First Love 104

Chapter 104

Meanwhile, division one was in an unusually good mood. Everyone let out their excitement the moment the door

closed. They hugged one another and celebrated in all sorts of ways.

Before they had gone into the conference room, Angela had reminded them to stay calm no matter the result.

She had told them not to reveal their emotions and risk looking foolish.

In the past, they had always been laughed at, but today they had finally turned the tables and were able to hold

their heads high.

They were making a ruckus in the large office outside, but Angela didn't bother to stop them.

She felt great all day. After finishing her work and clocking out, she planned to head out for a stroll. She would

be leaving for Bellador the day after tomorrow and wouldn't be back for at least a week.

Right after she carried a bunch of things home, Angela received a call from an unknown

number.

It was Nick Campbell, one of Dexter's childhood friends.

“Angela, Dexter's had too much to drink. Can you cpick him up?" Nick sounded polite enough, though there

was something odd about his tone.

"I'll send a driver," Angela said, then hung up.

Soon after, another one of Dexter's friends called with the srequest. Within half an hour, she got six calls

like that.

Angela was at a loss for words. She drove off to pick Dexter up.

Inside the private club, Dexter sat alone in a corner. He was drinking in silence, his tie pulled loose and hanging

crookedly over his shoulder. He looked defeated.

Nick and Ethan stood by, both seeming helpless. They had also drunk too much that night and made a bet. Each

of them had called Angela and Elena to see who would cfirst.

Elena had arrived within ten minutes, but Angela hadn't even wanted to come. In the end, Nick had claimed

Dexter would pass out soon, and Angela had finally agreed to come.

Elena stayed by Dexter, wanting to take care of him. She tried to move closer, but Dexter kept his distance,

leaving her feeling frustrated

"What's going on here?” Ethan rubbed his chin in surprise. “In the past, if something happened to Dexter, Angela

would rush over even if it meant running herself ragged. Now she's acting so different."

"Did they have a fight?" Nick guessed.

Ethan shook his head. "Have you ever seen them fight? It's always been Dexter-"

"Stop talking. She's here!" Nick hissed.

Angela walked in wearing casual sportswear, creating a stark contrast with the extravagantly dressed crowd of

women in the room.

“Let's go,” she said, walking up to Dexter. "My car's parked on the street. If we wait too long, I'll get a ticket.”

That single sentence left everyone speechless.

“Angela, Dexter drank a bit too much just now. Maybe he needs a moment to pull himself together. Why don't

you wait a bit?” Elena said with a gracious smile, looking every bit like his wife.

Angela placed one hand on her hip, glanced at her watch, and said bluntly, “No can do. Tis short. A parking

ticket might not cost much, but what if someone reportsfor illegal parking?"

“Angela, | can have someone move your car. You've call this way. Why not stay for a bite?" Ethan offered

with a grin. He reached for Angela's car keys.

"Sorry,” she replied. "I've got something to do at home."

She had bought a bunch of stuff and left them all scattered over her couch. She needed to organize it.

The atmosphere grew tense.

"Get lost,” Dexter said coldly from the corner. | don't need you."

He let out a snort and tried to stand, but he swayed. Elena reached out to support him, and he didn't push her

away.

Angela felt exasperated. "Fine. Next tsomething like this happens, don't call me. Stop wasting my time."

With that, she turned and left.
