Matthew never thought that Tessa would be so fierce. Up until now, he had believed she was just a soft and gentle woman.
By the the snapped back to his senses, Tessa had already left.
Yanis was enraged and ready to charge after Tessa. However, Matthew quickly stopped her and said, "Alright, stop making a scene now. This is the entrance to the courthouse!" She immediately burst into tears and sobbed. "Matthew, you're just a heartless bastard! Your wife was being bullied, yet you just stood there and did nothing! Fuck off! Don't touch me!" Annoyance filled Matthew's eyes as he said, "Alright, now. Stop making a fuss. Let's go back together." "What's wrong? Mom, what happened to your face?" Zachary, who had just cout of the restroom, walked toward them in confusion.
"That bitch, Tessa, slapped me!" Matthew's expression darkened as he said, "Zachary, take your mom away. She's embarrassing us all by making a scene here." "Dad, what happened?" Zachary asked with a frown.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMatthew explained, "Your mom rushed at Ms. Yates just now, wanting to hit her. However, she didn't manage to hit her and got slapped instead.
"She's the one who started it, so you can't blMs. Yates for slapping her. Alright. Let's just go home." Zachary reproached her for her actions and said, "Mom, I know you aren't happy with the court's decision, but that doesn't mean you can hit someone. Tessa is Dad's lawyer and was just doing her job. You shouldn't have taken out your anger on her." Yanis' eyes turned red as she screamed, "You're supporting that bitch instead of your own family now, are you? I am your mother! How could you support that bitch over me? Do you even seeas your mother anymore?" Enraged, Zachary roared, "How could you say that I don't see you as my mother? I listened to you too much. I wouldn't have snuck around with Wendy, nor would I have hurt Tessa if I didn't listen to you!" "Are you blamingnow?" Yanis exclaimed.
Zachary sneered and replied, "How could I possibly dare to blyou?" "Alright, stop arguing now. My ride's here. Let's go back together," Matthew said as he left the courthouse.
Once Tessa returned to the law firm, her receptionist, Aubrey Reed, greeted her with a smile. "Ms. Yates, you're back. Ms. Scott's waiting for you in your office." Tessa paused. "Ms. Scott is here?" "That's right. She's been waiting for almost an hour now. I told her you had a court hearing today, but she said she was fine with waiting," Aubrey said.
Tessa hummed in response and entered her office.
Meanwhile, Marissa was sitting on the couch as she flipped through a law journal, looking somewhat bored. When she saw that Tessa had returned, she put the journal down and greeted Tessa. "You're finally back." Tessa placed her bag down and sat on the couch.
"Ms. Scott, did you need something from me?" As she spoke, she took out a pack of premium-grade tea leaves to brew.
Marissa smiled and said, "I brought you a gift." Then, she took out a box and explained, "Tessa, I customized this pink diamond necklace for you. This is a thank- you gift for saving my life last time.
"Since custom pieces take tbefore they're completed, I only received the piece after a few days. Why don't you take a look at it and see if you like it?" Marissa opened the box and showed Tessa the pink diamond necklace inside.
Tessa glanced at the necklace and immediately froze. The pink diamond looked to be around the size of a 25-carat diamond. It was gfa shaped into a large teardrop dazzling under the overhead lights.

Furthermore, the necklace itself held dozens of smaller diamonds. It was so beautiful and luxurious that it was hard to look away. "Ms. Scott, this necklace is too expensive. I can't accept it."
Judging from the logo on the box alone, Tessa knew it would have cost Marissa tens of millions to have the brand make a custom-made necklace. The piece was exquisite, and just the 25-carat diamond alone would have cost Marissa at least 100 million dollars.
Tessa had a lot of jewelry, including plenty of necklaces and bracelets worth tens or hundreds of millions of dollars.
That said, it was one thing to buy such expensive jewelry for herself, and another to accept such an expensive piece from Marissa.
If she truly liked a piece, she could always buy it for herself, no matter how expensive it was.
In addition, it wasn't proper of her to accept such an extravagant gift from someone else. Tessa could not accept it.
Marissa smiled when she heard
Tessa's words. "Just take it. You saved my life. Think about it this way-my life is worth way more than my life is this necklace. You saved my life, so giving you a gift in return is the least I could do." Tessa shook her head. "I can't accept this." "Tessa, are you saying that my life isn't even worth a necklace?" Tessa chuckled in exasperation and said, "You know that wasn't what I meant." "Then, just accept this gift."
