Chapter 199

Both of them carried the man to the back door. They were about to walk out of sight.

Jocelyn’s eyes instantly widened. She got a closer look at the person’s face. The man being carried

away was Abel, and his eyes were shut.

Jocelyn’s expression changed greatly. She turned around frantically and pushed open the door to the

room by the side.

The man that was joking with Abel when Jocelyn arrived at the bar was inside the room. He was Abel’s

friend.

Jocelyn could not care much anymore. She shouted out quickly, “Abel is in danger!” After Jocelyn

shouted out, she rushed toward the back door. Abel’s friend ran out after her. The people in the room ran

out as well. Jocelyn ran out of the bar and came to the alley outside the back door of the bar. The men

were carrying Abel toward an SUV parked a short distance away.

Jocelyn grabbed hold of a mop beside the door and rushed over at the fastest speed possible. She threw

the mop toward one of the men. It hit him straight in the face.

The man’s face hurt as she thrust the mop toward his face. The mop stank as well. He reached out to

cover his face with his hands.

Abel’s legs fell to the ground. The other man realized what was going on. He took out a knife and thrust it

toward Jocelyn.

Jocelyn took a step back rapidly. She raised the mop and thrust it out toward the man instinctively. Just

then, all of Abel’s friends ran out.

Once the men realized that they were caught, they retreated immediately. They dumped Abel and

sprinted toward the SUV at once.

Abel’s friend ran over. The two men had already rushed into the SUV and sped away.

Abel lay down on the ground. His eyes were shut. He tried his best to open them.

He felt extremely dazed. Actually, he had not completely passed out. He did not know what those two

thugs had injected him with. He felt extremely dizzy. His thoughts were stilted as well.

However, he still saw Jocelyn standing up to rescue him. She had raised a mop in her hands and helped

to delay things till his friends came out and scared away the two men. Abel felt extremely weak and

lethargic. He shouted weakly, “Jocelyn… White!”

Jocelyn threw the mop away and looked down at him.

Abel’s friends helped him up at once. They then brought him into the bar immediately. Abel had

encountered something like this on the day of the bar’s launch.

The bar manager looked after the guests. Abel had been injected with an unknown substance. He was

sent to the hospital at once.

Lexie was drunk as well. She was lying down on the bar.

Jocelyn could only ask Abel’s friend to let her know when Abel was in a stable condition.

When Jocelyn sent Lexie home, she received a call from Abel’s friend. His friend told her that Abel was

fine, and he had just woken up. Abel would personally tell her about the specifics of his condition

tomorrow.

Abel’s friend even teased her for being a beauty that rescued the hero tonight.

Jocelyn made sure that Lexie was in bed. She then took a taxi back to Villa No. 1.

Jocelyn did not know that everyone within the circle had found out about her rescuing Abel heroically.

This news spread out extremely quickly.

She wanted to keep a low profile, but Abel’s friends kept spreading the news about what she had done.

Everyone said that they should make friends like Jocelyn. She was both pretty and tough. She had great

looks, but the key thing was she could stand up for her friends and help them out righteously in times of

need.

It was already 11 o’clock at night when Jocelyn reached Villa No.1.

She was already exhausted. She opened the door. The living room was pitch black. There was smoke in

the house. It was as if there were a fire.

She could not help but cough out loud. She took a step forward and tried to open the lights.

Suddenly, she caught sight of sparks of fire nearby the sofa.

Jocelyn turned on the switch at once. The lights in the living room all lit up.

At first sight, Jocelyn noticed Skyler leaning against the sofa.

He was still wearing a shirt. His collar had been loosened casually. There was a lit cigarette in his hands.

His eyes were half-lidded as he stared at the door. He exuded a suffocating and pressurizing aura.

Jocelyn finally noticed the countless cigarette stubs on the coffee table. It was no wonder the living room

was so smoky.

Jocelyn pursed her lips and said drily, “Mr. Moore, didn’t you quit smoking?” Skyler stared at her coldly.

There was a dark expression on his face. He remained silent. Jocelyn frowned. She wondered who had

offended him.

She said, “Go upstairs and sleep early after you’ve finished smoking. I’ll head up first!”.

After speaking, Jocelyn changed into slippers and walked to the stairs.

However, Skyler’s deep voice rang out. “Can’t I smoke again after quitting smoking?”

Jocelyn was stunned. She then slowly came to her senses. He was replying to her first question.

She nodded and pursed her lips. “You’d better smoke less. Smoking isn’t good for your health!” Skyler

suddenly laughed out quietly. Although he was laughing, his voice was extremely icy. He did not sound

happy at all. “Are you showing concern to me right now?” Jocelyn did not know why Skyler seemed

rather odd tonight. She stood in the living room and frowned. “Mr. Moore, I’m just stating facts!”

Her words seemed to have triggered Skyler’s emotions.

He suddenly stood up and fixed a dark gaze on Jocelyn. “You’re just stating facts? Are you stating facts

by standing me up and telling me that you’ll be drinking with your friend when you actually went to

support the launch of Abel Crain’s bar?” Jocelyn finally understood why Skyler was acting this way. He

thought that she had lied to him.

She immediately explained herself. “I didn’t lie to you. Everything that I said was real. I simply went to

Abel’s new bar to drink with my friend…”

Skyler did not want to listen to her explanation at all. He interrupted her in a cold and heavy voice.

“Jocelyn White, you’re really something else! You stood me up for another man. Hah… you’re a beauty

that rescued a hero. How righteous! How loyal! Are you not afraid of death…” Jocelyn could not bear it

anymore. Skyler’s tone and expression made it seem like he wanted to devour her alive. She gritted her

teeth and shouted, “Mr. Moore, please calm down! I don’t have intentions to stand up for another man

and put you in an awkward position! However, back then, I couldn’t just be a bystander!” Besides, Abel

had saved her life once. Was it not only natural for her to take the initiative to help him out?

Skyler suddenly sneered. There was a look of extreme rage on his face. It looked like he wanted to

devour Jocelyn alive. “Jocelyn White, do you really think that I’m angry at you just because of my own

reputation?”
