Chapter 901
Avery found himself trapped in an interrogation room at the police station, a scenathat felt almost alien to
him. It had been nearly a full day—a stark contrast to his life in Helgen, where he was practically untouchable,
surrounded by sycophants and admirers. Back in his hcountry, he was the uncrowned king of the nightlife,
ruling over The Velvet Haven with an iron fist. With his recent takeover of the Chambers Group, his power
seemed limitless, his word law.
The trappings of power, wealth, and fame—all swirled around him, elevating him to dizzying heights. Now,
reduced to a mere detainee, every second dragged on, an unbearable insult to his ego.
"How much longer before | can get out of here?" Avery lounged in the
uncomfortable chair, his legs crossed, the chilly glare from behind his gold-rimmed glasses could freeze hell
over.
"Mr. Chambers, why the rush? We've got all the tin the world," replied Aaron, unfazed by Avery's imposing
presence. "Besides, we've still got fifteen minutes before the 24-hour mark. Why would | let someone of your
stature walk so easily? After all, it wasn't easy getting you here."

Inside, Aaron was a bundle of nerves, his heart pounding like a drum. With only ten minutes left before the drug
test results were due, if Avery cback clean, not only would he have to release him, but catching him again
would be near impossible.
"So, you just wanted scompany, is that it? Hoping for a heart-to-heart?" Avery leaned back, his pale face a
mask of frost, as he glanced at his watch, "Let's talk then. About how you and Evadne conspired against me."
Aaron felt a chill down his spine. "Avery, without evidence, your accusations hold no water."
"And you draggedhere without evidence, to have coffee?" Avery crushed the paper cup in his hand, "But let
decent beans."
"Avery!" Aaron's eyes flared, as he stood abruptly.
"I'm not the one in a hurry here. Or are you trying to force a confession?" Avery's long, pale fingers crushed the
paper cup into a tight ball, the veins on his hand bulging. "I'm telling you, | don't do drugs. Never have. Aaron,
you'd better figure out how to explain this to your boss in the next fifteen minutes."
With that, he closed his eyes, appearing serene.
Aaron was seething inside. If not for the uniform, he might have lunged at Avery. Tticked away, second by
second. With five minutes left, Avery watched the clock's hands with a disdainful smile.
The door to the interrogation room suddenly opened.
"Captain Ashbourne, the test results are in!"
Aaron grabbed the report, his heart racing. Avery's smirk deepened.
"Positive!"
Avery's smirk froze, disbelief and fury taking over. "Impossible! | don't do drugs!" Aaron, holding the damning
report, felt a surge of victory. "The law doesn't wrong the innocent nor spare the wicked. Your denials mean
nothing against hard evidence."
Avery, realizing the implications, suspected the medication he'd been taking might be to blame. Panic and
tremor seized him despite his attempt to stay composed.
"You don't understand anything!" Avery clenched his fists, his body shaking uncontrollably.
"Looks like you're staying with us," Aaron said, barely hiding his smirk. "But, no more coffee for you."
Today was Avery's 28th birthday, one he'd spend behind bars.
Outside, the media swarmed, pressing Harvey and Lawyer Lee for answers they couldn't provide. Across the
street, in her luxury car, Evadne watched the scene unfold, a master puppeteer holding all the strings.
"President Ashbourne! Chambers Group's stocks have plummeted, and the internet's rejoicing at Avery's
downfall," Jason chuckled, scrolling through Twitter.
"Celebrating at halftisn't my style. This battle is far from over," Aaron replied, his eyes on the long game.
Evadne's expression was calm, yet her eyes smoldered with intensity. "Whether the Chambers family falls or the
Chambers Group teeters on the brink of chaos, it doesn't matter one iota to Avery. From the get-go, he's only
ever used the Chambers Group as a facade, a mere fig leaf to cover the sordid dealings of his real business. The
life or death of the Chambers Group? He couldn't care less.
His ultimate goal is to serve the shadowy figures backing him, wielding this so- called breakthrough drug to seize
control over the whole town of ElImsworth!"
At those words, Jason felt a chill that had nothing to do with the temperature. "But now that he's behind bars,
we've got all the twe need to take down Wayne Jones. That's the key to completely dismantling Avery's
empire!"
