Chapter 207 Go Back To Save Nancy (1)
Nicholas was on the verge of speaking, but at that moment, Madelline’s eyes fluttered open. She looked at him, her
eyes filled with despair and heartbreak. In a weak voice, she uttered, “Nicholas…”
Normally, he would have hurried to her side, but this time, he remained rooted in place. The darkness of the night
surrounded them, creating an eerie stillness. He stood motionless, like a statue, as if time and space had frozen
around him. She cried, shaking her head in disbelief that he hadn’t accompanied her in the ambulance on the way
to the hospital.
He had intended to go with her, but then he received a phone call. She wondered what kind of call could have
made him change his mind. “Nicholas…” she whispered feebly, though it took all her strength to do so. Yet, it
seemed to fall on deaf ears as he continued to stand there, unmoving.
As the ambulance’s doors slowly closed, Madelline summoned her remaining strength to reach out to Nicholas, her
hand clawing at the air, her eyes filled with sorrow. “Nicholas…” Her cries of anguish echoed into the night.
“Take care, Madelline. I believe you’ll survive,” he said as he waved his hand.
The ambulance’s door closed, and it quickly sped off to the hospital. Nicholas turned around and addressed his
assistant, who had just arrived. “Take care of her later.” He called Lynn. “Get me my private jet. I’m going home
right now.”
“Sir, we found a small malfunction during the last checkup. It’s still not fixed. It might be dangerous if you fly it right

“Lynn, I’ll repeat myself. I want it right now.” Nicholas became furious.
“Of course, sir. I’ll make the necessary arrangements.”
“I want to board the flight in half an hour. And call the bank. I’m withdrawing 7.5 million in cash. Tell them to
prepare it. Do it right now as well,” Nicholas emphasized the last part of the sentence.
This time, Lynn, understanding the seriousness, acted promptly without questioning. He worked quickly, ensuring
everything was in order.
In just half an hour, Nicholas was already on the flight home, the clock ticking-it was ten at night with only 11 hours
remaining before nine in the morning. It was a race against time, even against death itself. Yet, with unwavering
determination, Nicholas firmly believed he could make it back in time to save Nancy.
Haunted by past failures, he couldn’t shake off the guilt. He remembered the previous time she was in danger, how
he had failed to rescue her. He had even doubted her sincerity, believing she was seeking sympathy. That stormy
night when she had a car accident and fell into despair, he wasn’t there for her. He blamed himself for not
protecting her and their baby. Acknowledging his past mistakes, he was determined this time. No matter the
challenges, he vowed not to back down. “Hang on, Nancy. I’m coming home. I promised I’d never leave you alone
again. This time, I’m coming to you. I’ll protect you. Wait for me.”
The jet soared into the clouds. Nicholas looked at the darkness outside, a frown appearing on his face. He didn’t
sleep for the entire night.
When Nancy woke up, she realized something was covering her head. Her legs and hands were tied up. The car
was moving unsteadily, and men were laughing and taunting around her. She knew she was in a dangerous
situation.
A man in the front row said, “Mr. Wolfe, do you think her husband will come to rescue her?”
“I think so. She’s the wife of a wealthy man. It doesn’t matter if they have no love between them. If anything
happens to her, they would be devastated.”
The men were speaking loudly. From their conversation, Nancy understood what was happening. These men had
kidnapped her to threaten Nicholas, and they demanded 7.5 million as ransom. Suddenly, a wave of despair
washed over her; Nicholas was currently overseas. How could he possibly return in time? She pondered on the
unpredictability of life-how quickly things had changed, her abduction coinciding with Nicholas’ absence.
After a bumpy ride, the car came to a stop, and she was taken to a certain location. The blindfold was removed
from her head. When the kidnappers realized that she was already awake, Puck raised an eyebrow. “Not a bad-
looking woman. No wonder she managed to marry Mr. Sallow.”-
“Who are you? I don’t think we have any grudge between us. Why did you kidnap me?”
Puck wiped the knife in his hand and sneered. “No grudge? You’re right. There is no grudge between us, but your
gambler of a father owed me money. He promised to sell you to me and let me do whatever I wanted with you.
Nancy couldn’t believe her ears. She knew Hugo was a useless, deadbeat father, but she couldn’t imagine he would
go this far. Even if they weren’t related by blood, even if she wasn’t his biological daughter, they had at least lived

can’t make it in time? They’ll kill me. They’ll kill me, and no one will find
out.
She lifted her head and blinked as hard as she could. I won’t cry. I won’t. I will not shed tears because of that
b*stard. But her heart ached. Before the truth was revealed, she genuinely thought of Hugo as her father, but all
she received in return was exploitation and cruelty. That’s not what a father does. Not even the cruelest man is as
terrible as him. She blinked her eyes and looked at Puck. “Don’t talk about him. I’m not his daughter. He has no
right to call himself my father.”
“Doesn’t matter. I don’t care about the relationship you share with him. I only care about money.” Puck shrugged.
She sneered. He sensed that something was hidden behind that sneer. He narrowed his eyes and sharply asked,
“What’s so amusing?”
“Let me guess. He must have told you that you could get the money if you kidnapped me, but have you ever
wondered why he told you to get the money if he could have gotten it himself?”
Puck knew something was amiss. Quickly, he inquired, “What does that mean? Explain.”
Nancy looked at him. Slowly, she enunciated, “It means Nicholas and I are divorced. You won’t single cent even if
you’ve kidnapped me.”
