Chapter 49

On that day, the Sanchez’s clubhouse was unexpectedly packed.

When Mrs. Sanchez and Guillermo finally arrived at the

clubhouse, they were stunned to see rows of luxury cars parked outside.

Mrs. Sanchez clenched her fists, gritting her teeth, “It’s just a small birthday party for a nobody in the Sanchez

family, how did it attract so many influential people?”

Guillermo, managing to stay calm, comforted his mother, “Mom, don’t get upset. These big shots are not here

for Theodore, they’ re here because of the Sanchez family’s reputation. Once they see Theodore in those shabby

clothes, they'll realize that his status in the family is less than a dog's.”

A venomous smile appeared in Mrs. Sanchez’s eyes. She straightened her back and walked into the clubhouse.

Guillermo followed closely behind.

Upon entering, the clubhouse, which should have been filled with extravagant luxury fitting for the Sanchez

family’s status as the number one financial empire, was not as expected. Instead, there were scholarly

calligraphy and paintings, with ancient poetry and couplets on every wall, each wishing Theodore well and

blessing the Sanchez family.

and valuable collectibles. All she saw were ordinary paintings that weren't at all luxurious, and many of them

were rather worn out. She immediately smiled, whispering to Guillermo, “Son, did. you collect these paintings

from a street market? You must've gotten a nice kickback, right?”

Guillermo had, of course, taken a cut from the funds his father had allocated for the event, but he didn’t feel

happy about it.

His mother didn’t understand the art, and although he had received a Western education, he knew that

calligraphy and paintings could be both valuable and priceless. Seeing so many pieces in the room, he couldn't

estimate their worth, and an inexplicable unease began to creep into his heart.

“Mom, these paintings may not be worth much, but the room is filled with scholarly elegance. It makes that

stinky kid seem well-read and knowledgeable.”

Guillermo wasn’t pleased with how the servants had arranged things.

Mrs. Sanchez responded, “That's even better. It won't disgrace our family’s scholarly reputation and will show

insiders how little Theodore is valued.”

Just then, Theodore appeared.

He casually wore a cheap down jacket worth only a few hundred maybe. The luxurious clothes of the guests in

attendance made his outfit look even more pitiful by comparison.

Guillermo’s unease disappeared in an instant.

He smirked, walking up to Theodore, and said in a tone that was

sweet but with hidden malice, “Little brother, look, this is the adult ceremony | carefully prepared for you. Are

you satisfied?”

Theodore’s eyes scanned the expensive calligraphy and paintings on the walls. He was relieved.

He was glad he hadn't let his grandfather frthese worn-out priceless treasures in a lavish way, which meant

that these two blind ignoramuses couldn’t immediately see through his true intentions.

“I'm more than satisfied. Thank you, big brother.”

A sly smile flashed in his eyes, but it didn’t reach his lips.

His voice was gentle, soft as if without bones, but to Guillermo’s ears, it felt strangely unsettling.

“Glad to hear that,” Guillermo said, his gaze falling to the down jacket. A sneer appeared at the corner of his lips.

“Little brother, this jacket’s nice, really suits you.”

He reached over and touched the down jacket.

But suddenly, Theodore shrugged it off and tossed it straight into the trash can.
