Chapter 473 Returning to Falconridge.
Casper had practically transformed his hinto a high-tech hospital ward. Besides the regular visits from doctors and nurses, he made it a daily ritual to talk to her. After a goodnight kiss, he would sleep on another single bed in the sroom. As long as he could hear her breathing, he felt at peace.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCaroline found out about this a month later. Walking into the room Casper had meticulously prepared for Eliza, seeing the woman lying on the hospital bed as if asleep, her heart was suddenly gripped and then violently dropped. "How could..." she choked up, her eyes welling with tears, "...how could this happen?" Dillon briefly explained the situation, "Mr. Casper is looking for the best treatment options. Maybe one day, she'll wake up." "Waking up from a vegetative state?" Caroline shook her head, her eyes filled with sorrow, "What if she never wakes up?" "Mr. Casper said that if she never wakes up, he will stay with her until he grows old and dies... that day." Dillon's emotions surged, his nose tingling. That could be decades from now. In the long journey of life, he couldn't imagine how Casper would endure. The only reasons he could think of were love and hope. Their faces were etched with sadness.
After leaving the room, Caroline almost blacked out, nearly falling, but Dillon caught her just in time. "Are you okay?" "Don't touch me," she snapped, pushing him away and sinking into the sofa.
Dillon, feeling helpless, poured her a glass of water and handed it over. "Have swater." "I don't need your fake kindness," Caroline retorted, not in the mood for niceties.
Dillon stood respectfully to the side, more like a guarding knight. She was most annoyed by his overly solemn facade. Always preaching about the boundaries between master and servant, no marriage, no romance, yet when it cto doing the unthinkable, manners and morals were thrown out the window. The worst part was, acting like nothing happened afterward.
"Where's Casper? Why hasn't he cback yet?" she asked, restless.
"Ms. Caroline, Mr. Casper went to pick up the young master. After picking him up, he'll probably take him out for a bit before bringing him over," Dillon answered, his hands crossed in front of him, respectful as ever. Caroline glanced at him. He avoided her gaze. Frustrated, she suddenly stood up. "Cwith me, I have something to say to you." "Yes, ma'am." In Caroline's car, the space was sealed, the windows tinted, nearly impossible to see inside from outside. Her breathing becrapid. Suddenly, she raised her hand, grabbing his collar, demanding, "What about that day? How do you plan to resolve it?" "What does Ms. Caroline mean?" He was obviously a bit nervous.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"What do you mean, acting like nothing happened? Dillon, are you playing games with me?" Caroline didn't necessarily want him to take responsibility. Dillon was several years her junior, and she didn't typically like men younger than her. It was a mistake that, something happened between them. For him to disappear and avoid seeing her seemed dishonorable.
"Ms. Caroline, about that day..." Dillon swallowed nervously, how ab1you wish to resolve it?"
Dillon couldn't offer a solution. It wasn't that he was refusing to take responsibility, nor was it that he didn't want to! But given his status and position, how could he take responsibility? "I'm asking you." Yet he was throwing the question back at her.
"I..." He stuttered, clearly unable to provide an answer.
Caroline was somewhat
disappointed. She loosened her grip on his collar, gently straightening it "Since Dion can't think of a way to splve this, let's keep this matter between us. You know, I know, and I don't want a third person to find out. Can you do that?"
