Chapter 109 Not Going To Work

Paola revealed the truth to her. It turned out that the person who had saved her from the sea wasn’t

Eric, but Elm?

Eileen was well aware of how much Elm despised her. Whenever she was bullied at school, he was

always the first one to target her.

That’s why she had to switch classes.

If that was really the case, then Elm’s strange comments to her before would make sense. No

wonder…

Paola soon left, leaving only Eileen and Hector behind.

It wasn’t until a female police officer emerged from the detention room that Eileen was called in as well.

Hector, handcuffed, sat across from her. The policewoman sternly began, “Start talking. Why did

you resort to violence?”

“It’s all her fault… She’s the one to blame!” Hector’s emotions suddenly surged. His ferocious feelings

seemed as if they wanted to tear her apart.

“Quiet down! Sit down now.”

Eileen feigned calm as she looked at him, a murderous intent lurking in her eyes. “We’ve never had

much communication between us. If this is all about joining the Olympiad Math Class, you could have

just told me. I didn’t necessarily have to join. You had a bright future ahead of you. Look at what you’re

doing now. You’re destroying yourself with your own hands!”

“Shut up! What do you know! It’s all because of you… If you hadn’t suddenly joined Class Six, I

wouldn’t have been kicked out. All I needed was to get this scholarship, and my mom could have been

saved! Now, the scholarship is gone, and so is my guaranteed admission to

Hulbury University. My mom got the call… She was so overwhelmed that she died of shock… I didn’t

even get to see her one last time.”

Eileen was instantly stunned..

“Eileen! You’re a menace. It’s all your fault! Why did you have to come! Why did you have to take

everything from me? My life is completely ruined now! It’s you. It’s all you! What that person just said is

right-you are indeed a tragedy maker!”

It seemed as if all of Eileen’s strength had been drained from her body.

When Mary came to pick her up, Eileen seemed as if her soul had been sucked out, leaving only an

empty shell. She had no idea how she left the police station.

Once she arrived home, the scolding voice of Will echoed in her ears, but she didn’t take in a single

word. She stumbled back into her own room, a room dark as pitch without the lights

1.

Eileen, in a daze, didn’t even bother to take off her clothes before she crawled directly into bed. The

balcony window was still open, letting in the chilly wind.

That night, all that filled Eileen’s mind were the hysterical words Hector had said to her!

Was it really her fault?

She clearly hadn’t done anything wrong. She was just doing what she believed was right.

She never thought of taking away someone else’s belongings.

She simply wanted to rely on her own efforts to achieve what she desired.

Inside, it felt as if a wall had suddenly collapsed.

Eileen was injured, and naturally, Will couldn’t pretend not to see it. He couldn’t hide it from him either.

It was now the weekend.

The people from the police station came knocking on the door.

At the moment, Eileen couldn’t hide it even if she wanted to.

Going by Will’s way of doing things, no matter how good Hector’s grades were, if he didn’t have a

strong backing, he might spend his entire life in prison. Moreover… in jail, he would likely endure

inhuman torture.

Elsie came by to see her, reaching out to touch her forehead. “Did you leave the window open last

night?”

“When I arrived this morning, I noticed all the doors were open. I called out for quite a while, but Ms.

Eileen didn’t respond. I thought she might be sick, and alas, she really is,” Mary said, pulling a

thermometer from her pocket. “Her temperature is so low. Should we call a doctor to come and see her,

Ms. Field?”

Elsie replied, “Wait a moment. First, prepare a few hot packs for her, cover her hands and

feet, then add another layer of blanket for her. Then, set the air conditioning to twenty-eight degrees.

That should be fine. Don’t make it too hot.”

“All right, I’ll go

now.”

Mary walked out, muttering to herself, “What on earth happened? Something’s been off since she

came back last night, and now she’s sick. Oh dear, I hope she hasn’t run into any trouble again.”

Mary looked up, startled by the sudden appearance of a person she hadn’t noticed before. “Oh my, Mr.

Snow, are you here to see Ms. Eileen? She’s ill at the moment, I’ll go fetch her a hot pack.”

“Last night, at the police station?” His tone was icy.

Mary nodded, finding the man too intimidating to hide anything from. She spilled everything about the

events of the previous night to him.

“Last night, around eleven… Ms. Eileen called me, asking me to pick her up without mentioning

anything. When I arrived there, her hand was injured. Upon returning home, she was scolded by Mr.

Swan. Then she went upstairs to rest. This morning, out of concern, came to check on her, only to find

her in such a state. I suspect she must have been frightened.”

“Why didn’t you just call me?”

With a troubled expression, Mary said, “This… was… ordered by Ms. Eileen. Ms. Eileen said. that

since you… aren’t very familiar with each other, she shouldn’t bother you.”

I

Bother? Hasn’t she caused me enough trouble with the messes she’s made? So it’s settled then she

wants to sever ties with me?

The relationship between them wasn’t something she could simply dismiss.

Eric went to the room to take a look at her, sizing up the area on her hand. His gaze then fell on the

long scar on her forearm. The wound had healed and scabbed over, leaving behind an ugly centipede-

like scar. The area around the wound was still a bit red.

“Feeling heartache?” Elsie’s voice echoed from outside the door.

That day, she was dressed in a vintage red gown, swaying her slender waist as she walked over and

sat by the bed. In her hand, she held a box of ointment, a small container made of transparent

moonstone.

Elsie opened the lid, dabbed a bit with her index finger, and applied it to the scar on Eileen’s arm.

“She’s precious-her body cannot have a single scar. Will has been relying on her for a long time

because the Swan family’s future position in Hulbury depends on her!”

Eric asked, “What are you trying to say?”

Elsie’s red lips curved upward. “Don’t you know better than I do? She is involved with the Smith family’s

heir; Will has known about it for a while. Last time, she got into a fight at school over Vera, causing the

company to lose tens of millions in business. However, the CEO of Smith Corporation promptly sent

over a billion. Isn’t the purpose clear? Will is also interested. He is trying to bring the two together. In

the future, Eileen might become part of the Smith family. Eric… your plan, it’s not going to work!”

With the Smith family’s intervention, things would become even more difficult to navigate.

The

person on the bed let out a groan of discomfort, immediately silencing the voices of the two people.

The wound was healing, sprouting new skin tissue, which was a bit itchy. Uncomfortably, Eileen

withdrew her hand.

Jeez, what plan are they talking about? Why did I hear something I shouldn’t have again? What are

these two up to? What should I do now?

Mary’s eyes darted around. Filled with fear, she turned her head and retraced her steps the staircase,

pretending she had just ascended.

She entered with the hot pack.

“Ms. Field, the hot pack is ready.”

“Give it to me.”

Elsie took it from her hands and personally tucked it into the quilt.
