetic justice.

“Aubrey, this was your doing, wasn’t it?” Bailey marched up to me, hissing under her breath. “You've always

been obsessed with potions and poisons. You've brewed aphrodisiacs before-what, scared to admit it now?”

I'd been smiling up to that point. But the moment she said aphrodisiacs, my expression froze.

“What did you say? Aphrodisiacs?” | stared at her, narrowing my eyes. “How do you know | made those?”

| never told a soul-not even my father-that Mariana had askedto make them for her.

Bailey’s face went pale as she realized her slip. She looked away, but it was too late. I'd already

figured it out.

“So that’s it,” | whispered. “You were in on it with Mariana from the start.”

The nights | was misunderstood by Alpha Henry, humiliated, insulted... she must’ve been laughing

behind the scenes with Mariana. Watching the show.

Every new truth | uncovered only madehate Bailey more.

Bailey flinched, then spat bitterly, “So what if | was? Why should a useless Omega like you get to be

engaged to an Alpha? Who do you think you are?”

Suddenly, she drew a dagger inlaid with rubies. “Just like now. | could stab you and there’s nothing

you could do to stop me.”

I caught the faint scent of wolfsbane on the blade.
