It was almost 6:00 p.m., and Avery was getting worried since she hadn't seen Nadine and Sean yet.

When Nadine's worried voice cthrough the phone, Avery felt a rare sense of comfort and tried to smile. "Avery, that jerk, Brad, took Sean away and lefton the side of the road. I don't know where to go." Avery was Nadine's closest friend, someone she shared everything with. Even though they weren't related by blood, they were like real sisters. Nadine spoke to Avery about everything.

Sometimes, Nadine felt really lucky to have such a good friend. Without Avery, Nadine wasn't sure she could have gotten through those six lonely years.

Avery was really mad when she found out that Brad was causing trouble. She started yelling and cursing at him over the phone, which made Nadine laugh even though she was upset.

"Sweetie, with your way with words, you should be on TV. If you were, people would watch just to hear you talk!" Hearing Nadine laugh made Avery feel a bit better. She spoke more gently. "Brad's just a jerk. He can't do much besides use Sean to mess with you.

"Honestly, don't go back tonight. Let's see what Brad can do. I'll call Sean and let him know what's going on. Maybe you two can cup with a plan." Brad's threats involving Sean were getting out of control. It was tto show him that Nadine wasn't going to be easily pushed around.

Nadine felt better after talking to Avery. She realized Avery was right. She couldn't let Brad keep using Sean to control her forever. If things didn't change, she'd never be able to get a divorce.

Thanks to Avery's call, Nadine finally knew what to do. Instead of going back to Phoenix Villa, she decided to head to Rose Garden. She took a taxi there.

When Avery opened the door and felt how cold Nadine's hands were, she quickly pulled Nadine inside and turned on the heater.

"Nadine, what were you thinking?" Avery asked, clearly upset as she walked around the kitchen.

"You were outside in the cold for so long and didn't even askfor help. Do you even think ofas a friend?" Avery's voice was filled with frustration and worry.

"If I hadn't called you, where were you going to spend the night? On a park bench?" Avery's tone was firm, showing how upset she was. "Do you want to freeze to death in this weather?" Nadine felt like a kid who had done something wrong. She didn't know what to say, so she looked down at the floor.

"I didn't think it through..." Nadine's voice was quiet and full of embarrassment.

Avery sighed and gently tapped

Nadine on the forehead, "Listen, this If is the last tI'm telling you this. If tyling you do something like this again, we're done being friends. You'll have to findin another life!"

Nadine found Avery's reaction a bit funny. She took the spatula from Avery's hand and smiled. "Okay okay? 'shanda Don't be mad. I'll cook dinner to make it up to you. Is that alright?" The two friends smiled at each other and let go of their worries.

In the warm kitchen of Rose Garden, they were busy cooking and berating about Brad. They made jokes and enjoyed each other's company as they prepared the meal.

When the food was ready, they stopped joking about Brad. Avery opened a bottle of red wine and poured a glass for Nadine.

"Here's to finally getting over that jerk. He didn't appreciate you, so let him deal with his own problems! Cheers to moving on and seeing things clearly!"

Nadine took a big gulp of the wine, feeling relieved to have finally seen Brad's true colors. Avery poured another glass and asked, "Do you want to talk to my godson now?"
