Chapter 15 Return to Eastlake Manor
Finished
“Leah, Charmaine is just trying to drive a wedge between us. Don't listen to her. Don’t fall for it!” Milo quickly
reassured her.
Leah looked up at him, her eyes red, the picture of someone utterly heartbroken.
At that moment, Milo’s rage toward Charmaine surged he wanted nothing more than to see her destroyed!
He vividly recalled that childhood birthday when Leal had mysteriously promised him a special gift.
She had taken him to the beach, and that’s when he discovered that Leah, who had just learned to write, had
spelled out his non the sand using seashells. Milo had been both surprised and deeply moved.
But because of a moment's carelessness, Leah had been swept away by the tide and nearly didn’t make it back.
When the bodyguards pulled her from the water, she was already ice-cold. It took three days of emergency
treatment in the hospital to save her.
When they returned home, Milo had been punished by being locked in the small dark room, and his Leah, still
running a low fever, had snuck him food, despite her own condition.
From that day on, Milo silently vowed to protect Leah for the rest of his life. No matter who hurt her, he would
take them down.

All these years, no one had ever hurt Leah this deeply.
Even if Charmaine was his biological sister, it didn’t matter. He would make sure she paid!
The others slowly cback to their senses, and Valda couldn't contain her anger. “If | had known she would
cause such chaos in this family, | wouldn't have been soft-hearted and let her return. We should've left her to
fend for herself, dead or alive!”
“The only reason we brought her back was because we knew she had the sblood type as Leah. We thought
she could donate a kidney if needed,” Olympia said, her head lowered, her expression unreadable.
“Leah doesn’t need a transplant just yet. Besides, the Nelsons are wealthy enough that we can always find
another donor if it comes to that,” Willard said with a heavy sigh, echoing Olympia’s earlier thoughts.
“Charmaine has becthis way because we've been too lenient with her. Now she’s severing ties with us,
thinking we'll be easy to manipulate, hoping to use this as leverage to make us meet her unreasonable
demands.”
“She’s dreaming!” Valda snapped, eyes blazing with fury “She’s burned her bridges with both the Nelsons and
the Reads. If she’s so stubborn, I'd like to see how long she can hold out before she comes crawling back!”

Standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows of the three-story villa, a man watched as Charmaine stepped out of
the car, his sharp jawline tightening.
Tad, standing behind the man’s wheelchair, added quicly. “It was Mr. Kane who had the driver wait for her at the
Nelsons.”
Emyr remained silent.
After a pause. Tad recounted everything that had just happened at the Nelsons.
Emyr raised an eyebrow, a rare trace of amusement flickering across his face. “A woman who eloped with some
good-for-nothing to South Aspus... and now she appraising antiques, huh?”
He shot Tad a sideways glance. “Who told you | was interested in hearing about her? | don’t care.”
Tad quickly lowered his head. “Sorry, | overstepped.”
Emyr withdrew his gaze and steered his wheelchair around, heading straight for the exit.
Tad followed, concerned. “Mr. Emyr, aren't you going to rest?”
Ever since Emyr had returned
It was now almost 11 PM now.
from that place, he had adhered strictly to a 10 PM bedtime.
“Ifl don’t go check on things, Kane will probably have her in my room by tonight.”
Tad was stunned.
Mr. Emyr certainly knew Mr. Kant well...

Downstairs, the butler, Alfred Foster, was giving Charmaine a brief introduction to the layout of the estate.
“The east side features a greenhouse garden, and on the west side, there's a golf course. Mr. Kane instructed me
to prepare a guest room on the second floor for you. Ms. Nelson, please rest for the night, and tomorrow | can
show you around.”
“Alright. Thank you, Alfred.”
“You're too kind, Ms. Nelson.”
Charmaine glanced around the villa. The modern Lyria-style decor was simple yet exuded understated elegance
and luxury.
“I hope I'm not disturbing this late. Are Emyr and Kane asleep?”
Alfred replied, “Mr. Kane has gone for a walk at the university track. Mr. Emyr is resting upstairs.”
“A walk at the university this late? Is the estate not big enough for him?” Charmaine couldn't help but voice her
confusion.
Alfred gave her a tactful look. “Mr. Kane is very proud of Mr. Emyr’s recent discovery of true love. He's envious
and deeply moved by the beauty of pure love. So ... he’s gone to the university to pick up girls.”
Charmaine was taken aback.
Well, the rich kids in the Cross family were certainly more down-to-earth than the Nelsons.
“If you know you're disturbing, why are you here?”
A cold, unrestrained voice, brimming with hostility, floated down as the glass elevator descended slowly.
Charmaine looked up and narrowed her eyes slightly.
