Nathalie chuckled softly. "He's got no clue about himself, does he?" A wave of bitterness washed over her, a reminder of how she always seemed to fall short of her father's endless expectations.
Morris caught the hint of sadness clouding Nathalie's expression and gently clasped her hand, his eyes filled with empathy. "Nathalie, you're deserving of every bit of praise your father showers upon you. You're worthy of any man out there." Nathalie blurted out, "Then what about you? Why do you always seem to dodge me?" Morris's face turned a deep shade of red, his lips parting slightly in surprise. "I..." Realizing she had put him on the spot, Nathalie took a step back, flushed with embarrassment. "Morris, I was just kidding around. I... I sometimes struggle with confidence and feel like I don't deserve happiness. I look to you for a sense of security to shake that off." "I know it's irrational. No one can really give you that kind of security. It's unreliable. In the end, the only person you can truly rely on is yourself." "You get what I'm saying, right? Anyway, I should go downstairs and mingle with the guests. I'm sorry." Nathalie quickly exited the room.
Morris remained there, his head bowed, his face drained of color.

If only he had taken better care of himself all these years, maybe he could have had more time. Maybe then, he could have been her rock.
The world was vast, but Nathalie only felt safe with him. Yet he couldn't offer her that safety.
A sharp pain suddenly gripped Morris's heart, leaving him drenched in sweat and his face pale.
He clutched his chest, desperately trying to push away the whirlwind of worries. Slowly, the pain began to ease. He let out a deep breath.
He had to leave Nathalie; it was becoming urgent.
Downstairs, a group of lovely ladies swarmed around Nathalie.
"Nathalie, weren't you going to introduce us to your brother? We've been waiting forever, and he's still a no- show!" Nathalie flashed them a smile. "You ladies want so stunning; my brothere wants to make sure he's t to meet you all." Cont his "Nathalie, you're so gorgeous; your brother must be just as handsome." "But I heard he has a leg condition. Is that true?" The other ladies exchanged skeptical glances. "Oh, that's unfortunate." Nathalie felt a pang, like a thorn in her heart. She reassured them, "He may have a leg condition, but it 3define him. You'll see what I mean when you meet him.

"Cin," Morris called, his spirits lifting, thinking Nathalie had returned. To his surprise, it was Lizzy.
He scrutinized Lizzy, caught off guard. Lizzy touched her face and asked, "Is there something on my face, sir?" Morris shook his head. "Have you been feeling unusually tired lately?" Lizzy's eyes widened. "How did you know? I do feel weak sometimes." Morris nodded, speaking more to himself. "Good, there's still time." Lizzy was puzzled. "Sir, my sister wants you to cdown and greet the guests." Morris was taken aback.
Then he sighed heavily. "Alright."
Lizzy added, "She also said you should wear something nice. You don't want to let her down."
