“What secret am | supposedly hiding?” Charmaine feigned ignorance. “Are you talking about my connection to
Basil's fellow disciple?”
‘Charmaine, don’t play dumb!”
Freya grew more agitated. After observing Charmaine’s reaction to the fake Basil, she beceven more
convinced that Charmaine knew something about the real Basil.
“Emyr Charmaine knows Basil. The way she acted around him today was strange like she already knew he was
an imposter. But instead of telling us, she just stood by and watched us get fooled by a fraud!”
Thinking back to how she had admired the fake Basil and even hoped he could heal Emyr’s leg. Freya felt
nothing but humiliation.
If word got out, she'd be a laughingstock among the socialites.
Freya's eyes turned red with anger. “Charmaine, did you enjoy watchingand Emyr make fools of ourselves?
Was it fun for you?”
Charmaine curled her lips into a silent, cold smile. “What exactly are you accusingof? If I'd said from the
start that he was a fake, would you have believed me?”

She let out a mocking laugh. “If I had, you'd have kickedout without a second thought, afraid that I'd offend
the esteemed guest you worked so hard to invite.”
-Freya clenched her teeth, left speechless by Charmaine’s retort.
Charmaine, however, paid her no mind and turned her gaze to Emyr.
His expression was dark and unreadable, and Charmaine wasn’t sure if he believed Freya's accusations.
She exhaled lightly. “Honestly, | found him suspicious the moment | saw him. The real Basil is known for his
mystery, but he’s not arrogant or aloof. Why would he hide his face to meet a patient? And he didn’t. even
conduct the most basic diagnostics.”
“Not to mention, he kept refusing to treat you, using tactics more suited to a street vendor haggling over prices.
The real Basil isn’t someone who seeks fand fortune. If he truly wanted to make a charitable medical
donation, he wouldn't have accepted such an outrageous consultation fee.”
“As for knowing Basil's fellow disciple, that was purely coincidental. | don’t personally know the renowned
director everyone speaks of, but | happened to find out that the owner of a beauty salon | visited is one of his
students. That's how | managed to contact him for verification.”
Charmaine laid everything out in one go and sighed. “If you still want to blme after this, then | have nothing
more to say.”
Freya scoffed. “You have said everything and now claiming you have nothing to say! Emyr ...
“Shut up.
Freya shot Charmaine a defiant glare. “Did you hear that? Emyr told you to shut up.”

Emyr’s voice dropped even lower. “Freya, | meant you. Shut up.”
Freya froze, feeling a mix of grievance and hurt. “Emyr, |

“You have no one to blbut yourself for this mess.”
With that. Emyr glanced at Charmaine and said, “Let's go.”
Charmaine got the message and pushed his wheelchair out of Freya's house.
As Emyr left coldly and without a second glance, Freya snapped, smashing the delicate antique teacups on the
table.
The servants trembled in fear as she glared at them viciously. “If any of you dare breathe a word about what
happened today, | won't let you off!”
Charmaine pushed Emyr into the elevator. As the doors closed, they were left alone in the ten-square-foot
space
She stole a glance at Emyr through the mirrored walls. The man nicknamed ‘Satan’ certainly looked terrifying.
“Charmaine.”

Her heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively straightened her back. “What is it?”
Emyr fixed her with a brooding gaze. “What exactly were those three pressure points he used on me?”
Charmaine answered honestly, “The first was to calm your nerves. The second and third were for treating kidney
deficiency.”
Emyr gritted his teeth. “If you knew that, why didn’t you stop him?”
“Because those were minor pressure points, nothing that could cause serious harm. Besides, he does have some
understanding of needle treatments. A few needles here and there wouldn't be a big deal.”
She meant to reassure him, but the chill in the elevator only grew more intense.
“Are you saying | need treatment for kidney deficiency?”
“Erm...”
A shiver ran down Charmaine’s spine. She swallowed nervously. Just then, the elevator doors opened, and she
hurried to step out.
But before she could escape, Emyr suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Caught off guard, Charmaine tripped over her heel and fell backward.
