Chapter 1079
"Evadne! Don't give up on him! Thaddeus only acts this way because of his head injury—it's not that he's
ignoring you by choice! Please, don't overthink things!"
"Oh, con! Stop making excuses for a jerk! Even if he doesn't love Evadne anymore, he must still remember
everything they shared, right? All those unforgettable memories—he just threw them away and moved on with
another woman, all lovey-dovey in public. Is he even human?!"
“That's emotional blackmail! Are you saying that just because two people dated, they can never break up?
Memories-what do they matter? They're powerless!"
Memories are powerless.
In the frozen white wilderness, Evadne suddenly stopped in her tracks. Wind howled across the open field, slicing
through her thin coat and drying the tears on her cheeks.
All the other voices in her head faded away, leaving only that one sentence- circling, echoing, relentless.
Yes. For Thaddeus now, Evadne was nothing but a ghost lost in memory.

He had already moved on. Only she was left behind, stuck in the sspot, sinking deeper with every passing
day...
Somewhere in the haze, she thought she heard someone calling her name.
But her mind was blank, her limbs frozen stiff, as if the cold had seeped into her bones and locked her in place.
"Evadne! Watch out!"
Chad's voice cut through her sorrow, yanking her back from the brink.
She snapped back to herself, just in tto see-
A delivery van barreling down the road, horn blaring, heading straight for her.
"The brakes are gone! Get out of the way!" The driver leaned out the window, screaming at her.
Evadne's heart seized, but her feet might as well have been shackled to the ground. She couldn't move.
At that critical moment, Thaddeus appeared on the scene.
He saw Evadne standing there,
hand in danger, and his heart
lurched. Without thinking, he bolted towards her with everything he had. s
But he was too far away. No matter how desperately he ran, he wouldn't make it in time.
Suddenly, another figure darted forward. Chad reached her first, wrapping his arms around her slender frame.
In the split second before the van hit, Chad shielded her with his own body, and together they tumbled into the
snow.
The van crashed into a nearby wall with a sickening crunch, its hood folding up in a cloud of steam and twisted
metal.
A bitter, medicinal scent filled Evadne's nose. Trembling, she opened her eyes, still shaken and breathless.
She found herself looking into Chad's face, streaked with sweat, his dark eyes full of worry and warmth.
"Ms. Evadne... are you okay?" His voice was hoarse, his breathing ragged.
Evadne stared at him in shock, then glanced over to see his wheelchair toppled in the snow, emotions swirling
inside her.
"l... I'm alright."
Her hands red from the cold, pressed against the ground as ske tried to stand. But the moment she put weight
on her injured left leg
pain shot through her, and her strength gave out. s
"I'll take you to the hospital."
Chad, pale as a ghost, lifted her gently into his arms and staggered toward the
gates, each step shaky but determined.
"Mr. Chad, putdown! | can walk by myself!" Evadne struggled in his arms, but he held her firmly, refusing to
let go.
"Ms. Evadne, you never have to pretend to be strong with me."
Chad looked down at her, his eyes steady and sincere. Though every step was an effort, he tried his best to
make it seem easy. "And don't worry about me. Carrying you-I can still manage that much." s
Evadne's crystal-clear eyes widened.
Behind them, Thaddeus stood silent in the snow, his lips parted as if to speak. His
heart pounded, clumsy and out of control.
