Chapter 1147
Felicity was embarrassed about Richie tearing up Vermont's clothes. "I think he likes you. I've never seen him so
excited to see anyone before," she said, trying to repair the damage.
Just as she said that, they heard Richie tearing another piece of clothing, and Vermont was utterly speechless.
Felicity's grandmother was a kind little old lady. After she saw how miserable Vermont looked, she immediately
said," Felicity, go and grab a set of your father's old clothes for your friend to change into. You can bring him to buy
new clothes in the morning."
"Alright," Felicity said and immediately ran upstairs to get the clothes.
Vermont was dirty and covered in thorns. He was too embarrassed to sit down on the couch, so he stood obediently

The old lady smiled and said, "When Felicity said she was bringing a friend home for the holidays, I didn't expect it
to be a young man."
Vermont paused when he heard that. "She told you I was her friend?"
The old lady was taken aback by the question. "Aren't you?"
"No, yeah. I am," said Vermont with a smile.
The old lady was skeptical after he said that. 'What's with his tone? Could it be that he's her boyfriend?' The
woman's gaze changed immediately. She eyed Vermont from top to bottom and thought, 'This tall young man is
rather polite. His looks are... too dirty to tell right now. But he doesn't seem very smart since he was chased around
by Richie.'
"What's your name, young man?"
"My name is Vermont Snyder. You can call me Vermont."
While Felicity was getting the clothes, Vermont was downstairs talking with her grandmother. It was like they were
best friends. When the old lady saw Felicity coming, she asked her to take Vermont to the bathroom and went out
to call Florence.
The town was a tight-knit community; everyone in the neighborhood knew each other well. Florence was addicted
to poker and dancing. When she was not busy at work, she would go to one of her friend's houses to dance and
play. She would usually come home around 2:00 a.m.
Felicity's grandmother would normally let her be, but things were different today. 'I have to call her to come home
and meet Felicity's boyfriend,' she thought.
Felicity's childhood home did not only look good on the outside but, it also looked magnificent on the inside. The tiles
and beams outside looked like modern art, while the decoration in the house had a mix of antique and rustic styles.

Vermont no longer believed Felicity when she said she came from a low-income family. ‘They're rather well off,' he
thought. Still, he was happy that he had the chance to meet her family.
"Is no one else home other than your grandma?" Vermont asked as he followed her around.
"Yeah. My aunt and uncle don't live in this area. It's just my mom and my grandma."
"What about your dad?”
Felicity turned on the lights and said, "My parents got divorced when I was eight. So, my mom raised me on her
own."
Vermont did not know what to say. When Felicity's grandmother told her to grab her father's old clothes, Vermont
did not realize that it was because they were divorced. He simply thought that he was working outstation.
"I'm sorry," he said in a low voice.
"What's there to be sorry about? It's not like he's dead."
Once again, Vermont did not know how to respond to that.
