Chapter 22 Our Fate Mate!

Aubery’s POV

Aft discovering the head, | gave Charles a friendly smile-but he avoided my gaze, his eyes quickly going

A momenm later, he finished his mental link. The dazed look faded. F've notified the local enforcement officers to

handle the scene, but...

He looked atseriously. “Ms. Mary, | need you to tellhow did you know he was the killer? And how were

you so precise about where the body was hidden?”

“Hmm. Of course | wasn’t going to tell him the wolf doctors at the research facility in my last life had told me

everything.

In my previous life, the man behind this murder never got caught right away. He got bolder and eventually killed

over a dozen werewolves before he was finally arrested.

Back then, when he was apprehended, he spoke calmly on live television, describing how he killed his first

victim.

“All of this... was told toby a little girl. | don’t know why she told me, or where she is now.”

That's exactly what | planned to say when giving my statement.

Charles gritted his teeth in frustration. “Do you realize | could suspect you as an accomplice and arrest you for

this?”

| smiled calmly. “You won't.”

“What makes you-" Charles didn’t get to finish his sentence. His eyes glazed over again. Someone was -linking

with him mentally.

Moments later, his expression changed drastically.

“Enforcement said the resident here-Saul-was a gamma and worked as a forensics apprentice. But he hasn't

shown up for work in two days. In other words, he ran!”

He fixed his sharp gaze on me. “Do you know where he went?!”

| narrowed my eyes, thought for a moment, then answered slowly.

“He... may have gotten a taste for killing. He could be at the second victim’s hright now.”

“Aubrey!”

Charles suddenly shouted.

“This is a matter of life and death! Take it seriously!”

| dropped my smile and looked at him coldly. “If you know this is a matter of life and death-and you need me-

then you'd better fix your attitude, Mr. Charles.”

My sharp glare made Charles instinctively take a step back. But | didn’t have tto waste on him-my brain was

running at full speed.

I remembered that after Saul’s first kill, he committed another murder within a month. But that second date...

wasn't it supposed to be tomorrow?

If he’s been missing for two days already, the only explanation is-he’s been torturing the victim for three days

before the actual kill.

But this time, | was here. | wouldn't let another werewolf beca victim.

“I don’t know where he is,” | said with a straight face. “But | can find him. That is, if you trust me. First of all -stop

looking atlike I'm a suspect, Mr. Charles.”

Charles pressed his lips together, clearly weighing whether to believe me.

But | knew someone was still waiting forto save her. | didn’t have tto stand around and argue.

| said directly, “You can stay here and have someone clean up the scene. If Saul returns, maybe you can catch

him red-handed. Also, when | contact you via link later, you'd better answer immediately.”

Charles blinked in surprise, then nodded. “Alright.”

| waved a hand in front of his face. “Now givescash for a cab.” Without Charles to drivearound, and

without a wolf, | had no choice but to take a taxi.

Charles handedhis wallet and frowned. “I don’t know what you're planning, but... be careful.”

| smiled, turned, and walked away. Very soon, werewolf officers arrived to secure the scene.

“Skyview Court,” | told the driver as | flagged down a car. But just as | opened the door to get in, a burning heat

surged through the depths of my bones like molten lava.

Hello! Aubrey! A cheerful voice suddenly rang out in my head. I'm so happy to see you!

“Who are you?” | blinked, stunned.

I'm Ella! Your wolf! Oh, thank the Lunar Oath-I finally got out of that damn place! Ella’s voice was filled with

excitement. She toldshe had appeared when | turned sixteen, but had been trapped in a pure white. space

ever since. She couldn't escape or reach me. But early this morning, the space finally cracked-and she seized

the chance to escape.

I'm finally free!

Her joy was so infectious, | wanted to shift into my wolf form and run through the grass. | thought it-and I did it.

The driver screamed and sped off, yelling something about crazy people, but | didn’t care at all.

I ran through the woods and over rocks, Ella’s strength flooding through every nerve like a tidal wave.

Do you feel it? We're Alpha level! Ella screamed with glee.

“Yes! This is amazing,” | shouted back, thrilled. But | didn’t indulge for long-I still had someone to save.

When | reached the vicinity of Skyview Court, | shifted back into human form and asked, “Ella, can you suppress

your energy? | don’t want anyone knowing I've awakened my wolf yet.”

What | didn’t expect-was a stretched black luxury car parked right in front of the building. I looked up- and

through the window, | locked eyes with Alpha Henry's face, flawless enough to put celebrities to shame.

“What are you doing here?” My eyes widened in shock.

But the very next second, Ella screamed in my mind.

“Oh my god-mate! He's our fate mate!”
