Chapter 34:.

Yesterday, when Stella was at Richard's family’s house, RK had stepped on her foot just because she wanted to

take Tristan’s wine glass away from him.

At the time, she thought it might have been a mistake. But now, he had done it again.

Stella and RK were sitting together on the couch when he stepped on her white shoes. Stella screamed in pain.

She glared angrily at the man and cursed inwardly, “Rene Kingston.... You are a demon. You are now the greatest

villain.”

When she glared at him, RK looked at her and asked politely, “Miss Richard, what did you say? | didn’t hear you,

could you repeat it, please?”

Stella couldn’t say anything; she just lowered her head but continued to scold him in her heart. “Shameless.”

Grace watched them, thinking they were just having a playful discussion, completely ignoring Stella's

complaints.

Regardless, Grace had complete trust in RK, believing that she would never cross any boundaries with Stella. At

the time, Grace had more faith in RK’s character than in her own granddaughter’s.

Grace looked at Stella and said, “Now that Rene has cleared everything up, you have no reason not to go out

with him, do you?”

She made it sound like Stella's doubts were only due to rumors, and now that RK had cleared them up, she had

no excuse.

“Stella, in the future, don’t believe the rumors that he has a girlfriend. There is always gossip about celebrities

on the Internet. It’s nothing but nonsense spread by people. Don't fall for it again.”

Stella wanted to cry, but she had no tears. She knew her grandmother wouldn't believe her, but she still said,

“He does have a bride....

They're getting married next month.” Even though she knew her grandmother wouldn't believe her, she had to

say it. What else could she do? She couldn't go along with RK’s lies.

RK looked at Stella and, maintaining his polite facade to his grandmother, repeated, “Miss Richard, you must be

mistaken. | don’t have a girlfriend. Y... | wouldn't mind having you as a girlfriend.”

“Bastard...” He's a bastard. He was shameless. He clearly had a girlfriend, but he refused to admit it. And what

did he mean by that? Stella knew him too well, he was as shameless and horrible as one could be. But someone

like her grandmother, who didn’t know the truth?

hasn't had a girlfriend in six years. He's such a good boy.... Don’t you think so, Stella?”

“A good boy?” Stella thought, “Good boy, my foot! He's just a shameless bastard.”

Stella really wanted to say, “Grandma, you're reading too much into this.” But she knew her grandmother

wouldn't believe her, so she just rolled her eyes at RK, keeping silent. She was a person who valued the truth.

Now, if she couldn't tell it, she wouldn't lie either.

Grace smiled awkwardly, clearly blaming her granddaughter for not cooperating. After that, her grandmother

tried to engage the three of them in conversation, but when it cto anything about couples, only RK

responded, keeping the conversation going.

Stella just sat there, pretending it had nothing to do with her. They chatted most of the afternoon. Stella waited

for RK to leave, but he did not.

Stella looked at him, wondering, “Why doesn’t he just leave? Doesn't he have so much work to do at the

company? Why is he still here?” Since Stella rarely had tto spend with her grandmother, she wanted to stay

until dinner.

But when he saw that they were still chatting, he got up and said, “Grandma, it's almost tfor dinner. I'm

going to buy something. Tellwhat you'd like to eat and I'll bring it to you.”

“I'll leave.” Just as he finished speaking, that man also stood up. He was almost six feet tall, towering over Stella.

His presence was almost oppressive.

After getting up, that shameless man asked the squestion, with the sfilial tone as Stella:

“Grandmother, tellwhat you want to eat and | will go and buy it for you. Miss Richard, you tellwhat you

want, too”.

“Look! Look at him! How nice he is,” Stella thought sarcastically. “Not only does he care about my grandmother,

but he pretends to care about me, too.”

For a second, even she was about to be fooled by his performance. What would Grace think now?

Of course, she would think how good this man was. She knew Stella didn’t like him, so she looked at her and

said, “Stella, why don’t you go with Rene? You know what I like to eat. You can choose for me.”

Stella said nothing. For the past six years, it had been this man who had accompanied her and stayed by her

side. By now, perhaps it was no longer she who knew what she liked, but this man.

Stella stubbornly replied, “Grandma, | want to spend more twith you alone. Let Mr. Kingston go out and buy

the groceries.” She had no desire to go with him.

She had just insulted him and was trying to create distance between them. Who knew that once they were

alone, he might retaliate? She didn’t want to be alone with him.

But this time, it didn’t matter what Stella wanted.

Grace was determined that they would go out together. She pushed Stella toward RK and said, “I don’t need you

to stay with me. I'm fine on my own. You should go for a walk and spend sttogether. You should get to

know each other better.”

Before Stella could protest, Grace gave her no chance to refuse. She practically pushed them out of the room.

Not only that, she even locked the door behind them so Stella couldn't get back in.

Stella stood in front of the door, wanting to cry but not crying. Stella thought, “Why does this keep happening to

me?

Have | done something to deserve this? Forget what happened six years ago. But now, even after returning

home, why do | have to meet this man over and over again? It's one thing to see him at the company-after all,

he is my boss-but why do | have to see him even when | visit my grandmother in the hospital? I'm unbelievably

unlucky.

In desperation, Stella followed RK to buy food. But when they got to the elevator, unfortunately, they discovered

that it was out of order. They had to take the stairs.

Throughout the afternoon, his grandmother and RK had chatted happily until it was seven o'clock. Now it was

night and it was dark outside.

The elevator was out of order because they were fixing the lights, so when they walked down the hallway, it was

completely dark.

Because it was dark, | could hear footsteps in the hallway. | had the feeling that everyone in the hospital was

entering the hallway. He could hear noises and was only walking by his intuition.

she shouted. Stella vowed to herself that the next tshe left the house she would look at the horoscope.

Because she felt she was having very bad luck these days.

“If you need my help, just ask.” The deep, deep voice cfrom behind her.

Since there were no lights, her hearing improved even more. From the voice, she knew it was coming from

behind her. The man was walking behind her. Stella refused without hesitation, “No need. | can go alone.”

“Accept their help”? No way. She wasn’t ready to die yet. She was sure that if she accepted his help, he would

throw her down the stairs.”

RK did not insist. He simply sidestepped her and stepped forward. He had no intention of helping her; he had

only offered out of courtesy. It was clear he didn’t care if she fell or not, he was just being formal.

Stella rolled her eyes, thinking, “How can Grandma think this man is good? Why can’t she see what he really is?

She was sure her grandmother was just getting older and more easily fooled.”

On her way up the stairs, Stella staggered and skipped a few steps. She stopped before she fell and decided to

take out her phone to use the flashlight. But someone behind her suddenly pushed her....

There were no lights, and the person behind her also took a wrong step, which caused them to fall on Stella. She

lost her balance and fell forward.

Stella didn’t know if it was RK or someone else in front of her, but she grabbed her neck as she fell. As soon as

RK turned around, he was knocked down by the force of Stella falling on top of him.

The stairs they were walking on had no handrail. So they had nothing to lean on, and when they fell, they rolled

straight down the stairs. But the pain Stella expected did not cat all. In just a second or two, they landed on

the flat surface.

Stella found herself pressed against RK’s body. Her head was nestled in his arms, resting against his chest. Just

like that, she could hear his strong heartbeat and smell the familiar fragrance of his body.

“Sorry.” Even though he couldn't see, he could still tell who the person was because of the familiar smell. It had

been... six years. It had been six years. But

still remembered that scent of rose and mint.

Sometimes it was always like that. No matter how hard you try to forget something, you can’t. Instead, it

becomes unforgettable.

For a moment, because she was surrounded by the familiar scent and warmth, Stella even forgot the

embarrassment of her fall.

Only when the lights con over his head did all the people in the hallway start shouting. “The lights have

cback on! Someone could have left her in the dark...”. All the nurses rushed to help.

It was only then that Stella fully realized that she was still leaning against RK. Not only that, she had used her

body as a shield, and so she hadn't felt any pain. What's more, her head was still pressed against his chest.

His posture... he was lying underneath her, and she was lying on top of him.

The intimate position was not only awkward, but also easily misinterpreted by anyone looking their way. It was

fine when it was still dark, but now that the lights were on, this scene was seen by many people. Plus, among so

many people, they attracted a lot of attention.

RK’s hand rested on his jeans. Intentional or unintentional, he didn’t know. His large palm was parted by his

clothing, gently caressing it. Stella said nothing. In a minute, her face was as red as an apple. His hand was still

on her - how humiliating!
