At the same time that Osric and Tritus were battling each other, Kyran had already arrived below the center of the fiery ball. It took him some time to reach his destination because he did not use the Dragon Steps to move.
He did not use it to avoid showing all his cards to Osric, in case the latter still kept a close watch on him using his magic sense.
If Tritus fell short of obtaining the upper hand against Osric, Kyran could instantly come to his rescue. Though he could also achieve this using his warp ability, there was no telling if Osric had a way of countering it.
Osric was a person born in the Chaos Era, and the possibility of him possessing items that could counter Void magic was there. In any case, if such things were really available, they probably could not mass produce them. Such an item would definitely be rare.
Kyran had considered all of these things after hearing that the Royal Family had 'close to' nil information about Void magic— meaning they did have information, albeit too little.
Aside from this, his father and Nolan knew an array formula that could counter warp-like abilities. Obviously, they learned it from the Tower of Tribulation. However, there was no telling if an advanced formula that came from the tower would not be leaked to the outside. Such an item could quickly be auctioned, especially during the Chaos Era.
Kyran pushed these thoughts aside as he observed the fiery ball above. He wanted to determine the distance of the ball to the ground first. However, it soon dawned on him that it was impossible for him— or anyone at that— to measure the ball's distance to the ground.
The reason behind this was the presence of a space distortion around the fiery ball.
The space distortion looked like a thin translucent veil, like a flimsy wall that cushioned the fiery ball, separating it from the Human plane. Since it was translucent, people or even mages with poor eyesight could not see it. As a matter of fact, those with good vision would have a hard time seeing it even up close.
The only reason Kyran noticed the distortion was because Void magic had similarities to Space magic. To be honest, he first sensed the distortion before seeing the translucent veil.
In any case, the space distortion was not part of the fiery ball but originated from the hole in the sky.
Now that Kyran thought of it, it did make sense.
The hole in the sky resulted from an outside force trying to break into the Human plane's space. Not to mention, the hole was not considered something corporeal. Even if one flew up in the sky, as long as they had not grasped the truth about the existence of Sovereigns and other planes, it was impossible for them to 'arrive' before it.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSimilarly, the fiery ball had only touched the periphery of the hole. Thus, it could be said that the fiery ball had not entered the Human plane yet.
Based on all these facts, the fiery ball could be said to be visible to the eye but had yet to appear there physically.
Discovering that the fiery ball had yet to enter the plane did not put Kyran at ease. He recalled the scene that greeted them upon their arrival, and his expression turned grim at once.
With only a projection of the fiery ball, the ground beneath it had been reduced to a scorched land; if it successfully entered the Human plane, did it not mean it could easily destroy a quarter of it?
Frankly, the quarter destruction was the minimum scale that Kyran imagined. In the worst-case scenario, the scale could destroy half of the Human plane.
Kyran could not let something like that happen. He racked his brain on how to destroy the fiery ball, or at least push it back without aggravating what was left of the flimsy veil that kept it at bay and prevented the hole in the sky from expanding.
Initially, he wanted to reduce the fiery ball into nothingness using his Void magic. However, he remembered Mannick's warning about how Void magic could affect 'space' because of its nature. If he used Void magic, would he not destroy the flimsy veil as well?
Kyran's expression turned solemn as he thought of using Draconic magic.
Although Draconic magic's nature was destruction, if Kyran could control it, he could target the fiery ball alone.
A wry smile appeared on his face as he remembered that he could barely control the output of his Draconic magic. His training in the Tower of Tribulation focused on improving his control and knowledge about Void magic, not Draconic magic.
So far, Kyran had treated his Draconic magic like the Regis Blessing and only amplified his physical strength. As for the dragon-like parts that manifested when unleashing a punch or a kick, those were simply him molding the Draconic energy in his body.
Kyran was still hesitant about using his Draconic magic. After all, it could be considered one of his ultimate trump cards.
'How can I remove that fiery ball without affecting the space distortion?' Kyran wondered.
CRACKLE! SIZZLE!
Before Kyran could come up with a solution, crackling and sizzling sounds echoed in the surroundings. After which, he noticed the size of the fiery ball increased slightly.
'Not good!' He thought as he took out what was left of the rare materials he used to create the energy cores of his puppets.
The reason Kyran could only use the shape-shifting plates when 'hovering' and 'gliding' through the air was because it was the only item in his possession that could withstand his magic's nature. If he used other things, it would not be able to withstand the pressure of his magic.
'The only other material that could withstand the Void magic's nature is the ones I used to make the energy core,' Kyran thought while rummaging through his item.
Kyran managed to create two small plates from the leftover materials in over twenty seconds and immediately stuck them to his soles.
Nevertheless, the crackling and sizzling sounds had intensified in that twenty seconds. The fiery ball also increased in size.
The increase was not obvious, but Kyran sensed it through how the space distortion crackled. To him, the crackling sound seemed like a distress call.
Kyran's eyes turned reddish-purple as he roused his magic energy. He inserted Void magic energies into the small plates at the soles of his shoes and used his magic sense to control it. Soon, he shot upward to the hole in the sky.
But.
WHOOSH!
Kyran's eyes widened as a pillar of red light pierced through the center of the fiery ball from the other side.
CRACKLE!
Red lightnings swam within the red light as it successfully pierced the fiery ball and continue to infiltrate through the hole in the sky.
Kyran's eyes recognized the red light and the lightning that came within it at once. It was a similar move Ruin once did that almost reduced his whole body into dust.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSummoning two purple spheres, one on each hand, Kyran threw them toward the descending red light with lightning. If that move hit the ground, there was no telling how much destruction it would do to the Human plane. The fact that it easily pierced a hole into the fiery ball was proof of how strong it was.
The two purple spheres that Kyran released increased in size as they picked up speed. Soon they were only meters away from the descending red light with lightning.
Kyran raised his hand toward the latter two.
BOOM!
A massive explosion followed as the two magic energies collided.
As soon as the explosion erupted, Kyran summoned a massive magic barrier to cover the sky, preventing the shockwave from spreading to the ground. Normally, his magic attacks would disintegrate other magic attacks. Only when the magic energy from the opposing magic attack was far greater than his own would it result in an explosion.
In any case, if Kyran did not prevent the shockwave from spreading outward, this place would definitely be razed to the ground.
Meanwhile, Osric and Tritus also noticed the commotion and could not help but look in the direction of the fiery ball.
'This...!' Osric was stunned to see a hole appearing on the fiery ball. At the same time, a light purple barrier covered the sky.
Tritus was also shocked. However, he regained his composure at once and aimed his trident at Osric.
"Humph!" Osric waved his hand that held his staff to block Tritus's trident. "Don't think I have lost my focus just because I have looked away."
Tritus did not respond, but a smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he shifted the tip of his trident and pointed at something behind Osric.
Osric's eyes widened as soon as he realized what Tritus was really after.
"You—!"
However, it was already too late. A blue with gold concentrated magic energy shot out from the tip of the Tritus trident and went toward the bluish-white sea serpent that the bluish-green sea serpent had already pinned.
