Chapter 882

"People seem to really enjoy these sorts of things nowadays. | often see them during live streams," Christine

remarked casually as she sipped her drink.

Duke Northwood poured her a cup of barley tea. "When it comes to buying a home, it's not just any house that

will do."

Christine nodded in agreement. She knew firsthand how challenging it was to purchase a place of her own. It had

taken her quite stto secure her cozy little apartment.

If it hadn't been for Jane's help, she might still be searching.

"Don't worry," Duke reassured her. "If | spot something promising this time, we'll integrate it with our brand.

Once the word gets out, you'll be able to earn enough to buy your dream house."

"That sounds wonderful. I'm well aware of your brand's influence," Christine replied with a smile.

The two of them chatted merrily in the private dining room, their conversation filled with laughter and

camaraderie.

Next door, however, the atmosphere was starkly different.

Libby, seemingly oblivious to the tension, continued to serve Dailey, peeling shrimp and placing them on his

plate.

"I grew up in Cliffside Town," she said, reminiscing. "I had a persistent lung ailment and never quite adjusted to

Vista Town's climate."

"This restaurant has been around for nearly a century. It's a Cliffside Town staple. Try this shrimp; it's different

from what you get in Vista Town."

"It's simply poached, with no water or seasoning added. It's fresh and has a sweet aftertaste."

Libby chattered on, whether Dailey responded or not.

Dailey ran his thumb along the rim of his teacup, his face a mask of calmness, though his mind was anything

but.

At one point, he excused himself to use the restroom and overheard the laughter from next door.

When he returned, he noticed his tea had been refilled. He drank it silently. Libby's eyes gleamed with

determination. After yesterday's setback, today she was resolved to succeed. Ideally, she wanted to conceive.

Meanwhile, Christine and Duke Northwood had enjoyed a few drinks. Not quite ready to call it a night after the

meal, they planned to continue their evening elsewhere.

As Duke went to settle the bill, Christine headed to the restroom. But before she could enter, she was pulled into

a private room with a hand over her mouth.

She wasn't afraid; the familiar scent told her who it was.

"Dailey!" she exclaimed, prying his hand away. She turned to scold him, but he silenced her with an unexpected

kiss.

Oh, not this again. Another unwanted kiss.

Christine instinctively raised her knee,

After a moment, she nudged his foot. "Con, stop pretending. | didn't even hit you that hard."

Dailey remained silent, sweat beading on his temple.

No way. She hadn't aimed for anything crucial, had she?

Conflicted, Christine crouched down and noticed his pallor. She touched his

forehead-it was burning hot.

"Are you sick?" she asked, worried. "Where's Primo and the others?"

Dailey didn't answer, clearly in pain.

They were exes, but last time, Dailey had risked himself to save her. She couldn't just leave him like this.

"Alright, I'll take you to the hospital first, then contact Primo," she decided.

She grabbed his arm, attempting to

After several failed attempts, she panted, "Stay here. I'll find my friends to help."

She barely took a step before he caught her ankle.

Christine was losing patience. "Listen, either you get up on your own, or letget help."

"Being sick doesn't give you the right to act out."

"If you refuse both options, then you can just sit here and fend for yourself!"
