Chapter 270:

Stella knew that when facing RK, she shouldn't take his words seriously. But when it cto the issue of

Adrian’s custody, she couldn't stop herself from pushing back.

“Stella, | am Adrian’s father. Don’t I have the right to raise him and protect him?” RK insisted.

“Is this what you call protection? | know you want to fight for custody, but can’t you wait a little longer? Can't

you continue the fight after Adrian has accepted it all? Do you think this is truly for his sake? If you keep pushing,

he won't just hate me; he’ll hate you too.”

“That's impossible! Adrian won't hate me. | am his father.”

Hearing RK say the word ‘father,’ Stella couldn't help but sneer. “You think if I tell Adrian how his father divorced

his pregnant mother for another woman, and even pressured her to get rid of him, he won't hate you?

Do you think he wouldn't be furious and cut all ties with you? You wouldn't even be a stranger to him.”

RK remained calm. “That won't happen because you care about Adrian. You wouldn't want to make him sad. If

you tell him the truth, not only will you be heartbroken, but so will he. You won't be willing to see that.”

Stella clenched her fists. RK was right—she couldn’t bear to tell Adrian about the past. She couldn't bear to let

him know that his father had once insisted on not keeping him. She knew Adrian was just a child, and this

knowledge would devastate him.

“RK, don’t think I'm still the sStella you used to bully and hurt. Ever since | cback to X City, I've never

once considered letting you hurtagain. You won't be able to harmnow.” Stella's voice was firm.

She would never forgive them for the pain they had caused her. The suffering and tears she endured in France

were etched in her memory forever.

Stella had never wanted Adrian to identify with the Kingston family. Even though Adrian shared RK’s blood, she

had always intended for him to remain with her. And even if RK tried to fight her in court, she wouldn't back

down.

So what if they fought head-on? She had raised Adrian for years, built a bond with him, and had a stable life. RK

already had Alia. She believed that no matter what, the court would rule in her favor, and Adrian would stay with

her forever.

“I didn’t ask you here to argue. | just wanted to have a meal with you,” RK said, cutting her off, his tone slightly

exasperated. He knew that fighting with Stella over every little thing was pointless.

“Why did you invitefor a meal?” Stella asked, confused by his sudden change in tone.

“Nothing special. | just realized that ever since you returned to X City, | haven't treated you to a proper meal. |

thought it was tto make up for that.”

“Thank you, then,” Stella replied, though her voice carried little emotion.

“No need to thank me. Taking care of Adrian is the greatest gratitude you can show me,” RK said.

“Wait, have you changed your mind about fighting for custody?” Stella asked, a hint of excitement in her voice.

“Not at all. Until | win the right to custody, you take good care of Adrian. | owe him a lot. | haven't been a good

father,” RK said, sounding almost regretful.

“Adrian has never blamed you. That means he doesn’t hate you. If you make it up to him, he’ll forgive you,”

Stella said softly.

“Aren’t you afraid I'll fight you for custody?” RK shot her a sly smile.

“Fear is one thing, but you two reconciling is another. After all, you're Adrian’s father. That's an undeniable fact.”

“When did you becso reasonable?” RK teased.

“I've always been reasonable, haven't I?”

After work, RK drove Stella straight to the hospital where Alia was already playing with Adrian.

“Look at me, I'm a highly skilled gunman!” Alia exclaimed.

“Wow! Watchtransform!” Adrian responded, his imagination running wild.

The two children were having a blast in the ward. Fortunately, Adrian couldn't get out of bed yet, or the hospital

might have been turned upside down.

“Darling, Bad Uncle, you're here!” Adrian greeted them.

“Aunt Stella, Daddy, hello,” Alia said politely.

“You're not allowed to call my dad ‘Bad Uncle,'” Alia corrected Adrian.

“Bad Uncle, Bad Uncle, Bad Uncle!” Adrian repeated playfully.

With each “Bad Uncle,” Stella started to find the nicknoddly endearing.

RK, however, just chuckled and let it slide.

Stella set out the dinner she had brought, and the four of them sat down together to eat.

“Darling, doesn’t this look like we're a family of four?” Adrian said suddenly, stopping in the middle of his meal.

His innocent observation left Stella at a loss for words.

“Adrian, don’t talk nonsense. We are from two different families. We're just sitting at the stable for now,”

Stella quickly corrected him.
