Chapter 107 Regret

“Eric!” Eileen raised her hand in anger, aiming to slap his face, but he anticipated her move and firmly

grabbed her wrist. The man taunted lightly, “Trying to hit me, huh? You’re being naughty again!”

Eileen struggled to pull her hand back from his grip, her gaze unwavering. “I won’t submit to you. Do

whatever you want! From now on… I won’t beg you anymore.”

She found her own naivety laughable. Eric’s purpose was to watch her suffer and helplessly try to

survive in the Swan residence.

Who would have thought that I would actually consider pleading with him!

I must be out of my mind!

Walking into the living room, she saw Will and Elsie dining.

“Father, Aunt Elsie!”

Without lifting his head, Will responded, “Where’s Eric?”

Eric greeted, “Father.”

“Perfect timing. I’m having a meal with Elsie. Come join us.”

“It’s all right. I still have to go to the office. I have a meeting later.”

Will put down his fork. Seeing this, Elsie handed him a handkerchief. Will wiped his mouth and tossed it

aside. “Thank you for your hard work. What did the doctor say? What illness is it this time?”

Eileen lowered her head, feeling somewhat suffocated. “Father… I…”

“This doesn’t concern you. If you’re not feeling well, go upstairs and rest.”

“Alright, Father.”

Will had always treated her this way, and she had long since grown accustomed to it. In this household,

she didn’t have much say.

Eileen walked to the staircase when suddenly, Will’s voice echoed from behind. “I heard you’ve

switched classes?”

“Yes.”

“Now that you’ve switched classes, settle down and focus on finishing the last half year studies.”

of

“Alright.”

Eileen returned to her room, anxiously lying on the lounge chair in the balcony. Every emotional wave

made her stomach hurt even more. The hot pack in her hand was no longer as warm. Thinking about

his words, Eileen was so angry that she threw the hot pack. It happened to hit the pot of Devil’s Ivy,

knocking it over. The soil inside spilled all over the ground.

What on earth did Eric say to Will?

What should I do if he knows everything?

That day, the weather was simply splendid. The sky was clear, the sun was shining brightly, and the

warmth of the sunlight was quite comforting.

But to Eileen, all these were harbingers of an impending storm.

The sound of leather shoes hitting against the wooden marble floor rang out right then. “I really thought

your temper had changed.” Eric looked at the room, which was in complete disarray. Carefully avoiding

the shattered vase pieces, he walked toward the balcony, from where he could see the mountainous

landscape.

Does she live here?

This room is far less refined than the original one, with its Blake-washed walls devoid of any

decoration. The sound of a leaking faucet from the bathroom is audible, and a few paintings are hung

on the wall.

The floor isn’t soft enough…

She usually prefers to walk barefoot, stepping on the carpet, but now there’s only the cold floor tiles…

Yet, it can’t change her habits.

She’s not at all picky about where she’s living now.

Eileen was in so much pain that she couldn’t get up. “It’s none of your business!”

After being scolded, Eric didn’t actually get angry.

Eileen didn’t want to see him. She stood up, the pain unbearable. It wasn’t because she was cold, but

she was completely infuriated..

Walking up to the table, she opened the medicine she had brought back from the hospital

and poured out a few painkillers. The doctor’s advice was to take one, but habitually, Eileen poured out

an extra one.

The medicine was procured by Eric, so he knew how much should be taken. Yet, seeing the situation,

he did not stop it.

Eileen took her medicine, washing it down with the half glass of water left from last night. It was already

cold, but she had no choice but to gulp it down. “I’ve already distanced myself from you. If you’re still

not satisfied, I can apply to live on campus in the second half of the year. If you’ve seen enough,

remember to close the door when you leave. I need to rest now.”

Her voice was weak and feeble. Even climbing into bed was an arduous task.

It seemed that Eric hadn’t told Will about her health condition yet; otherwise, Will would have sent

someone to drag her downstairs by now.

Surprisingly, Eric was acting like a decent person for once. Eileen had no idea what kind of mischief he

was plotting in his heart.

She didn’t get much rest last night, only getting a few hours of sleep. She nuzzled against her pillow,

drowsily burying herself in the comfort of her blanket.

He can stay here for as long as he wants.

Eric looked over and noticed two coats hanging on the wooden rack. They were extremely out of place

among the other women’s clothes, strikingly conspicuous to the eye.

The man frowned in displeasure.

Eileen didn’t know when Eric had left. She also hadn’t clearly heard what he had said.

As soon as Eric descended the stairs, Mary came out from the kitchen. “Mr. Snow, has Ms. Eileen

taken her medicine? This medicine is particularly effective for menstrual periods. My daughter-in-law

also takes this when she has her period. Oh, you wouldn’t know. It’s such a torment for girls during this

time. They suffer so much. I just bought it this morning. It absolutely has no side effects!”

The man simply walked away without uttering a word.

Mary watched the aloof figure leaving and rolled her eyes at his retreating back, her face showing a

hint of disdain. “He ignored me. What kind of person is this!” She glanced upstairs, shaking her head.

“This… won’t do…”

The more I look, the less he seems like a good person.

He’s actually quite handsome, though.

What a waste of a good-looking face.

Eric pressed the key button, opened the car door, and sat in the driver’s seat. His deep gaze

thoughtfully fell on a corner not far away as his index finger rhythmically tapped on the steering wheel.

Eileen’s anguished expression flashed through his mind. She was clutching her abdomen, causing his

thoughts to become chaotic.

Just then, the phone on the side rang, and Eric picked it up with one hand. “Who is it?”

A light laughter came from the phone. “Getting old? You ask that every time.”

“What’s up?”

Zachary said, “I’ve reviewed the CT report you sent over. I have good news and bad news. Which one

would you like to hear first?”

“Do you think I have a lot of free time?”

“Right, you’re a busy man. I won’t beat around the bush, then. You were the one who wanted to

administer the medicine. The problem now is something we anticipated. Eric, don’t tell me you’ve

changed your mind so quickly! Perhaps… Eileen is truly innocent… It’s just that Eileen has been

ruined, that’s all…”

“I want to hear the result.” The man’s voice was low and somewhat icy.

“Alright, then. I’ll tell you! The good news is, Eileen doesn’t need to undergo a hysterectomy. The bad

news is, even without the hysterectomy, she still won’t be able to conceive. We can only rely on

medication to gradually restore her health, but the deformity in her uterus is irreversible. It’s too late for

regrets now… I’ve told you that there’s no room for remorse after doing such things. Don’t tell me

you’ve actually fallen for Eileen?”

Zachary didn’t receive a response before the call abruptly ended.

Never did I imagine that you would one day regret it, Eric!

After returning from the hospital, Eileen hardly ate anything. By the next day, she had mostly recovered

and returned to school.

Since she had taken a day off yesterday, she had to make up for the classes she had missed.

Fortunately, even though Yvette only had a superficial relationship with her, she didn’t refuse when

Eileen asked for her notes.

As usual, she spent her morning studying.

When Eileen and Yvette passed by Class One after the last class in the afternoon, Vera saw them and

called out, “Eileen…”
