The moment they weren’t paying attention, I dove into the grass and shifted into wolf form, taking
off at full speed.
Three or four minutes later, the werewolves realized | was gone. Their furious howls echoed through
the woods-
“That omega’s gone! Find her! Now!”
Now you notice? It’s already too late to catch me.
The thought had barely formed when my pace faltered. | heard the unmistakable sound of shifting
bones- and before I could stop it, | was forced back into human form.
“Ella?!” | growled in disbelief, but got no response. Damn it. She had vanished again-right when |
needed
her most.
Without Ella, there was no way | could outrun a pack of werewolves on two legs.

suppressants for two years, | wouldn't be dealing with this now.
But this wasn’t the tfor rage. | could already feel the search party getting closer.
Left with no choice, | scrambled up a nearby tree. The one small mercy was that, thanks to my alpha-level
healing, the wound on my leg had mostly closed during that short burst of movement. Only a small gash
remained.
| nestled myself deep within the thickest part of the canopy. Not long after, a group of werewolves arrived to
search the area-Ulrich included. His face was pale, but his ice-blue eyes burned with fury.
“Alpha, there's no trace on the ground. That omega didn’t cthis way.”
One of them had checked the terrain and reported back. If an omega had fled in panic, she would've left all kinds
of signs. But I'd been careful-there were no tracks to follow.
What | didn’t expect was that Ulrich didn’t buy it. He clenched his jaw and yelled into the forest.
“Aubrey! You don’t know yet, do you? Your alpha abandoned you!”
“My people intercepted his supply convoy! It’s still heading to the original destination! He's not coming to save
you! So even if you're hiding, it's pointless! No one’s coming. There's no way an omega like you is getting off this
mountain alive!”
“He’s not coming!”
He shouted as he scanned his surroundings carefully.
“What a pity. | thought you might be useful, but to alpha Henry, you're just expendable! If that’s the case, then
you don’t need to stay alive! If you cout now, I'll give you a clean death. If not, I'll sell you to the most
backward pack | can find-make you a whore! Let you be trampled by filthy, rat-smelling wolves until

He was trying to break me-trying to pushover the edge with betrayal and despair so I'd snap and come
running out like sidiot..
But who does he think | am? Like I'd fall for something that obvious?
No. I wouldn't.
Besides, alpha Henry not showing up would be the right call. In the face of pack, family, duty-romantic feelings
mean nothing. Especially when we weren't even at that point yet.
So | didn’t move a muscle. | held my breath, perfectly still, like I'd becone with the tree itself.
Ulrich waited a while, saw nothing, and finally gave up. His face darkened as he gave his next order.
“Bringstorches.”
“If 1 can’t have this land, then I'll burn it down.”
My eyes widened in shock. He wanted to set the mountain on fire?!
This whole area was forest. Once a blaze started here, it would rage out of control. The ecosystem
would be completely destroyed!
And yet, none of the werewolves following Ulrich seemed concerned. In fact, shad already
shifted and were running off to fetch torches.
Damn it. My breathing picked up before | could stop it.
Just then, a werewolf csprinting over. He shifted back into human form and stood beside Ulrich.
“Alpha! We’re under attack! Unknown wolves have infiltrated Gold Mountain!”
