Chapter 837

When Sarah woke up, her whole body ached. Her head was spinning, like she was hungover and had been in a

fight.

She shut her eyes for a second, then slowly pushed herself up on the bed, careful with every movement.

Just then, the blanket beside her shifted.

She froze.

Her neck stiffened as she turned to the left, eyes landing on a pair of long lashes -way too long for a woman's.

Her gaze drifted down over a straight nose... and slightly swollen lips that somehow looked even more attractive.

Sarah gulped. What the hell did | do last night?

Before she could even start to piece things together, Zachary stirred beside her, his internal clock waking him up

right on time.

His deep, velvety voice startled her, "You're up. Hungry?"

Sarah jumped like she'd been electrocuted, her expression pure panic.

Zachary couldn't help but laugh. The way he smiled-so bright, so easy-it lit up the whole room.

Half her face went red in an instant. She whipped her head away and muttered, "Why are you in my bed?"

He sat up, leaned casually against the headboard, and raised an eyebrow. "You sure this is your room? Your

bed?"

Sarah glanced around. The decor was way too fancy, and the furniture didn't look anything like hers.

Yeah... definitely not her place.

She turned her back to him, trying to retrace what happened. Thankfully, even though she'd been drugged, she

hadn't completely blacked out. She remembered the important parts.

That bastard Leon. It had to be him.

Even someone as patient as Sarah wanted to punch him in the face. If Zachary hadn't shown up in tto get

her out of there... she didn't even want to think about the consequences.

Zachary was just as furious.

He kept replaying it in his head-what if the people he sent hadn't picked up on something being wrong? What if

he hadn't made it in time?

He'd lose it.

His expression darkened, voice dropping to a chilling calm. "Don't worry. | won't let him get away with it."

Somehow, those words gave Sarah a strange kind of strength. Like nothing else mattered in that moment—just

his voice, and the way he looked at her.

She turned to face him, her tone steady. "I'll handle it."

Zachary frowned. "Don't tellyou're going soft."

She shot him a glare. "Hardly. I've already figured out what to do. So stay out of it for now."

Seeing she was serious, Zachary backed off a little. "Alright. What's the plan?"

Sarah didn't feel like spelling it out in front of the whole room. Instead, she crooked a finger at him. When he

leaned in, she whispered the plan into his ear. After that, Zachary headed to the bathroom.

Sarah hesitated for a beat... then made up her mind.

May as well go all in.

She threw her clothes on as fast as humanly possible, tiptoed out of the room, and bolted.

The house staff were already up and working. One of them greeted her warmly, "Good morning, Miss Sanders!

Would you like sbreakfast?"

Sarah froze like a thief caught red-handed, quickly raising a finger to her lips. "Shhh!"

She glanced back upstairs—no movement. Finally, she exhaled in relief.

The housekeeper gave her a puzzled look but lowered her voice anyway. "Is something wrong, Miss?"

"No, no,” Sarah said, totally winging it. "I've got a ton of work at school. Really busy. I'll head out now-don't worry

about me!"

Before the woman could reply, Sarah darted for the door like she was being chased by a wild animal.

What she didn't know was that Zachary was standing on the

landing the whole tnet

escape with a grin full of

her

amusement and affection s

Little rabbit's already fallen into the trap.

She might've gotten away for now, but it's only a matter of tbefore I catch her again.

After all, the second time's always easier.

Back at school, Sarah grabbed a quick bite at the cafeteria, then went to prep her materials.

What she was about to do... she'd never tried on a human before. But she had successfully hypnotized animals-

rabbits, dogs, even a cat or two.

It wasn't foolproof, but she had to try. Otherwise, she'd never get this rage out of her system.

Unsurprisingly, Leon still hadn't given up. Even after getting exposed, he was clinging to hope.

Sarah didn't call him out on it. She

pretended nothing had happened

keeping her tone and expression

exactly the same, masking her

disgust like a pro.

Leon had planned to pour his heart out today. He'd even rehearsed what he was going to say.

"Miss Sanders," he said, eyes wide with fake innocence, "where did you end up last night after you got drunk?"

Sarah froze for a second, then clenched her jaw and played her part: furious and offended. "Nowhere. | just got

bitten by a dog."

Sorry, Zachary, she thought to herself. You're gonna have to take one for the

team. If | want Leon to let his guard down, this is the only way.

As for poor Zachary, who suddenly felt a chill down his spine and sneezed several

times in a row, he was the last thing on her mind.

Leon watched her carefully, trying to figure out if she was lying. Her reaction

looked genuine, so he went on with the act.

"Did someone hurt you?" he asked gently.

He reached for her hand.

She pulled away.

Leon's expression shifted to one

of

wounded longing. "Miss Sanders,

can't you see how | feel? You don't have to carry everything alone. Lethelp you." s

Sarah bit her lip and looked at him. "You really mean that?"
