Chapter 855 Hmph, how dare he look down on his precious daughter. No way in the world would he ever let his darling marry someone who treats Vivian with such disregard.
By mid-afternoon, the weather pulled a fast one. What started as a gray, cloudy day suddenly turned into a wild thunderstorm, soaking everything with a torrential downpour.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMorris sat by the big window, staring outside with a worried look on his face. Nathalie, with her single kidney, couldn't afford to catch a cold. These sudden weather shifts were practically her worst nightmare. Back in the day, she'd get sick every tthe weather changed.
All of a sudden, Morris wheeled himself over to the closet. He grabbed a thick, plush fox-fur cashmere cloak and made a beeline for the door.
Just as he was about to head downstairs, he overheard Lincoln on the phone with his daughter: "Vivian, the weather's turned chilly all of a sudden, and you're not dressed for it. I'll have Lizzy bring you swarmer clothes. What's your address?" "Dad, I'm at a client's clothing store right now. I've already picked up a warm, cozy cloak. Don't worry about me. Oh, and Dad, remember to remind Nathan to put on an extra coat too; he gets cold easily." Lincoln was momentarily speechless. He glanced at Morris, who casually draped the cloak over his own lap. With a hint of sarcasm, Lincoln said to Nathalie, "Don't worry. He knows how to take care of himself." "Dad, make sure you take care of yourself too." Lincoln's face lit up with a smile: "Of course, sweetheart. You're such a considerate daughter." Listening to their conversation, Morris couldn't help but smile. How wonderful- fatherly love and a daughter's devotion. Nathalie's long-held wish, he had fulfilled it for her, right? Evening rolled around, and Nathalie still hadn't made it back. Dinner was just Lincoln and Morris. They'd agreed that Morris would help Nathalie move past her heartbreak, but there'd be no deeper relationship between them. They were allies, and things were cordial.
But this peace didn't last long.
Ashley showed up, loaded with extravagant gifts. She used the excuse of visiting her cousin, but she was really there for Morris.
Lincoln was all smiles for his niece "Ashley, bad timing! Your cousin had something cup and won't be Seckuntil later. Why don't you hang and wait for her?" But Ashley's eyes were locked on Morris: "Uncle, I'm not here to see my cousin tonight. I'm here for him." She pointed right at Morris.

With a stern face, he grilled Morris: "Nathan, do you know my niece?" Morris, cool as a cucumber, kept eating and replied casually, "Yeah." Lincoln slammed his fork down on the table: "Is it right to have so many female friends?"
Morris seemed to be pushing his buttons on purpose: "If you think it's not right maybe your darling daughter should steer clear of me."
Lincoln's face fell again. Having a daughter with such a romantic heart and her own issues, he couldn't myster the strength to be firm. All he could do was offer a sheepish, apologetic smile.
Meanwhile, Ashley was thrilled: "Nathan, if you're not into my cousin, I can whisk you away right now."
