Chapter 430 Isadora felt a surge of emotion. Not long ago, she hadn't even laid eyes on Meade, and now here she was, addressing him as Mr. Walsh.

Of course, this "Mr. Walsh," along with all the polite smiles and eager greetings from those around her, had nothing to do with her own merits. It was all because she was about to becMrs. Fitzgerald.

She smiled lightly. "Mr. Walsh-you have quite the memory." A crisp, melodic voice rang out from across the room, as bright as a songbird's call: "Grandpa!" A young woman swept into view, her royal blue dress hugging her hourglass figure. A matching set of diamonds- necklace, earrings, and bracelet-caught the light with every graceful step she took.

Olivia Walsh, just twenty, was the picture of youthful beauty. She looped her arm through Meade's, her manner at once affectionate and just a touch imperious.

Meade's eyes softened as he looked at his granddaughter, his smile deepening. "This is my granddaughter, Olivia Walsh," he said with unmistakable pride. "And this," he added, turning to Isadora, "is Victor, Dorian's grandson-CEO of the Fitzgerald Group." The Fitzgerald family-the wealthiest in Capitolion. Isadora had heard of them, of course.

And Olivia, catching her grandfather's introduction, instantly realized that this was the very Mr. Victor Fitzgerald whose nhad been on everyone's lips since she'd moved back home. Every society girl in town seemed obsessed with him, and honestly, she'd never understood the fuss. He was just another rich man, wasn't he? Why act like he was skind of Greek god? Now, seeing Victor in person-tall, striking, with sharp, chiseled features and those deep-set eyes-Olivia finally understood the hype. He was, annoyingly, even better-looking than the rumors had suggested.

A flicker of curiosity-and something else-sparked within her.

"Grandpa!" Olivia called out again, her voice suddenly shy and sweet. Then she turned to Victor, smiling with practiced charm. "Hi, Victor. I'm Olivia—just Olivia, please." Victor nodded politely, his expression unreadable.

Meade shook his head with a fond chuckle. "Forgive her manners-everyone spoils my granddaughter, so she can be a bit cheeky. Now, where were we?" Isadora picked up the conversation without missing a beat. "I was saying, if it weren't for that loan from Legacy National Bank, our Vaughan Group's global project would never have launched so smoothly." Meade nodded. "It's fate, isn't it? When you and Victor get married, I'll make sure you receive a wedding gift worthy of the occasion." Married? Olivia's ears pricked up.

Wait, what? The man she'd just started to notice already spoken for? She shot Isadora a look, her eyes sweeping over her in open, unfiltered disdain. The animosity in her gaze was obvious to anyone paying attention.

So this was the woman who had been the center of attention earlier, stealing the spotlight in Olivia's own home. The realization only made Olivia's irritation burn hotter.

A man like Victor-wealthy, powerful, practically aristocracy-should, by rights, be paired with someone like her. Certainly not with supstart nobody.

Isadora lifted her head, meeting Olivia's glare with calm indifference. Sparks seemed to fly as their eyes locked. Olivia glowered, but Isadora simply looked away, unbothered.

For the first tin her life, someone was ignoring Olivia Walsh, and it made her blood boil.

Later, in the villa's back lounge, Olivia lit a cigarette and took a deep drag. Her voice was cold as ice when she spoke: "Find out everything you can about that woman."

Her two ever-present sidekicks, Leda and Sally, flanked her on either side. Leda twirled a manicured fingerm through her hair. "Didn't you say you the weren't interested in Mr. Victor Fitzgerald before? Why the sudden curiosity about his fiancée? Olivia shot her a glare. "Just do what I asked. Less talk, more action." Sally, savoring a forkful of cake, chimed in lazily, "Honestly, when the Fitzgeralds announced the engagement, the whole social scene went wild digging up her past." "She used to be dirt poor-then, twenty years later, the Vaughans took her back and she caused a huge scene, ran off the sweet Pearl Vaughan and the rest of them."

"Word is, she'll go after any man with status. First, she tried to seduce Magnus, but he dumped her forthis old flame. Not one to give up, she set hensights on Victor-and, well, got fucky. Now she's pregnant, Mr. Victor Fitzgerald has no choice but to marry her." Content bétongs to

Olivia stabbed out her cigarette, jaw clenched. That little vixen-she really knows how to play the game. I swear, nothing disgustsmore than a gold-digging homewrecker like her."
