Protagonist's Evil System: My Girlfriend Turned Into A Dragon
Chapter 51 Heading Out"You'll need them to protect you when you're in your human form, Kali."
There was no question about it, Lucas was making a clear statement in that room. Xina and Haya had heard it correctly, and it was up to them whether to take it personally or ignore it.
Lucas was tired of being taken for a joke in this place.
If he wanted to be the main character of this place, he'd to act like one. This place was somewhere in the game, and every game had its rules and descriptions to follow.
He'd already chosen his comrade and the team was formed without many interruptions, it didn't look like he'd much to talk to them about.
But that was going to change from now on.
Lucas will get more involved in this game, he'll make the system obey him and in the end, Lucas will win this game. He's to bring Kali home and he's to make this impudent system fulfil his wish.
"It's getting cold now, maybe we should hurry before dusk sets in," Xina asked a question while ignoring Lucas' statement.
Judging by the changed and blank faces, Lucas was well aware of the mood, they'd to go.
The faster they reached the castle and defeated the monster, the faster the system would give them a new mission, 'Tournament...' Lucas pulled down his sleeves to cover his wrists.
"Haya, we should go now."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLucas didn't even bother with the gem anymore, if Haya was willing to use it to pay for the blades, Lucas wouldn't question anything.
He'd been here longer than him, Haya had to know and understand more about this world and its laws than Lucas.
The system here was like a king, you'd obey or die, but the difference was for Lucas: it didn't listen to him.
It didn't care enough for him either, but the way it had treated Lucas and Kali so far, he knew it was hard to resist.
The system could give you awards and level advancement, and that could bring Lucas new avatars, spirits and abilities to help him get out of this world. It wasn't an ideal plan, but he'd follow it no matter what, and that pesky Izek inside was still bothering Lucas.
' I'm going to get out of here...' Lucas clenched his fist, "What does he mean?" He whispered
"What do you mean? I said we should leave now." Xina frowned.
Irritable and impatient, are two words Lucas could use to describe Xina. At one small point she reminded Lucas of Izek, 'but if Izek was her lover, why is she mad at me?' That kept him guessing because it made no sense to him.
"I wasn't talking to you, I was just thinking out loud, Xina." Lucas forced the corners of his lips to lift, causing small wrinkles to form on his forehead.
He wrenched his eyes open a little, 'this isn't the time,' and blinked behind him. This place was small and downstairs looked uncomfortable, they'd what they came for and now it was time to get out of there.
'I'll ask him about the gems later.' He glanced at Haya, who was paying the vendor for the blades.
"We're ready." Haya handed him a silver handle for his scimitar so he couldn't cut himself, "and this for you." He held out the dagger, already protected inside.
"Thank you, Haya..." Kali took his gift and stared at it for a second.
Her eyelids slowly closed as she breathed in more air, "Okay, I'm okay." She whispered, but Lucas heard her.
He stepped closer to her and gently placed a hand on her shoulder, "it's going to be okay Kali, trust me." His eyes lit up a little.
"So, if everyone is ready, we should be on our way." Haya turned to Xina, who had her arms crossed in front of her chest. One of her legs was still shaking, making things around her vibrate.
"Yes, let's go." She put her hand to her lips as if biting down on them.
They all started to walk down the stairs and surprisingly everything seemed dead silent as if no one was there anymore.
"Don't you think that's strange?" Lucas turned back to Haya, who was walking behind him.
"No, it's as it should be." He replied in his usual calm tone.
"How much further is it to..." Kali slipped on the last step and almost fell over.
Lucas was quick enough to catch her from behind with both his hands, "are you okay?" He pulled his head closer to her right cheek.
"Y-yes!" She stood up and gently shook Lucas's hands off her shoulders, "I was not watching my step." Her cheeks turned even redder as her body heated.
"Kali, are you okay?" Lucas tried to touch her cheek with his cold hand.

Xina and Haya watched the situation from above, turned to each other and grinned. Lucas and Kali reminded them of two birds in love just getting to know each other.
"It's nice to see them getting along," Haya whispered to Xina, who was smiling creepily at that moment.
"Oh, that reminds me, Lucas!" Haya quickened his steps downstairs to speak to him.
"When we go out, get ready to fight, if I remember correctly, there will be someone waiting for us outside."
Kali immediately turned back to them, widening her eyes as she heard Haya say these words, "Wait, why would they be waiting for us outside? What have we done?"
"That's the part of the story, random fights like this will happen often, Kali." "Okay, I get it." Lucas inhaled more air as his heartbeat began to beat faster and sweaty fingers slid into his palms, but he felt ready to fight.
This was the moment to prove to himself how much he had grown as a character here, and if he was going to lead the team, he could not show fear on his face.
Slowly they all started to walk towards the door, past the strange looking bartender who oddly enough was not serving drinks to anyone at the bar.
The old cracking floor was making squishing noises again, *heee* *heee*
That awkward silence filled the room, and when Lucas was next to the door, he took another breath, "let us go."
He opened the old, shabby door and turned to the night street view, blessed by the shining stars in the sky,
"Haya, what is it?"
