Chapter 375: Chapter 403: Did you hear everything my mom said?
After staying with the Stephens family for a few days, Daisy suggested going back to Banyan City for a visit.
This time, Edward Stephens did not stop her but insisted that she focus on recovering first.
Daisy’s health has indeed been very fragile lately, with bleeding from internal organs, and it’s not something
that can be recovered within a month. To fully restore her health, medication is needed alongside bedrest,
making an immediate flight back impossible.
She accepted his response.
Their relationship becmuch more harmonious following her recent hospitalization.
After the most intense arguments, the trivialities of life seemed too insignificant to bother arguing over. Daisy
returned to the Stephens residence, feeling dazed most days. Sometimes when Charlotte Smith brought her
medicine, she wouldn't even notice her entering.
Lady Stephens was always around, but she seldom left her room, so their paths never crossed. Occasionally, late
at night, the hallway would echo with Lady Stephens’ footsteps and chatter with the maids. Her gentle, lively
voice contrasted with the somber atmosphere of the Stephens residence; perhaps it was her innocent sweetness
that allowed her to live comfortably in such a place.
Yet one evening, while Daisy awoke from a deep sleep, she overheard Edward and Lady Stephens talking outside
the door.
Their voices were kept intentionally low, fearing to wake her, but the quiet of the night let their conversation
seep clearly through the door.

done anything to wrong you; if anyone is to blame, it should be me. Don’t vent your anger on her," Lady
Stephens said.
"I don’t blher."
"I deceived her back then. | don’t regret saving you, but | regret not telling her sooner," Lady Stephens
continued, her voice trembling with emotion. "Had I told her earlier, things wouldn't have blown up like this; it
would have been better for both of you."
"Why did you lie to her back then?"
"Why? | was scared... He's been dead for eight years now, and you think she wouldn't hateif she found out? |

"If not for your illness, | would never have returned to Banyan City," Lady Stephens spoke softly, "I was reckless,
thinking I could keep her in the dark forever. Edward, the fault lies entirely with me; don’t blDaisy. If anyone
should be hated, it's me; if anyone should be resented, it's me. You both are good kids; it was mom who made
the mistake."
Edward replied in a low voice, "I don’t resent you. You should sleep, it's getting late."
The sounds of Lady Stephens’ gentle sighs cthrough, suggesting Edward accompanied her a few steps
before returning, opening the door.
"I knew you were awake," he stated.
