"What are we going to do...?"

Maia was breaking down, crying into her hands.

Suddenly, the informant rushed into the room.

"We've been in communication with the nearby elven city, they've agreed to let us join forces."

"Huh? The elves?"

"Yes, they're also being attacked by the vampires, even more so than us, they're offering an alliance with us for mutual protection."

"I don't think we have another choice."

At this point, the white-haired vampire was likely still roaming the forest. It would be just a matter of time until this settlement was completely destroyed by vampires.

I didn't really have anything too important in my settlement. The main thing was if I didn't join them, Chloe and I would probably end up getting killed by vampires sooner or later. We didn't have anywhere near enough strength to defeat them.

"We're also trying to get into contact with Mackenzie, Noah and Oliver, we need as much strength as possible."

"Alright."

I sent an order out to all of my Minions to begin making their way toward me. I also sent a few to inform Chloe and get her to join us. My only choice at this time was to abandon my settlement and join the elves and other humans.

As long as I had my Minions, I'd be able to collect resources no matter where I was staying, so my settlement wasn't really that important.

"Are you coming?" I asked Robbie.

"Of course, I don't want to die alone."

"Ah."

I looked outside around and noticed that everyone in the settlement was frantically trying to get their stuff together in preparation for the migration.

I guess when there's a common enemy, even different races will gladly team up.

It was true though, the vampires were a completely overwhelming existence.

Around an hour later, Chloe and the rest of my Minions had also arrived at the settlement.

"William, what's happening?" she asked.

"We're moving to the elven city."

"How come? Is it something to do with the vampires?"

"Yes, they're too strong, if we don't team up, we'll all be wiped out."

"So what are we going to do about this vampire?"

Robbie was referring to Celeste, who was still lying down on the ground.

"We should leave her here!" shouted Maia.

"Huh?"

"The white-haired vampire... he was looking for her!"

I guess that would be the best way to slow him down. There was a chance that he'd stop pursuing us if he got back what he wanted. With that, we decided to leave Celeste here in the settlement.

She didn't exactly reject the idea either.

Once everyone made their final preparations, the entire settlement gathered near our building as the informant led the journey toward the elven village.

I kept all of my Minions nearby for protection, however, there were several hundred if not thousands of people in this settlement. At this point, it'd be almost impossible for a weaker vampire to break through.

Maia, Robbie and I were positioned near the front of the group, along with the informant who was leading it.

"The elven city is a pretty significant distance away, this is going to be a long walk," the informant said.

We marched through the wood, however, we were moving at a very slow pace due to the big group that we were walking in. We were constantly forced to match the pace of some of the slower members of the group, thus bringing down the speed of our movement significantly.

As we trekked along, I thought about my strategies for dealing with this situation.

Obviously, I wanted to improve my fighting ability against the vampires. From the looks of things, the only way would be to progress through the [Shadow Hunter System]. I hadn't collected my resources from all of my Minions yet, I'd do that once we arrived at the elven city so I could more effectively organise everything.

I decided to have another look at the main screen as we were walking. It was something that I was only given a slight glimpse of during the initiation.

It was quite esoteric, most of the categories didn't seem to make much sense. However, I hoped that my Minion System would allow me to quickly level up my Shadow Hunter System. If resource collection was the main way to gain experience, then I had a big advantage over other people.

I'd have a more in-depth look at it once we arrived at the elven village.

As we walked along, more and more were beginning to get tired and drag down the speed of the group even more.

"William, let's go on ahead, this is getting annoying."

"Alright, sounds good to me, but don't we need to follow the informant?"

"I've actually been to the elven village before, so I know where it is."

"Oh, well sure then, I guess I'll follow you."

Robbie walked over to the informant.

"We'll just go on ahead."

"That's fine, but do you know where it is?"

"Yeah, I've been there before."

"Alright," the informant spoke out into the crowd, "those who want to go on ahead can follow Robbie here, I'll stay back and lead the rest."

A large group of the stronger and fitter people began making their way to the front and Robbie and I began walking more quickly through the vegetation. Now that we were moving much fast, we eventually lost view of the bigger group, however, we had quite a few people following us.

"How far is it?" I asked.

"I think it's around a kilometre or two from here."

In total, it seemed to be around 20 or so kilometres from where we began. Maia, Robbie, Chloe and I were walking at the front, looking around for stray zombies and vampires.

In the bigger group, I didn't see any zombies since most of them had been taken care of by the others, however, in the smaller group, my Minions were forced to engage some of the zombies which were hidden in the bushes and plants.

For the most part, the walk was relatively calm and without issues.
