Zoe nodded in agreement.

Maureen also told Zoe that a friend had strouble and needed her to take care of it.

“Alright, go ahead. Don’t worry about me; | can take care of myself.”

How could Maureen feel at ease leaving her and Geoffrey alone at home.

“I'll hire a nurse to take care of you.”

Zoe knew that if she refused, Maureen wouldn't be reassured, so she nodded: “Alright.”

When Maureen went downstairs, breakfast was already set in the dining room, and there was

a note.

Geoffrey had written on the note in bold, flowing handwriting:

“I'm going to the hospital for a check-up.”

Geoffrey actually didn’t go to the hospital at all; instead, he had Wayne take him back to Pearl.

Wayne told him there were still confidential documents at Pearl.

Meanwhile, Noelle and Andrea sat in the Governor's Mansion.

This Noelle was no longer the down-and-out socialite she once was.

Five

years ago, after fleeing abroad with her son Adrian, she’d somehow charmed a wealthy Chinese businessman

into marrying her.

Now she was the socialite every Karaville matron scrambled to please-Andrea included, since her husband

controlled vast entertainment industry resources.

“Auntie, did Reenie agree to repay the money?” Andrea asked.

Noelle’s face flushed with anger as she hmphed. “That ungrateful wretch? Expecting her to

pay up willingly? Impossible!”

Andrea soothed her, “Don’t upset yourself-it's bad for your health. Shall | talk to her?

Reenie’s just stubborn. She doesn’t realize how much you've changed. If she knew, she'd return the money

immediately.”

But Noelle stopped her, arching her willow-leaf eyebrows. “Don’t you dare tell her who | am now. I refuse to

acknowledge her as my daughter.”

Andrea hadn't expected such coldness toward Noelle’s own flesh and blood.

“I understand.”

Her gaze

drifted to a framed photo on the table.

The photo showed a ballerina, bearing sresemblance to Maureen, standing on stage like a graceful white

swan.

“Elizabeth still resembles your biological daughter more,” Andrea complimented.

At the mention of Elizabeth, Noelle’s face lit with pride, her eyes softening with maternal affection. “Elizabeth is

my life. Had it not been for her, | wouldn't have endured all those years of hardship.”

Andrea knew little about Elizabeth, yet envied her-not just for her beauty, but for her powerful connections and

the rare favor she commanded from even a cold-hearted mother like Noelle.

As Andrea stepped out of the Governor's Mansion, her assistant immediately raised an umbrella.

“Andie, where to now?”

Andrea gazed at the heavy snowfall. “Pearl.”

During the recent Sutton Group shareholders’ meeting, Geoffrey had proven far from blind.

Though she’d secured resources from Noelle, if Geolliey never let her off the hook, she dared not appear in

public again.

After a night of heavy snow, servants were clearing snow outside Pearl.

Geoffrey sat in the car, not yet entered, when Wayne saw someone walk into the villa.

It was Alex.

Wayne immediately told Geoffrey, then asked: “Should we go over now?”

With so many servants at Pearl now, if Geoffrey went over, Alex's fake identity would be exposed.

Days ago, Alex briefly stayed at the old residence due to identity issues. Who knew he’d move into Pearl so fast?

First stole the identity and took the company, then the villa. Next, will he take the wife too?

“No rush.”

Geoffrey's voice snapped Wayne back to attention.

He had to park the car farther away first.

Though Wayne always followed Geoffrey, he'd only heard about his younger brother.

Today was the first tseeing him in person. He looked exactly like Geoffrey. If dressed the same, Wayne

couldn't tell them apart.

After all, Alex and Geoffrey were blood brothers. He ran the company better than that useless cousin Edward.

While waiting, a luxury van drove past them.

Wayne didn’t notice the person in that van was Andrea.

Inside Pearl, Alex scanned the rooms. When he reached Maureen’s bedroom, he saw a photo facedown on the

nightstand.

Alex picked up the photo with slender, well-shaped hands, flipping it over. His eyes tightened at the sight.

The picture showed Maureen and Geoffrey together. She stood beside Geoffrey in a crisp suit, dressed in a pure

white gown, tentatively holding his arm.

It was taken by a reporter at their Engagement Party, just after their engagement.

Maureen and Geoffrey had no wedding photos. She'd carefully kept this one as their stand-in wedding portrait.

Even when she decided on divorce later, she left it behind.

Alex stared silently until his private secretary Lisa Hill spoke from the doorway: “Second Master, someone's

asking for you downstairs.”

Lisa had stayed by Alex's side caring for him since his overseas treatment.

In Karaville, besides Heather, she was the only one who knew his true identity.

“Who?”

Alex asked.
