Tina remained silent, her eyes fixed on Mia's face.
After a long pause, just as Mia was starting to falter, Tina finally spoke, her voice calm and measured. "Grand Aunt Mia, please leave. My parents are here, and we don't need outsiders meddling." Mia froze, about to retort, but Tina's sharp gaze narrowed, her entire demeanor exuding a cold, cutting aura. "Grand Aunt Mia," Tina warned, her tone steely, "it would be best not to provokeright now. My abilities are no weaker than my mother's." Mia's body trembled, memories of her last beating still fresh. She glared at Tina with hatred, muttered a string of curses under her breath, and stormed off.
Jared entered just in tto see Tina watching Mia's retreating figure, her narrowed eyes reflecting a swirl of emotions.
"Was it her?" Jared asked.
Tina pressed her lips together. "No. There's been no change in her bone structure." "So, it's two people then?" Jared probed.
Tina's voice dropped. "Impossible. I wouldn't have missed two figures appearing in such a short time. Unless..." Her tone grew colder. "Unless she also possesses abilities, and her skills rival ours." Jared frowned. "Luke Langdon once said Claudia was incredibly powerful-strong enough to be invulnerable to weapons. It's possible her abilities go beyond what we know." "Whatever abilities she may have," Tina declared, her fists clenching tightly, "this time, she won't escape." Seeing the intensity in her clenched fists, Jared's gaze deepened.

Jared spoke politely, "Dad, we'll report this matter to the higher-ups. There's no need for you to handle it personally." Ruud frowned. "We're family. How is this trouble? You go handle your investigation. This is nothing worth worrying about." Tina nodded. "Thank you, Dad." She did have more pressing matters to deal with.
Though she didn't yet know why Claudia had targeted her uncle, she was determined to ensure nothing disrupted her uncle's wedding.
A Week Later, Swanson Family Mark had just returned when he was summoned for questioning.
Furious upon arriving home, he ordered his men to bring Jon and Kevin to him immediately.
The butler hesitated before responding truthfully, "Sir, Kevin suddenly fell gravely ill two days ago. The hospital couldn't determine the cause, so he's been quarantined in his room. The family doctor checks on him daily." Mark let out a cold laugh. "So, they claim they can't find the cause." When Jon arrived, he had barely stepped into the room before an ashtray flew at his forehead, striking him and causing blood to trickle down his face.
Stooping to pick up the ashtray, Jon's expression remained unchanged as he respectfully handed it back. "Grandfather, I don't know what I've done wrong. Please, enlighten me." Mark's narrowed eyes revealed no emotion beneath his mask-like expression. "River's involvement in state secrets-are you tellingyou knew nothing about it?" Jon froze, quickly lowering his head. His expression didn't betray any lies. "Grandfather, I truly knew nothing about this." Mark, seated above him, stared coldly down at Jon. "You didn't know? Then where did the billions in your hands cfrom?" Jon's face shifted slightly, though he kept his head bowed. "Grandfather, River did givemoney, but she said it was from her investments. It wasn't what you're imagining." Mark let out a derisive snort. "You've managed the company for years, and you're tellingyou're unaware of the earnings from her company? If she were truly capable of that, then she should be running the company, not you." "And another thing-I've heard about what you've been up to at the company. You wanted to take my place while I was away, didn't you?" Mark's voice suddenly turned icy. "Jon, I'm not dead yet!" Jon fell to his knees with a thud, his face pale. "Grandfather, I wouldn't dare! I only wanted to intimidate those in the company who refuse to comply. I never had such intentions." "Go punish yourself," Mark snapped. "Don't letsee you for the next seven days. I'll decide your fate after that." Jon trembled but bowed his head in acceptance.
Before leaving, Jon ventured to ask, "Grandfather, what's River's current situation?" Mark stood, his black-clad figure looming ominously beside Jon. His voice was ice-cold. "She'd better be dead. If not, her attack on Poppy alone means I won't let her live another day." Kevin's Room Kaleigh stood by the bedside, holding medicine, helplessly watching over an ailing Kevin.
"Brother, we should go to the hospital. You can't keep going like this. If something happens to you..." Kevin coughed weakly, frowning as he motioned for her to leave. "Kaleigh, go back. I'm fine." Kaleigh stomped her foot in frustration. "You're practically on your deathbed, and you're still pretending to be fine! I'll call Grandfather right now. If this continues, we'll all-" Her words were cut short by the sound of the door opening. She turned to see Mark enter, her breath catching in fear. "Grandfather!" Mark acknowledged her with a cold grunt, not sparing her a glance as he approached Kevin's bedside. He handed Kevin a pill. "Take this." Without hesitation, Kevin swallowed it, his pale lips curving into a faint smile. "Thank you, Grandfather." Mark sighed. "Kevin, don't blme for being harsh. Poppy is too young, and with only you and Jon left in the Swanson family, the family cannot be without an heir." Kevin's expression darkened briefly. "You're right, Grandfather. I've never intended to compete with my brother." "I've already punished Jon," Mark said. "Once you're feeling better, I'll arrange for you to move to another residence." With that, Mark left the room.
As his figure disappeared, Kaleigh finally exhaled deeply, looking at om Kevin in astonishment Brother, was that really Grandfather? I never knew he could be so... compassionate." "Compassionate?" Kevin's eyes flickered briefly with mockery, though it vanished quickly.
"Kaleigh," he said, "find out where they're keeping Jon. I need to speak with him." Understanding his meaning, Kaleigh left with the medicine bowl.
For her, the pill from their grandfather signified hope. It meant he still m favored Kevin, and they weren't entirely without a chance. Once the door was shut again, Kevin slowly sat up in bed. His face showed no sign of illness.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBefore long, a message from Kaleigh arrived: The last building in the castle.
Kevin put away his phone and waited.
Late that night, he changed into a disguise and made his way to the castle's depths.
Inside the first room, Jon was suspended from a rack, his body covered in blood.
This was the Swanson family's punishment chamber.
Kevin walked calmly past the torture devices, stopping in front of Jon. He splashed water onto Jon's face.
Jon stirred awake, his expression twisting with disdain when he saw Kevin. "What are you here for? To mock me?" Unbothered, Kevin replied coldly, "In my eyes, you've always been a joke."
Seeing Jon's disbelief, Kevin continued, "You seeas your rival, always on guard, even when I was poisoned. But you made the wrong bet. I have no interest in anything the Swanson family has to offer."
