Little Tyrant Doesn't Want to Meet with a Bad End
Chapter 294: From the UnknownChapter 294: From the Unknown
This was the night that Holy Envoy Roel became the ‘Light of Salvation’ to the worshipers of the Mother Goddess.
He was the savior, the grace the Mother Goddess had bestowed upon Her cornered children. He was the executioner, judging those who dared to blaspheme the Mother Goddess.
The fearless disciples of the Saints Convocation had gone completely red-eyed as they embarked on an unbelievable all-out retaliation. Their fanatic charge tore the black-armored soldiers and black-robed figures apart. Ferocious war cries shook the entire city.
Standing by Roel’s side were the strongest elites amongst the disciples. They had declared themselves his personal guards, vowing to protect the venerable Holy Envoy with their lives.
Even Bradley had stepped on top of a humongous human-scorpion puppet to lead the charge at the very forefront. He knew that this was his very last chance.
“The Mother Goddess is looking upon me!”
The fanatic disciples roared in delirium as they charged in without any regard for their lives, mercilessly shredding the Salvation Brotherhood’s defense line apart. Sensing that things were going awry, the members of the Brotherhood quickly called for reinforcement, but it didn’t make a difference.
...
“Bloody banshees! What the hell is going on here? Are those dogs of the Mother Goddess out of their bloody minds?”
In the headquarters of the Salvation Brotherhood, Bishop Sartoni listened to his subordinate’s report in utter bewilderment, not comprehending how such a thing could have happened.
It was just earlier in the day that those from the Saints Convocation were looking completely despondent, acting as if it was already the end of them. Many thought that their morale would collapse the moment they were forced to face the monsters at night, but they suddenly fought back fiercely as if they were high on drugs.
How in the world was this even happening?
“What about our Salvation Legion? How did they overcome the lockdown of our Salvation Legion?” roared Sartoni angrily.
It was beyond his imagination that the Saints Convocation could possibly overcome the black-armored soldiers and black-robed figures. The disciples also frowned upon hearing his question.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Based on what we heard, it seems like the Holy Envoy of the Saints Convocation has arrived on the battlefield, and he granted them the blessing of the Mother Goddess...”
“Bullshit! We’ve already killed their Holy Envoy, so how could there possibly be another one?” Sartoni interrupted his subordinate furiously.
In the end, he decided to head there in person and check out the situation.
However, the closer he got to the battlefield, the more awful his complexion became. He could hear impassioned battle cries, explosions, and screams of agony coming from in front of him—evidence that the enemies were fighting back hard.
He quickly scaled onto a vantage point to gain an overview of the battlefield. He noticed a huge crowd gathered in the middle of the battlefield, forming an airtight protection around a black-haired man.
This black-haired man had golden eyes that glowed like candlelight in the darkness, and he emanated a mysterious mana pulsation that neutralized the whispers of the black-haired soldiers and black-robed figures.
What was even more amazing was that the crowd gathered around him were no pushovers. Beside him were Bishop Bradley and the other elite disciples of the Saints Convocation. In front of him were massive human-scorpion puppets and countless warriors charging forth fearlessly while shouting things like ‘In the name of the Mother Goddess and the Holy Envoy!’.
“Damn it! How is this possible? Do they have two Holy Envoys?”
Sartoni’s complexion turned awful upon seeing the black-haired man. There was only one person he could think of who could resist the blasphemous murmurs of the Salvation Legion and rally all of the disciples together—the Holy Envoy. If that black-haired man was truly the Holy Envoy, the Salvation Brotherhood would have to make significant adjustments to their war strategy.
In truth, the Holy Envoy of the Saints Convocation was not necessarily strong since strength wasn’t a major part of the selection criteria. It would be more accurate to view the Holy Envoy as a key to unlocking the trump cards of the Saints Convocation, which, in the words he had received from the higher-ups, ‘had to be avoided at all costs’.
It took them a lot of effort to track down the whereabouts of the Holy Envoy and kill him, but it seemed like the Saints Convocation had a countermeasure prepared. They actually managed to sneak another Holy Envoy in.
I need to report this matter to the higher-ups right away.
Sartoni shot a hateful glare toward Roel before hurriedly leaving the frontlines.
...
Bradley felt like he was in a dream.
When the sun finally rose two hours later, the Holy Envoy finally ordered a halt to the assault. By then, they had already managed to fully regain the eastern city area and parts of the northern city area, expanding their territory by twofold in a single breath.
This was the only major victory the Saints Convocation had since the outbreak of war, and it raised their morale greatly. It also saved Bradley from the seemingly inevitable doom creeping up on him. This momentous turnaround cemented Roel’s prestige and influence in the Saints Convocation Leinster Branch.
Roel looked upon the excited crowd before him quietly as he reviewed his goals.
So far, the infiltration mission was a success. No one would dare to question his position as a Holy Envoy of the Saints Convocation anymore, and he could now rally the disciples to do his bidding.
At the same time, he successfully stirred a huge commotion and brought attention to himself. If Lilian was in the city as well, it was only a matter of time before she learned of his current location and came looking for him.
Aside from that, this victory was also necessary to rattle up the leaders and garrison troops stationed in the Saint Freya Academy a little. Under normal circumstances, there was no way the leaders of the Saint Freya Academy would agree to a meeting with the Saints Convocation, but the earlier victory over the Salvation Brotherhood gave them some leverage to work with. If things went well, he might just get an opportunity to meet ‘Academic’.
The bad thing was that the Saints Convocation paid a heavy price for the intense battle they fought. Roel’s Crown Origin Attribute only granted the disciples some resistance against the monsters’ whispers, but the black-armored soldiers and black-robed figures were still troublesome enemies.
It was only through the unbelievably high morale and fearless charge of the disciples that allowed them to achieve such a crushing victory.
Roel had qualms about leading the disciples to their deaths, but this was a battle that couldn’t be avoided for them, and they were all ultimately evil cultists.
Besides, it didn’t seem like they were averse to the idea of dying...
“Those who stood steadfast to their faith and defended the Mother Goddess’ honor to their dying breath, you may be assured that they have returned to the Mother Goddess’ embrace,” Roel looked at the corpses before him and remarked solemnly.
Upon hearing those words, the fanatic disciples had such a heated expression on their faces that it looked almost as if they wished that they had died in yesterday’s fight.
It left Roel wondering just how their brains were wired, but he quickly decided that he didn’t really want to know the answer to that. With a light sigh, he beckoned Bradley over with a wave of his hand.
“Lord Holy Envoy, is there something you need from this humble one?”
Bradley’s attitude had also completely changed after the battle. As soon as he saw Roel’s beckoning, he rushed over with a fawning look on his face, almost as if he was flattered by the attention.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSo, Roel took a more casual tone with him too.
“Tell me the situation over at the Saint Freya Academy. Is there anyone from the Twilight Sages Assembly there?”
“Y-yes, there are two of them! ‘Academic’ Astrid and ‘Guardian’ Antonio. They are likely waiting for reinforcements at the moment.
‘Guardian’ Antonio?
Roel was surprised to hear of that name as it reflexively reminded him of the white-haired principal of the Saint Freya Academy, but he didn’t allow his thoughts to show on his face.
“I see...” remarked Roel with a contemplative nod. “Even if they are from the Assembly, it doesn’t mean that we can’t make use of their power, especially when we share a common enemy. Find a way to get in touch with them. We’re going to negotiate a deal.”
Bradley’s eyes slowly lit up as he answered affirmatively.
...
At the same time, in the southern city area of Leinster.
There was a narrow alley strewn with corpses, emanating a nauseating stench of blood. The disciples of the Salvation Brotherhood were stunned to see this tragic scene, for the ones dead weren’t ordinary citizens but the black-armored soldiers.
“H-how is this possible? Aren’t they supposed to go on a rampage as soon as any living being comes close to them?” murmured one of the frightened disciples nervously.
The disciples proceeded deeper, but the number of corpses lying around only continued to increase. There had to be at least a thousand lying all around them!
Finally, at the very end of the alley, they found themselves faced with a human survivor.
“There’s a survivor here! He’s one of us!”
“Hey, what’s going on?”
“B-b-black-haired woman... A-all humans, all humans! Hahahaha...”
The human survivor was so traumatized that his body was trembling uncontrollably and his words were practically incoherent. Halfway through his explanation, he even broke out in a manic laughter, leaving the other disciples creeped out by his hysterical behavior.
Meanwhile, in the streets some distance away from the alley, a black-haired woman was currently walking with a downcast look on her face as she mulled over the information she had gathered last night.
“Where are you, Roel...”
