Zhao Lifei stood there as memories of the past flooded her mind, washing over her like a tsunami, and nearly drowning her as it did when she drank herself to sleep.
She thought back to the time she walked into Zheng Tianyi’s office late at night. He was sitting on his big leather chair, similar to the one that Yang Feng was sitting on.
Zheng Tianyi had his hands around Xia Mengxi’s tiny frame, holding her in place as she practically straddled him with her hands resting on his shoulder for support. Their scene was more intimate than the one she was currently looking at, but to her, it was very familiar.
A secretary and a man she favored, she hated to see this again.
From her perspective, the woman, who seemed like his secretary based on her attire, and Yang Feng were leaning towards each other while looking at the paper on his hand.
The distance between their faces was almost negligible, so little to the point of where one wrong turn of the head and they would’ve locked lips. It was not a position one would be in while in the office if they didn’t have an intimate relationship.
’So he was like this to other women as well...I wasn’t the special one.’ She muttered to herself.
She blinked as she became angry and frustrated at how she had let her heart and mind get ahead of herself.
She felt her walls resurface. The bricks that he had been pulling piece by piece apart slowly was quickly coming back together, building up the walls higher than ever.
Zhao Lifei bit her tongue to hold back from lashing out. The words "It’s not like I’m your girlfriend or wife" rang in her head, taunting and mocking her. Yes, it seems she had no right to be angry at him. Based on how quickly he had moved on, she realized he had listened to it very well.
Yang Feng was surprised to see the flash of pain and betrayal on her face which disappeared as fast as it had come. Her face turned blank, like an empty piece of paper.
He had previously been distracted and was then pleasantly surprised that she came by. Seeing her sudden aloofness and her rigid expression, it was when he realized how this scene may have looked like to her. And upon seeing her not make a fuss, his expression darkened.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBack at Zheng Corporation, she used to make a scene in the office whenever Xia Mengxi was involved. Was his standing in her life truly lower than Zheng Tianyi’s?
"I apologize, Mr. Yang. It seems as if I was interrupting something." She spoke up, her voice distant and unsympathetic as if she was speaking to a stranger. She bent down to pick up the fallen manila envelope while his eyes followed her every move.
She clenched her hand on the envelope, a small crinkling sound escaping from it. She gritted her teeth and said, "I will come back some other day-"
"Sit down." His reply seemed like a heavy command she was not allowed to refuse. He watched her pretty little eyes narrowed into slits as she glowered at him.
"I have better things to do. Have a good day, Mr. Yang." She nearly snarled at him. Before she can make a move, the door shut tightly behind her. She turned around and pushed at the metal handles but found it was not budging. He had locked her in, or more importantly, Chen Gaonan had locked her in.
"Open the door-"
"It wasn’t a suggestion." He stood up to his full glory and released his unrelenting aura.
The puzzled Su Meixiu sized Zhao Lifei from head to toe.
What was this strange and unfamiliar woman doing here? Su Meixiu felt the edges of her lips tug down at the casual attire the woman was wearing. Moreover, she couldn’t believe someone dared to speak to Yang Feng with such a haughty and arrogant tone.
How disrespectful.
Nobody should be talking like that to the powerful CEO Yang. She was sure this visit was not scheduled, so why was this woman even personally escorted by Chen Gaonan to the boss’s office?
Zhao Lifei glared at him, her eyes flashing with an intent to kill. Her blood boiled upon seeing the secretary had not moved an inch. "I don’t care if it’s a suggestion or a command. Open the door." Her voice was deathly calm, hiding the storm within her.
Yang Feng didn’t remove his gaze from her.
As a matter of fact, even Su Meixiu noticed he hadn’t looked away ever since that woman set foot in the room.
"Meixiu, you’re excused. Close and lock the door behind you." Yang Feng didn’t look at her as he spoke. Instead, his eyes blazing with fierce intensity focused on no one else but Zhao Lifei.
"Yes, sir." She obediently said, scrambling to the entrance of the room. She texted Chen Gaonan to let her out.
When the door opened, Zhao Lifei also tried to leave but her path was blocked by Chen Gaonan.
"Miss, please stay in there." He told her, lightly pushing her back into the room. Before she could retaliate, he closed the door again, leaving her in the den with the Dragon.
"Chen Gaonan, I’ll kill you!" She cursed under her breath, harshly glaring at the door as if her eyes could shoot out lasers and kill him from the other side.
"Turn around." Yang Feng ordered, his dominating and cold voice surprising her.
Who the hell did he think he was to command her as he pleased? She angrily turned around to give him a piece of her mind but jumped when she saw how close he was to her now. He was just a couple of steps away from her. When did he move?
The look that he was giving her was beginning to cause butterflies to dance in her stomach. It fluttered at how scary he looked. The aura coming from him was like a foggy shadow reaching over to grab her throat. His face was fiercer than usual and his eyes had darkened with malice. She had never seen him like this.
"You think you’re the only one that can glare? I can do it too!" She said, like the petty woman she was.
She was beginning to grow annoyed at how he was looking at her like a dangerous beast ready to shred her into pieces. The devil on her shoulder whispered, ’Or shred your clothes into pieces...’ At the naughty thought, a small blush started creeping up her back.
It was quickly pushed down by the frustration that washed over her. While she was worrying and overthinking everything about him, from his reaction, to what he thought of her, he was here playing hooky with a secretary!
’Why did it have to be the secretary?! It was always the secretary!’
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe back of her eyes stung when she remembered pretty little Xia Mengxi hovering over Zheng Tianyi who was clearly captivated by her allure as if she was the female lead.
"Curb your anger, my dear." He slowly walked closer and her body stiffened in anticipation on what he would do to her.
His eyes were a lake of ink that seemed to reach out and pull her in, tugging at her heart, and attempting to drown her. She was sucked into them once again.
Her blood froze and her toes curled from how he looked. He looked like the men her nannies warned her about. The dangerous and mysterious kind whose face was heavenly, but whose soul is darker than the devil.
Even so, she wasn’t scared of him. Her eyes mirrored his, except to him, she looked like a little kitty who thought she was a lioness.
She blurted out, "And if I don’t?"
Her shoulders tensed when he was just a breath away from her. He was standing so close that she could feel her brain go hazy at his intoxicating scent. She rapidly blinked as she unknowingly stepped back and she found herself trapped between him and the door.
He bent down, his hands tucked into his front pockets. He was incredibly close but this time, he didn’t seem to have any plans of touching her. She stared up at him, her mind alternated between danger and desire at his alluringly seductive stance.
He brought his lips to her ears and whispered. "My dear, do you really want to find out?"
She shivered at how dangerous, yet enticing his voice was. She didn’t think he would ever intimidate her. As a matter of fact, she would never in a million years think he had this side to him. Sure, she had heard of the sinister rumors dancing around him, but he had never shown it to her until today. She didn’t think he would use any of his cruel tricks on her. Perhaps she had truly been too spoiled by him...

Author’s Note (Was placed in the story because it couldn’t fit the author’s note section lol):
As some of you guys may know, I’ve been contracted by , thus, this story will go premium on April 23. The prices are already set by WN, so I will not have control over it.
Their rates are 200 words = 1SS. My chapters are quite lengthy, so the story will cost 6-8 SS. It’s higher than most s, but it prevents abrupt ending of chapters and will be more satisfying!
This story was contracted in order to fund my college tuition and allow for double updates (as I would be quitting my parttime job).
I hope you guys can continue to support this ♥ Thank you!
