Chapter 960 Selena's hands clenched tight as a vice. It looked like her hunch was spot on-the villain was Yasmine. If Yasmine had managed to survive in the past, it had to be because Joy was pulling the strings behind the scenes. The whole aim was to use Yasmine's seething hatred to get rid of Selena someday.

Selena couldn't help but find Joy both detestable and pathetic. It made her wonder if Joy genuinely loved Everett, or if it was more of an obsession with something she couldn't have, driving her to go all out to get rid of the thorn in her side.

Joy was the only one who could pinpoint her vulnerabilities so precisely, knowing exactly how to hit where it would hurt the most. Selena was aware of the threat but had no choice but to face it head-on.

Pushing down her swirling emotions, Selena got up, changed clothes, and headed out. A few minutes later, she stepped out of the Silver Lake Club, and as she'd expected, a car was waiting at the entrance. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door and got in.

The driver's seat was shrouded in shadow, making it impossible for Selena to see the driver's face. He drove in silence, not uttering a single word.

Selena pulled out her phone, but he didn't stop her. As expected, the car must have had a signal jammer because there was no reception at all. Yasmine had cprepared, leaving no stone unturned.

The car quickly hit the highway, making its way to the outskirts of town. Selena stayed calm, quietly memorizing the route.

Once they got off the highway, though, the car started weaving through winding mountain roads. The scenery was so repetitive that she soon lost her sense of direction.

After about three nerve-wracking hours, the car finally cto a stop. The driver spoke in a chilly tone, "Get out and walk straight for a hundred yards." Selena wanted to ask more, but the driver had clammed up, saying nothing more. With no other option, she tucked her phone away, swung the car door open, and made her way toward the abandoned warehouse ahead. Pushing the rusty iron gate open, Selena's heart sank when she saw Mateo hanging limply above. The kid had fainted, his face ghostly pale, lips dry and cracked. As a mother, the sight was unbearable. She wanted to rush over and get him down, but two hulking figures blocked her path.

Up on the second-floor balcony, a woman with a face eerily identical to Selena's stepped out, looking down at her with disdain.

"Selena, you finally made it," she sneered.

Her smile was dripping with resentment and malice, with a dash of satisfaction at having pulled off her scheme. Selena wasn't in the mood for chit-chat. She clenched her fists, "I'm here. Let my child go!" Yasmine let out a mocking laugh, "Relax, I wouldn't dream of harming your son. After all, in the future... he'll be mine!" Selena instantly grasped her plan. Yasmine had gone under the knife to becher carbon copy, luring her here to take her place.

Yasmine gave a nod to the two men below, "Tie her up for me." The two men advanced on Selena with ropes. She took a deep breath, not resisting as they bound her hands. "Now, can you release my child?" she demanded.

Yasmine, seemingly pleased with her compliance, snapped her fingers. A man stepped forward from behind her, lowering Mateo and cradling him in his arms.

Yasmine sauntered down the stairs, each step deliberate, until she was standing right in front of Selena. She grabbed Selena's chin, scrutinized her face, then roughly let go. "It's been a while, and I still utterly despise your face."

Selena let out a dry laugh, "You despise my face, yet you chose to becmy mirror image. Yasmine, I almost feel sorry for you." From the beginning, she had been ét

nothing more than a pawn in Joy's game. Joy had preyed on hero m insecurities greed, and malice to clear her own path.
