People's vibes really are a strange thing. From the moment Chasel laid eyes on this woman, he just didn't like

her. She seemed fake, through and through.

On top of that, he'd heard sinside scoop about the Abernathy family from Cassius. He knew the Abernathy

brothers were half-siblings, locked in their own rivalry, and Alexia was firmly in the older brother's camp. That

made Chasel even warier around her.

"Dr. Bright, I've already explained everything to Ms. Evadne," Thaddeus said, his lips pressed into a thin,

colorless line, voice low and flat. "We're done. | broke up with her."

Chasel's face drained of color. He stumbled back half a step, shocked.

"What did you just say?"

Alexia, standing off to the side, kept her face perfectly composed, but the tiniest flicker of a smirk tugged at the

corner of her mouth.

"We broke up," Thaddeus repeated, even colder than before.

"You son of a—!" Chasel lunged forward, grabbing Thaddeus by the collar of his crisp shirt, his knuckles turning

white with anger. "Evadne wasted her best years on you! She lost your child, she gave you everything! She's

heartbroken, her health's wrecked-and just an hour ago, she coughed up blood and ended up in the ICU. She's

still unconscious!"

Chasel's voice shook with rage and pain. "Even if you don't love her anymore, don't you have any sense of

responsibility? You think you can just toss her aside and walk away? What the hell is wrong with you?!"

He'd tried so hard these past few days to keep it together, not to bring up anything that would tear open

Evadne's wounds. He knew everyone around them was anxious, worried sick, but all those emotions would just

make things worse for her.

Anyone who'd watched their story unfold could feel the agony of losing someone you love-how could you

possibly accept it?

After everything, after loving each other so fiercely, how is it possible to suddenly just... stop? Who could bear

that?

At Chasel's words, Thaddeus frowned deeply, a storm of unreadable emotions flickering in his eyes-surprise,

maybe even disbelief.

"She... coughed up blood? Because of me?"

"Thaddeus, if you have even a shred of decency left, go see Evadne," Chasel growled, fighting to calm himself as

he let go of Thaddeus's collar Even if you've stopped caring, those memories you shared-they're still real, aren't

they? That was the woman you fought tooth and nail to be with. Now you're just tossing her aside-doesn't it hurt

at all? Aren't you afraid you'll regret this for the rest of your life?"

He turned on his heel and stormed out.

Regret for the rest of your life...

Suddenly, Thaddeus's vision blurred. A sharp, splitting pain exploded in his skull

like a balloon ready to burst. He staggered, clutching his head.

"Mr. Thaddeus, are you alright?" Alexia rushed up to steady him, but Thaddeus waved her off, sweat beading on

his brow. "Don't. I'm fine."

Alexia's hands hovered in the air, awkward and frustrated.

Chasel stormed out of the hospital room, barely holding back his anger as he

rushed onto the balcony and dialed his lover's number.

“Chasel.” Cassius's voice, warm and gentle as always, was tinged with exhaustion.

"Cassius..." Chasel had tried so hard to keep his emotions in check, but the moment he heard Cassius's deep,

soothing voice, he broke down, sobbing. "I can't take it anymore... I'm so worried about Evadne!"

"Hey, sweetheart, don't cry," Cassius murmured, his voice rough with concern. "I know you care about. Evadne.

We all do. Don't worry-she had an acute stomach bleed, but she's awake now."
