Keon responded truthfully, his expression as composed as always, his features smooth and flawless.
Emyr observed him for a moment before letting out a soft chuckle. “I should have expected this from you, Mr.
Keon. One meeting, and you've already figured it out.”
Keon hesitated for a brief second, then inquired, “Is Ms. Nelson's medical expertise the reason you've kept her
close?”
Emyr smiled, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mystery. “Yes... and no.
The answer was vague, leaving plenty of room for speculation.
Keon furrowed his brow, clearly intrigued, but couldn't resist asking, “The person who owns the necklace you
wantedto find... Is it ...?"
“You've met her,” Emyr interjected, his voice firm.
The room becquiet for a moment as the weight of the revelation settled in. “It was Veronica, the one | told
you to bring to me,” Emyr added casually.
Keon'’s face shifted with surprise. “How could it be her?”
He had expected someone completely different.
Emyr seemed to find Keon’s reaction amusing.

“I thought you were different from Shawn and Sinnova. You seem completely unbothered by Charmaine, but
you're so curious about my little gossip?”
Keon hesitated, then replied, “It's not that ... When you askedto find this person, you said their identity was
unclear, but their skills and intellect were remarkable. Veronica doesn’t seem to match that description.”
“True,” Emyr agreed, his gaze turning distant, lost in thought.
He recalled the person he had been searching for-someone with a half-masked fox face, quick and clever, the
exact opposite of Veronica, who appeared timid and withdrawn. The two seemed like entirely different
individuals.
Emyr lowered his eyes, his voice softening.
“The necklace is real. Veronica was abroad during that period, and her whereabouts were unclear. Plus, she had
a head injury that caused smemory loss, which might explain things.”
Keon’s brow furrowed, his mind working through the information, but he remained silent.
At that moment, Charmaine knocked before entering. Seeing Keon and Emyr sitting across from each other, with
Emyr’s shirt slightly open, revealing his bare chest, and the atmosphere between them thick with tension,
Charmaine quickly covered her eyes.
“Ah, sorry! | didn’t know you were ... Anyway, I'll just leave,” she stammered, backing toward the door.
Before she could leave, Emyr’s voice rang out, sharp and irritable. “Charmaine, cin here!”

Emyr’s expression darkened. “What was that supposed to mean?”
Charmaine shook her head innocently. “I don’t know what you're talking about, Mr. Emyr.”
Emyr raised an eyebrow. “I think you know exactly what | mean.”
Charmaine fell silent, thinking, Satan is feeling guilty!
Keon cleared his throat, sensing the growing tension. “Since you seem to be recovering, Emyr, I'll take my
leave.”
He turned toward Charmaine, subtly typing on his phone.
“Take care, Mr. Keon. Careful on the way back,” Emyr said as he looked away.
Meanwhile, Charmaine turned slightly stiff as she stole a glance at Emyr’s cold gaze. She quickly adopted a more
subdued demeanor.
After Emyr finished his morning routine and had breakfast, Charmaine retreated to her room.
Her phone lay quietly on the table, two unread messages waiting.
Keon wrote, “Tomorrow night, the Regal Tavern.”
Celeste had texted, “About the task you assigned, it's done!”
A smile tugged at Charmaine’s lips.
The following day, Bennett cursed under his breath but still sent the files to Jonah.

While he was going through sresearch, he stumbled upon an unexpected lead.
It turned out that Roger, the official overseeing South City’s development project, had connections to Sophie's
father. They were from the shometown, and Roger owed the old man a favor.
Bennett, ever the strategist, quickly made contact and arranged a meeting, inviting the Nelsons along.
This time, Bennett spared no expense. He booked an exclusive SVIP room at the Regal Tavern.
At 7:00 PM, Bennett, Sophie, Willard, Jonah, and the key mediator, Leah, stood outside the Regal Tavern, waiting
for Roger's arrival.
The evening was marked by light rain, with soft, steady drops falling from the sky.
The Regal Tavern was tucked away in the old town, hidden in a quiet corner that most people didn’t know about.
It was the kind of place frequented only by regulars, where reservations were a must. Even during busy hours,
the atmosphere was almost eerie in its silence.
Leah, attending a business dinner at such a venue for the first time, couldn't hide her dissatisfaction when she
noticed the emptiness of the place.
She tugged at Sophie's sleeve. her voice dripping with disdain. “Inviting Mr. Riverson to a place like this...
