Esther sat on the bed in her house in Jorlandia and scrolled through her Twitter feed, feeling furious. Frustrated,

she tossed her phone aside. She thought, ‘Elysia and | are both part of the Evans family, but why are we treated

differently?

Fuming with frustration, she jumped off the bed, flung open the door, and stormed downstairs.

Ashley and Jim sat on the couch in the living room, their faces dark and stern. When they saw Esther rushing

downstairs, Ashley immediately said, “What's the rush? You always act so reckless,”

Her tone held a hint of reproach, and since Esther was already in a bad mood, hearing this only made her

angrier.

Esther said, “Are you criticizing me? No matter how well | behave, it doesn’t make any difference. They'll always

care more about that bumpkin who cfrom the small town.

“I don’t care what they think, but Grandma never posts on Twitter. She actually posted just to give that bumpkin

scredibility by proving her identity.”

Ashley sneered and thought, “There’s nothing you can do. After all, you are the daughter of the second wife of

the second son of the Evans family. You always csecond.”

Jim, already irritated, beceven more agitated after hearing Ashley's harsh words. “What are you talking

about? Don't say things like that again!”

“Am | wrong?” Ashley shot back. “This is the truth and everyone knows it. Stop lying to yourself.”

Ashley showed no sign of restraint, while Jim, despite his frustration, never said anything harsh. He knew Elysia

wasn’t someone to be underestimated, and the fact that so many people posted for her wasn’t solely because of

the Evans family.

He couldn't forget the look Elysia gave him during their last conversation by the gate. Without full confidence, he

couldn't afford to act rashly.

Upstairs, Olive overheard their conversation, and her face darkened drastically.

“Mrs. Evans, should we go downstairs?” the maid, who had been taking care of Olive, asked.

Olive said, “Yes. | want to see how mad this woman really is.”

The maid helped Olive down the stairs. When Ashley saw her, her expression immediately softened, and she put

on a bright smile as she walked over. “What brings you downstairs, Olive?”

“Am | interrupting your private conversation?” Olive replied in a sharp tone.

“Of course not. If you wanted to cdown, who would stop you?” Ashley lowered her voice slightly as she said

the last sentence, but her words were still clear to everyone in the room.

Jim's expression darkened even further, and he barked out, “Ashley!”

Ashley’s face immediately turned grim. She didn’t even try to hide her displeasure anymore. Instead, she down

on the couch with a dark scowl.

Jim, uninterested in her, got up and went over to assist Olive. “Mom, please sit down.”

Olive said unhappily, “No need. If you don’t wanthere, then fine, Ill leave. | won't beg you to letstay

here. | don’t want to live by others’ moods.”

“Ashley didn’t mean that, Mom. You misunderstood. Please sit down, Jim quickly interjected.

Only then did Olive sit down on the couch with Jim's help, and the atmosphere in the living room became

incredibly tense... With a stern face, Olive asked in an angry tone. “Esther, who did you just call a bumpkin?”

Esther immediately froze and didn’t know what to say, “Grandma, I...”

“She’s your cousin. You shouldn’t say things like that about her, Olive said.

“Esther, apologize now,” Jim ordered with a stern look.

Esther hurriedly said, “I'm sorry, Grandma.”

“Don’t ever say something like that again. Otherwise, there will be consequences.” Olive’s tone softened a little.

Although she wasn’t fond of Ashley, she still cared for Esther. She was still her granddaughter.

Throughout the entire conversation, Ashley remained silent because as long as Olive was there, she had no voice

in this family.

However, everything seemed fine with the Janssen family. Denzel, unaware of the trouble Bianca caused at

school, was scrolling through his phone. “What's wrong with the Evans family? They've never been this high-

profile before. Now they're all posting about their newly found daughter on Twitter.”

Rebecca, sitting beside him, said gently, “Why are you so interested in other people's business?”

“I'm just curious, babe,” Denzel said with a smile. He suddenly seemed to remember something and turned to

Bianca. “Elysia girl is a classmate of yours, right?”

Bianca's face turned pale, and

heart raced. Since she had seen the posts on Twitter, she had been in a state of panic. She could tell that the

Evans family’s actions were meant to confirm Elysia’s identity as a member of the family.

However, Bianca didn’t dare to say anything, let alone tell her parents what had happened at school. She still

hoped that they didn’t know about it and that maybe the Evans family was planning to let her off the hook.

She also remembered that Zane said he would send her a lawyer's letter. However, she hadn't received anything

yet. She wondered if he was deliberately trying to intimidate her, or if he had decided not to pursue the matter

further.

Noticing that Bianca was silent, Denzel turned to her. “What's wrong, Bianca?”

“Nothing,” said she.

“Really? Then why aren’t you answering my question?” Denzel smiled warmly.

“Question?” Bianca thought for a moment and nodded. “Yes, she is from our school.”

“I knew it.” Denzel smiled and turned to Rebecca. “Elysia is quite impressive. She ranked first in the grade, and |

heard that she did it even though she hadn't finished the last question.”

Hearing that, Bianca was taken aback. “Dad, how did you know?”

Denzel said, “I called your teacher the other day to check on your progress. He toldthat.”

Bianca finally understood, nodding in acknowledgment but not saying anything further.

Rebecca said, “She truly is a child of the Evans family. No matter what they do, they always stand out. | feel

sorry for her. She should've grown up with her dear family, but instead, she’s been left in a small town for so

long.”

“Exactly.” Denzel turned to Bianca and said, “I have to remind you, Bianca, now that everyone knows who Elysia

is, there will be people trying to get close to her. Don’t be one of them.
