Right now, the only person who knew about my new company was Edward. | haven't told anyone else yet.

| want to wait until the company is running smoothly before sharing the news with my closest friends and family.

Edward didn’t hesitate-he just moved his whole office into the company, setting up shop right next door to

mine.

Tflew by, and before | knew it, it was already October. Edward and | had been working together for quite

stnow.

At first, | thought he was distant and kind of hard to approach, but that was just how he acted around others. The

real Edward was gentle and kind, like a rare gem. Sure, he could be assertive and sometimes a little

domineering, but honestly, compared to all the things he’s taught me, that’s a small price to pay.

We were about to negotiate a major contract-if we landed it, it would be enough to sustain the company for the

next three years. But right at this critical moment, Edward had to return to the United Kingdom to take care of

sbusiness. With him away, | had to learn to handle everything on my own.

| gave the visiting reps a grand welcome. Over dinner, the table was full of dirty jokes and flirty banter- nothing

too wild, but it really gavea glimpse into what sguys are really like.

Out of nowhere, | just felt bored to death. These so-called elites, after wining and dining themselves silly, all they

wanted was to hit up sfancy club and chase after pretty girls. They didn’t even bother to hide it- they just

laid out their demands right there.

| watched these middle-aged men, married with families back in their hometowns, living the single life here.

They had cash to burn, long nights ahead, and they sure didn’t plan on spending them solo.

| sent my team to deal with them, but even my own men’s eyes sparkled, ready to jump right in. Joining the

party and going with the crowd-it all cout in the open at that moment.

Going with the crowd was just how things worked here. How many people could really keep their hands clean

and not get swept up in it all?

The more people | met, the more my outlook changed day by day. Love was like the moon hanging far -gorgeous,

but always out of reach.

away

This new job showedwhat people are really like, and my hopelessly romantic side was finally waking up to

reality.

Around three in the afternoon, the representative from the other company invitedout for afternoon tea, just

the two of us.

He was a chubby man with beady little eyes that sparkled with something I couldn't quite put my finger on.

“Ms. Murphy, I'd like to finalize the details of the contract with you. You know, sthings are best discussed in

person,” he said, smiling warmly.

| brought two people with me, but had them wait outside in case | needed backup. | pushed open the door and

walked into the private room.

Wearing a sharp designer suit, | had his full attention the moment | walked in.

“Ms. Murphy, you're really something. Starting your own company at such a young age,” he checkedout

from head to toe, his interest written all over his face.

| smiled and took the seat across from him. “Yeah, for a woman my age to make it in business, it’s definitely an

uphill battle.”

“But you still pulled it off. | have to give you credit for that,” he said, givinga thumbs-up, then following it up

with a couple of suggestive gestures that were anything but polite.

| smiled, deciding to remind him to stay professional. “If | didn’t have someone supportingfrom behind, |

wouldn't have had the courage to get this far. Mr. Wallace, you're in your prand holding such a high position-

I'm sure your success isn’t just by chance. There must be a lot about you that’s worth admiring.”

Frank Wallace immediately smiled and reined in his expression. “Ms. Murphy, it's obvious you're a woman of

culture. It’s rare to see someone with the sharp edge of a true professional, yet the cultured air of someone from

a scholarly family.”

“Mr. Wallace, you're too kind. Let's get down to business,” | said. Frank took out the contract, and in the next

moment, he slid over to sit right beside me.

The little sofa was only meant for two, so when he scooted in, our sides were pressed together.

Frank grinned at me. “Stay with me, Ms. Murphy.”

| took a deep breath, put on my best professional smile, and turned my attention to the contract.
