Chapter 1011
"How's it looking, Chase?"
Cassius immediately stepped forward, one hand gently massaging Chase's side, while the other took the report
from Chase's palm.
Chase narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of mischief in his gaze. "Can you make sense of it?"
Cassius was honest, his voice a low rumble, "Not a clue. Care to enlighten me, my dear?"
Chase rolled his eyes playfully, his fingers sneaking a poke at Cassius' firm abs.
He knew Cassius was stressed, hardly in the mood for flirting. But a little teasing was his way of lightening the
load, compensating for Cassius’ exhausting journey and relentless efforts to find a cure for Thaddeus. Ever since
they arrived in Helgen, Cassius hadn't rested, constantly brainstorming treatment options.

"Chase." Evadne turned to look at Chase, her eyes brimming with tears, looking utterly heartbroken.
"Evadne, Chase is here with you too," Cassius reassured gently.
Chase felt a pang in his heart, offering a warm smile, his gaze steady and reassuring. "Don't worry, as long as
I'm here, Thaddeus will wake up."
Evadne nodded vigorously, but the tears kept spilling down her cheeks.
"Thaddeus's head didn't suffer any physical trauma, and I've detected traces of a substance in his blood, which
means it's likely a drug that's affecting his brain, causing the coma," Chase explained with a heavy sigh. "But
identifying the exact drug is challenging. The blood sample analysis revealed a complex composition, something
not easily found through legitimate channels. It requires a lot of database comparisons, which will take time."
He pondered for a moment, his expression grave. "There's also the possibility of it being a drug. Given that Avery
is the drug lord of Helgen, he might have forced Thaddeus to take something as revenge. If that's the case, we're
in deep trouble."
Cassius met his gaze, his lips a tight line.
Evadne sobbed, her eyes barely open. "Will Thaddeus stay like this? Will he ever wake up?"
Chase exuded confidence, "With my intervention, I'm nine-tenths sure he'll wake up."
"Thank you, Chase."
"But what happens after he wakes up. I'm not sure," Chase admitted, hesitating.
At this point, Evadne wasn't asking for much. She just wanted Thaddeus to wake up, to be safe and sound.
"It doesn't matter. No matter what happens, | love him, always will! No matter the cost, I'm willing to bear it!"
Despite her frail condition, Evadne refused to leave Thaddeus's side. Cassius and Chase couldn't persuade her
otherwise, so they stepped outside the hospital
room.
In the hallway, Cassius suddenly grasped Chase's elegant hand, holding it tightly, his voice a mix of worry and
concern. "Chase, you didn't tell Evadne the whole truth, did you?"
Their eyes locked, a shadow passing through Chase's clear gaze.
"There's no one else here now, so tellthe truth."
Cassius pulled Chase closer, their breaths mingling. "What's Thaddeus's real condition? Will he lose his
memory?"
His voice was hoarse, trembling slightly. He had a hunch that brain damage could affect memory, but he dared
not voice it. The thought of amnesia was too cruel for Evadne. After everything they'd been through to reunite,
how could she bear it if Thaddeus forgot her?
"Amnesia... it's possible, but not certain," Chase mused. "The hypothalamus is closely linked to human emotions,
and the brainstem plays a vital role in activating them. Thaddeus's hypothalamus and brainstem have suffered
sdamage, which might affect his memory. There's also another possibility."
Cassius's heart clenched. "What possibility?"
"He might becsomeone else, a stranger in Thaddeus's body."
