Seeing this, Maureen considered how Geoffrey had been stubbornly lingering here. Besides, he truly couldn't

Jacob put down his schoolbag, walked over to Geoffrey, and sat down beside him.

The moment he finished, Geoffrey rapped his knuckles on Jacob's head.
Geoffrey turned stern: “I won't hear that twice. Stop browsing toxic nonsense online.”
Jacob knew his words were wrong-he’d just been testing his deadbeat dad.
Seemed the deadbeat wasn’t hopeless after all, knowing that was messed up.
