Chapter 122 If Only This Lasts Forever

Just as Eileen was about to leave the restroom, someone appeared.

Ms. Ellen!

Richard?

Eileen could tell from his approach that he had something to say to her.

“May I have a quick word with you?”

As expected!

The voice-activated lights illuminated the emergency exit, while the floor below remained.

dark.

Eileen hesitated before asking, “What is it, Richard?”

“Ms. Eileen, please take a look at this.”

Richard handed her a piece of paper. Eileen unfolded it and realized it was a psychological medical

report indicating severe depression.

The report had been completed just over a week ago.

Eileen scrutinized the name column several times to confirm that it was Jasper’s.

Her heart skipped a beat. “W-what’s this?”

He seems perfectly normal in private and at school, as if nothing is wrong.

“As you’ve observed, Ms. Eileen, Mr. Smith hasn’t fully recovered from his illness. No matter how much

we urge him to take his medication, he consistently declines, citing his busy work schedule. Mr. Smith

also has a bad temper. Just a few days ago, he struck a shareholder who opposed his project proposal

during the shareholders meeting. This type of incident has happened repeatedly. If this pattern

continues, other shareholders may propose removing Mr. Smith from his position.”

Eileen asked, “So, Richard, what would you like me to do?”

He pleaded, “For the sake of the many times Mr. Smith has helped you, please persuade him to

receive treatment. Right now, you’re the only one who can convince him.”

Eileen furrowed her brows and hesitated. “Richard, you’ve been by his side for so many years, and you

haven’t been able to persuade him. I’ve only met him a few times…”

chard responded. Ms. Eileen, you’re a smart woman. Mr. Smith has done so much for you;

rapossible for you net to understand his feelings. Last time, he had a surgery planned, bin he let the

operating theater iminiediately and hurried to the school when he learned that you were in trouble. Mr.

Smith explicitly instructed everyone not to disclose this to you, Unfortunately, I now find it necessary to

He has actually done so much for me! What else has Jasper done in addition to all of this?

Awhile later, Eileen returned to the private room and sat next to Jasper.

As she lifted her head, her gaze met his.

“What’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?” His voice was very gentle.

He held her hand, and she could feel his warmth.

“Why are your hands so cold?”

Upon witnessing their intimate behavior, a hint of inexplicable sorrow flashed in Eric’s eyes.

“I washed my hands a moment ago.” Eileen rose from her seat, retrieved the bowl in front of him, and

served him some vegetable soup. She had specifically ordered the dish for him, yet he had not even

tried a spoonful.

All eyes in the private room turned toward her. Yvette remarked playfully, “Eileen, why are you being so

kind to my brother, going as far as serving him soup? What about me? Are you showing favoritism?”

Eileen lowered her head as she could sense a burning gaze fixated on her. She pretended not to care

and said, “I can serve you too if you’d like to try some.”

Yvette looked at Jasper and smiled. “Forget it. I wouldn’t dare to compete for favor with my brother.

Jasper, you should eat more today.”

“Stop being cheeky, Yvette.”

“Got it.”

Eileen sat down and placed the bowl in front of him, saying, “Try it and see if it’s cold. If it is, I’ll ask the

kitchen to make another bowl of soup.”

Jasper smiled and replied, “Sure.”

Yvette felt like she had just witnessed a public display of affection and then turned to look at the person

beside her. “Mr. Snow, let me serve you some food. You should have more lentil stew. It’s great for your

skin, and no one will know that you’re already over thirty years old.”

Puola, who was eating, let out a chuckle.

Yvette asked, What are you laughing at?”

Paola quickly denied, “No, I wasn’t laughing. I got choked.”

Yvette ignored her and continued serving Eric. “Hurry up and try it to see if it’s cold. If it is, Tll tell the

kitchen to make you a new bowl.” Clearly, she was imitating Eileen.

Eileen lowered her head, a faint blush coloring her ears as she felt a hint of embarrassment.

She did that only because of what Richard had told her about Jasper.

His condition had worsened, his depression medication had run out, and he hardly ate anything each

day.

Jasper had been a great help to her, and for that, Eileen was immensely grateful.

She couldn’t bring herself to reject him, even if it was done in front of Eric.

Every individual had a unique personality. She couldn’t simply continue being a puppet, yielding to his

every command.

When the clock struck half past nine, Vera said, “Eric, I’m feeling a bit tired. I think I’ll head back first.”

Eric checked his watch. “Yes, it’s getting late. Let’s go.” He sounded indifferent, yet his tone was colder

than usual.

Vera barely ate. Her mind was completely elsewhere, lost in her thoughts.

“It’s getting late, and you have classes tomorrow. Let me take you home.” Jasper told Eileen.

Yvette quickly chimed in, “Jasper, you should take Eileen home. I came with Mr. Snow, so I want him to

take me back!”

Instantly, she wrapped her arms around Eric’s.

Jasper looked at Eileen, seemingly waiting for her response.

She caught his gaze and stammered, “O-Okay.”

Yvette declared, “Perfect, everything is well-arranged!”

Shortly after, Eileen announced, “Paola, I’ve requested a driver to take you all home. Be

careful and stay safe on you: way back!”

Paola was so full that he lounged in his chair with the others. “Okay! Enough with the lectures

Eileen left with Jasper, and they had to wait at the entrance for Fabian to retrieve the car from the

underground parking lot.

The night wind was a bit chilly.

A jacket was quickly draped over Eileen’s shoulders.

She turned around and gazed at the gray suit. “You have plenty of clothes at my place. I don’t feel very

cold, so you should wear it.”

Jasper’s lips curved up, and he cast a warm smile at her. “It’s not a problem. You can give them back to

me whenever you want.”

Eileen didn’t say anything else. She felt something in the pocket and reached inside to check. “What’s

this?” she asked.

She pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a metal lighter from the pocket.

That lighter seemed to be the same model as Elm’s, but in a different color.

“Have you fully recovered? You should cut down on smoking. I’ll hold onto these for now and return

them when you’re in better health.”

“As you wish.”

Jasper came to realize that identical words, when spoken by different people, could evoke different

emotions within him.

The person standing before him would always hold a special place in his heart.

Finally, she could look him in the eyes without averting her gaze!

If only this moment could last forever, Eileen. How I long for her to show me affection, and only me.

“Are you still taking medication? Why don’t you carry it with you?”
